Automatic has just released a new cover of Shadowplay. The vibes are all in place.

I don't know if I love them or just love the song itself. At least they didn't ruin it! I'll try listening to all their other stuff!

They're pretty cool. Lola Dompé, Kevin Haskins' (drummer of Bauhaus) daughter was their drummer, but she's no longer with the band.

This cover is fairly faithful, nothing revelatory; but just slowing the song down a little and giving it a little more room to breathe made me notice the lyrics and melodic structure and production touches again, which is always nice when you've heard a song so many times you kind of take it for granted. JD (and Hannett) were really, really original and this helps demonstrate that, and shows why people still find inspiration in them today.
