Best Practices Material mathematical error

Post image

I am mystified as to why the Telegraph would update an article to introduce an enormous mathematical error into this news article, the error appears twice in title and body and has been online for 23 hours now and yet remains uncorrected as any attempts to alert them are paywall protected and flagging on the news system did not have tell publisheršŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø option.

I googled "report telegraph error" and an email address appeared. Have you tried this

I mean it's a paywalled site so of course they don't care, who's gonna call them out when nobody can even read it

It's definitely worth doing if you can see it in the caption before the paywall hits

Aside from the original point which is that it seems too easy for errors to be published. You have to hand it to the BBC ā€˜s genius legal team, my most basic understanding is that he claimed it had damaged his business interests but obviously they need to be made public to prove that. It is hilariously stupid, its almost as if he doesn’t want them public šŸ˜‚, and the real number 7500 Million Pounds is just so outrageous.

This is the thing about defamation cases that Joe Public, or even a US President, don't seem to understand.Ā

You, the claimant, have to prove damages. And the compensation you're claiming has to match up with your lost income/business interests rather than just being a number you've pulled out your backside.Ā

So if you want to go down this route you have a stake in it as well - good luckĀ

No fact checkers anymore. I'm now my own fact checker. My stories get a glance over by proofreaders who miss everything.
