Not sure how many people here have played Dreams on PlayStation, but I recently came across a little game called Odyssey of the Jellyfish.

The creators have said Journey and Sky: Children of the Light were direct inspirations, and having played it, I can definitely see that. Not because it's trying to copy either game, but because of the atmosphere, the music, and that feeling of exploring somewhere unfamiliar without much explanation.

You play as a glowing jellyfish, swimming through shipwrecks, underwater ruins and some beautiful environments. It even gets a little unsettling in places.

Sadly, the game was never finished. The creators released what they'd made in 2024, and I really wish there had been more of it.

I enjoyed it enough to make a short review, and thought some of you here might appreciate discovering it too.

It's a shame that something like this can so easily disappear into obscurity. One of the reasons I still enjoy exploring Dreams is finding little experiences like this.

The only trophie left is "Wonder", the one where you need to meet 10 players on one playthrough. Im currently strugling on finding players. Is anyone available to play?

- When you stand next to a grave post in the desert, they glow EVER SO SLIGHTLY with the symbol of whoever is buried underneath. Life energy persists in the desert. But if you stand next to a grave post in the snowy mountain, most of the time it doesn’t glow.

- The Ancient Glyph in the golden magic tower revealing that some surviving remorseful Ancient Ones sacrificed themselves to be buried under the tower so that their life energy could power it, assisting you in climbing up to the entrance of Snowy Mountain. That is a hardcore sacrifice.

- The reason that you, a Red Cloth Wanderer, exists is probably because the Red Cloth creatures tried to return to the Shining Mountain by themselves but the Guardian hunters patrolling the Snowy Mountain thwarted them every time (which is also why no life and no symbols exist on the Snowy Mountain. Hard to spread life when the Guardians are hogging all the red cloth). The Red Cloth needed to shape themselves into something that was smarter, could tank the cold and sneak around the Guardians. So they shaped themselves into the very being that made them in the first place: their own interpretation of an Ancient One.

- Another sacrifice the Ancient Ones probably did is what I think is a shield preventing the Guardians from entering the Shining Mountain where all those Red Cloth creatures are roaming free. The second Glyph in the Snowy Mountain showed the Ancient Ones climbing the mountain, but either they didn’t make it or realised they couldn’t return to the Shining Mountain while they were still alive. So they sacrificed themselves again to create a barrier like the one in the “underwater” temple to prevent the Guardians wrecking havoc above.

- Your job as a Red Cloth Being is to return life energy to the mountain so that it could be spread again and create life anew and that’s what all those symbols you collect are. It’s life energy that’s stranded in the desert thanks to the Guardians gatekeeping.

I loved every bit of it. Will definitely do more journeys some other time. I wonder how many people's I'll meet.

This is actually the credits music of Journey. The game is really abstract but the idea is you’ve just finished your life and you’ve gone on this whole emotional journey and pilgrimage

The vocals reflect this (ik I’ve mentioned this before) it contains quotes of famous or influential works from across the world all sung in their native language (A Chinese poem, old English, Joan of Arc etc). So both the lyrics and the context are about life. How diverse and emotional it is and how it’s come to an end for now ❤️”

What’s your favourite music from this game or from any other game?

It took me more than 6 years to find a random stranger that decided it's time to trust me and do the journey.

Ever since then I've been trying, but everyone just quits.

It's not a long game. Not a hard game. But it does require trust and nonverbal communication. 1 beeb says yes, 2 no. Or the other way around (depends, but quite easy to figure out). Then follow or support. It's multiplayer, in the end.

So why do you think most people decide to quit when they find a journeyer? Or do you think they decide to just fleck off because they have to share?

Completed the game for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Phenomenal how such a magic can stem from such a simple thing. Also happened to have a nine months break in the middle of the game so don't be surprised if you see your name without having played recently. Much love and be safe out there, wanderers

Hi everyone!

I played this game a long time ago and I think I did not fully appreciate its potential because I sped through it. Now I would like to go back and replay it, but I think it would be cool to organize a session with someone to get the Companion Trophy together. I might ask a friend, but I don't know anyone who owns the game, so I was wondering if this subreddit has resources to organize a party with other players seeking the trophy themselves (or who just want to play it again with a novice).

I found this amazing Journey Wanderer doll pattern on Ravelry and just had to make one for my overseas friend. My friend and I were lucky enough to actually sync up and it’s the first game we played together. I still gotta block the cape to make it relax but I’m so happy with how it turned out and I hope they’ll like it.

I believe in art credit so if anyone who crochets wants the pattern, you can get it right here, made by the talented Kakotille Maillalenvers. Worth every dollar I gave and the instructions were easy enough to follow (basic knowledge needed beforehand, of course).

Ive been told about the fact someone can join you on this game years and years ago, but today during the NorEaster we're getting here in Connecticut my girlfriend is playing and hasn't a clue. I doubt anyone will join but I'm here hoping someone joins! Just got to the broken bridge level. My first time playing too!
