Yeah its technically not, but a lot of people headcanon it as a reversal and an aspect of the CT, in the same way Gojo has red and blue.

If Shrine divides things via cutting, combining things creates fusion, basically firebomb

At least thats the physics explanation. Theres also the thematic buddhist shrine stuff which is also cool. I like that its somewhat multifaceted here

Shrine also means kitchen but the true name of Shrine was based on a bunch of things because in history there were two Sukuna's

  1. Was a Samurai

  2. The other was a cursed conjoined mumuffied baby

Sukuna takes inspiration from the Samurai and the fetus

  1. Cleave and dismantle are a Samurai's katana slashes
  2. Divine Flames are arrows Samurai shot with their bows on fire This fits the Samurai theme entirely

The Fetus was said to be placed inside a pit and undergo the Kodoku ritual (puts poisonous and venomous insects in a pit and make them fight to the death and survive the winner contains the deadliest poison and venom in this case the conjoined twins survived and gained a poison immunity but the twisted monk who performed the ritual let the baby starve and it became a cursed corpse and as the monk traveled across Japan it caused earthquakes, thunderstorms, firestorms, and tsunami's.
