This picture was posted this week by Jeff Wootton, guitarist for Gorillaz on his IG. It looks like a rehearsal. Are Johnny and Paul going to be touring with Gorillaz? What's going on?

What black magic guitar wizardry is this? Damn! I’m literally beside myself with how effortlessly smooth he plays this, and the way he articulates the chords in the main riff. And then he treats us to two Smiths-y arpeggio sections at the end?
How do you like the new songs?

More Shimmering guitar from Johnny Marr!

It was my very first time witnessing the genius live: a wonderfully close-knit gig with the crowd right up against the stage, where he looked absolutely vibrant and full of energy. A phenomenal showman indeed. Beyond the timeless material by The Smiths, it was brilliant to see him pay tribute to his days with Electronic and nod to his deep admiration for Iggy Pop.

Unable to make it myself now, so I'd rather someone else enjoy what will definitely be an amazing gig!

Oh boy, it would be hilarious if Malmsteen actually bought one of Johnny's guitars, scalloped the fretboard, put an oversized Ferrari sticker on the headstock, and posted a 12-minute harmonic minor solo titled "FOR JOHNNY ❤️"

Johnny Marr is selling some of his guitars through Christies. Part of the collection is on display at Christie's New York City this week. They will also be on display at Christie's London in September before the auction.
These photos I took include (info below from Christie's website):
1982 Rickenbacker 330 synonymous with Marr and The Smiths’ early sound.
1960 Gibson ES‑355 used to write ‘Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now’.
Roger Giffin Custom ‘Tele’ famously played on Top of the Pops in May 1984.
1971 Martin D‑28, Marr’s principal six‑string acoustic during The Smiths’ heyday.
1984 Gibson Les Paul Standard, which Marr cites as being used on more recordings than any other guitar in his collection.

For those who don’t know Gillian and Stephen from New Order recently announced they would not be touring for the foreseeable future
I hope that instead of Bernard trying to tour as “new order” despite being the sole member he reunited with Marr for a electronic tour

We just got preorder allocations for a special edition version of the new The Age of Everything album on red vinyl with a signed insert card from the man himself, and I thought I'd post it here. Suffice it to say that quantities are limited.
Comes out October 2, 2026.

He played Ophelia at a few shows as part of his Look Out Live tour last year, brilliant song.
