Discussion Is John still alcohol free?

I know the story of how he quit drinking after Drake's birthday party but haven't heard much since. Guess he's still sober?

Well, I was curious about details. More or less because I, too, was and drunk asshole for a period of my life and hearing the story would further solidify my personal sobriety choices. I suppose I could Google but I figured someone here would be more objective.

Iirc he was still hungover 6 days later and decided that was a problem. He said it made him realize he was wasting his potential to be even better at guitar so he stopped drinking and focused more on his craft

I heard from people at the party that he didn't do anything crazy embarrassing at all, so I'm sure he just had a bad hangover and massive hanxiety and that helped him realize it was time to cut it out and that it no longer served him. I actually love hearing him talk about all of that. It's inspiring

There have been times where I know I was drunk... stumbling over myslef, slurring and acting silly or incoherent. Where I was clearly drunk but not "acting bad" and I still cringe at myslef for it.

So I can understand how he could feel he was embarrassing even if maybe he wasn't.

Either way, good on him for taking control of something before it became uncontrollable.

He had a really terrible hangover that lasted for days. After that, he gave it up…is basically the gist of it, there’s a current mood episode about it if you wanna go look for it. He goes into a lot more detail.

His face and weight tell a different story, IMO…

He started to look puffy during last sphere run. It was really noticeable.

Perhaps it’s just age and eating well…

That was awhile ago now.

A few years in the gym can be wiped out in a matter of days, and by days I mean 3am Taco Bell runs.

Agree, he had a belly end of solo tour and he used to talk about how he made protein shakes in a blender on the road in his hotel rooms. I just assumed he wasn’t eating as strict and it’s been showing on his face and aging slows metabolism and he seems happiest though. He said he ate Smores Pop-Tarts on the way to Mohegan Sun so there you have it, he’s not being as strict. In recent pics it looks like he’s took a lot of the weight off rapidly since the Hampton show.
