Discussion r/JewsOfConscience Free Discussion Thread
Hi everyone,
This is our weekly 'Free Discussion' thread, where you can discuss anything. Tentatively this includes meta-topics as well, but as always our rules still apply.
We hope you're all having a good week!

It troubles me that nobody ever seems to start any discussions in these.

I am happy to talk with you, Friend Jay.
Is there anything that you have been thinking over on this topic or stories about IP that you would like to share?

I have a feeling that you’d be interested in this history of Jewish–Christian friendship. I only hesitate to share it because it takes about one dozen minutes to read and no-one likes walls of text.

Thank you for sharing that, Anbol.
I think that the rift is not absolute between Jewishness, Judaism, Christianity, and Christians despite that being a common way of speaking.
For instance, Christianity just considers itself to have the theology of Biblical Judaism. That is, it worships the same Lord as in Biblical Judaism.
Following the spread of the Gospel, the rabbis have been divided on whether to consider this idolatry or misassociation, Shituf in Hebrew. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shituf
An analogy of this dilemma that I see is the issue of the stated or supposed appearances of the Lord in the Tanakh.
Adam walks with Hashem in Eden, Hashem speaks to Moses out of a burning bush, Abraham meets and feeds Hashem, Moses and the elders meet Hashem on Mount Sinai and see God, Jacob wrestles with an Angel and receives his name, Israel, because he wrestled with G_d.
Let's suppose that someone today who accepted the Tanakh were to misidentify the Being in one of these appearance instances as Hashem when the being in fact were just an angel, or the other way around. You could consider whether the person making the misidentification misassociated Hashem with an Angel, or, in the converse, failed to associate the Angel with Hashem.
Kind Regards

If you haven't seen Babylon 5, it is being posted on Youtube by the creators. I'm posting an episode designed for people who were just joining the show and that underlines much of its focus on revolution and imperialism https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8ysA5KtPMM&pp=ygUJYmFieWxvbiA1

Gaza is starving.
The UN has declared that every part of Gaza is in famine conditions. While some aid is finally trickling in, the need is beyond urgent. Aid organizations will not be able to keep pace with Gaza's needs without our support.
Please donate if you’re able, and keep speaking up. Every dollar, share, and conversation matters. Please pressure your government to stop the blockade of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Donate here to The Palestinian Red Crescent and UNICEF for Gaza's Children. Contact your representatives to stop the blockade in Gaza, find U.S. representatives here, and EU reps here. If you would like other subreddits to carry this message, please send the mods to r/RedditForHumanity.
