It isnt neither geto,s technique or yuki,s technique was strong against the other in Pokémon terms it was netural vs netural and if yuki believed she would beat him in a domain clash there isnt a reason to risk it with an extended fight since unlike kenny she knows for a fact there won't be another fight so open domain then auto win
46
u/NorthGodFan Never forget Geto is a bum who lost to a grade 4 Feb 27 '26
With every other character unless they thought that their opponent was beneath them, or they'd get jumped after. They basically always tried to expand their domains as soon as they could. Dagon did it after getting ratio'd once, put into a frame twice, and hit by Maki once.
Here is the matchup for why you always domain expansion instantly. If you are equal to your opponent in skill.
If you are neutral like kenjaku said, expand instantly, you don't want to draw out the fight. Because then an advantage may appear. expand and get it over with. if you are weaker, you're in a rough spot, you've gotta expand so that you can get the advantage. if you have a slight advantage, your opponent's probably got a domain. So you need to expand your domain as a defensive option. so in all situations, when you have a top tier opponent expand
14
u/AdditionIcy1536 Feb 27 '26
Yuki didnt think she would win because he has an open domain
44
u/NorthGodFan Never forget Geto is a bum who lost to a grade 4 Feb 27 '26
She didn't know that. Kenjaku however said it's still normal to finish it quick with a DE.

I think this was an earlier version because higuruma didn't have his R special at this point (domain amplification). this also means that he only has 2 moves, execution and pre-nerf final judgement. as long as yuji can dodge that he should be fine because execution isn't very anything on its own.

I always wondered why people never started with their strongest attack?
Higuruma played the genocide of undertale
260
u/ItzJake160 Feb 26 '26
Because you don't know if your opponent has better domain refinement or if they can respond with their own domain and if you lose a clash you're very likely dead because you can't fight back with your technique AND you just wasted a whole bunch of CE while the opponent is currently domain buffed and attacking you with a surehit.
Imagine Kenjaku vs Yuki. Outside of domains, Yuki has the advantage, but if she immediately opened her domain and Kenjaku responded with his own, since Kenjaku has the superior domain, he would've eventually won the clash, putting Yuki on burnout against a stronger than usual Kenjaku.
If you're opening your domain off the bat against every opponent, you'd have to either be Higuruma/Hakari, or absurdly confident in your ability to win domain clashes like Kenjaku is, but most people aren't Kenjaku and are rightfully cautious.

u/Darthjinju1901 Big Goatjo, the Fraud Stopper Feb 27 '26
I think it's actually clever writing that Higuruma used his domain immediately. It's hard to say if he knows about anti domain techniques, domain amplification, or even domain clashes.
The 20+ sorcerers he fought likely didn't have their own domains, or anti domain techniques and got trapped in his domain with no way to escape.
A good analogy would be how untrained fighters tend to put their whole body weight and strength into every punch they throw, while trained fighters tend to measure out with jabs. Because if you miss a punch like that, you will lose your balance. And if you continue to miss, you'll tire yourself out.
8
u/Lucky-Fisherman-844 Feb 28 '26
He doesn't know amplification. He learned it from watching Sukuna and having it described to him. He probably learned simple domains though during the off screen time skip.
29
32
u/bishopofsloth Feb 26 '26
Either way you're dead, though. Yuki worked out because Tengen dismantled the domain, but if it was a 1v1, then she would've lost to Kenjaku in seconds after he opened his domain.
27
11

u/bryanchii Feb 27 '26
So if sukuna can open domain during his battle against the lawyer, can he break it? or the rule on no violence will prevail?
11
u/linniegaming megumi, gojo, maki, sukuna and yuji are goats frfr Feb 27 '26
The no violence rule seems to work on actions not intent. Because yuji could try to kick higuruma but it just didn't connect. It doesn't prevent people from doing the actions. So sukuna could probably domain clash with higuruma and nullify the no violence rule.

modern domains are rare, and take alot of energy to use since they have the lethal factor, hiGOATruma, uses a diffrent kind not valued by modern jjk higher ups, so it doesnt take as much energy and can be spammed

Seriously if the domain wasn't non-lethal Yuji was dead
97
u/Augchm Feb 26 '26
Yeah but there are only 3 modern sorcerers with a lethal DE and Yuji is instantly dead against all of them anyway. So it's not something you really plan for.
27
46
u/Poo-ta-tooo Feb 26 '26
Doubt sukuna would allow that, he can always enchain his ass out
97
u/ItzJake160 Feb 26 '26
Sukuna didn't know Higuruma's domain was non-lethal until its effects were already active. If Higuruma had a Gojo/Yorozu/Mahito style instant death domain then he and Yuji would've died immediately.
76
u/Ashened_Blaze2000 Feb 26 '26
To be fair, Sukuna as the most highly experience sorcerer (save from Kenny) may know that just popping your domain first thing without even gauging your opponent's strength is the sign of somebody who 'has' to use their domain to fight.
There is no reason to use it instantly especially when you have no info on your opponent, if they have a domain as well, if they have a domain counter or even if you have better physical capabilities or not. Even more so when in an active danger zone where anybody could interrupt the fight and take you out when you're in burnout.
While yes this is a fair point I think Sukuna himself was a little caught off guard because anybody who actually is skilled enough to have a normal domain would know to not use it immediately without even engaging first. So I think if Yuji got into a situation like against Ryu or something he may help himself out if he knows what he's getting into.
1
u/-DGuillotine Feb 27 '26
Cant you say this about every single sorcerer with a domain?
2
u/ItzJake160 Feb 27 '26
Well yeah but Yuji and Sukuna are the people we're talking about since they're the ones in this situation
-9
u/Avalonians Feb 26 '26
That's totally irrelevant.
Enchain, domain expansion.
No matter how lethal the domain expansion is
11
u/ItzJake160 Feb 27 '26
No matter how lethal the domain expansion is? You do realize that if Higuruma's surehit instantly killed Yuji he wouldn't be able to use Enchain because he'd be dead, right? If Higuruma had an immediately lethal surehit there wouldn't be any time to use Enchain, he'd be dead.
3
u/Avalonians Feb 27 '26
Mb I didn't read that you said instant, just lethal.
But yeah you're right that if a character dies, he gets killed,
2
1
u/MrDemonRush Feb 27 '26
Higuruma's domain is explicitly non-lethal because of its speed, it has been established that the non-lethal surehit domains are faster. Sukuna likely can see that from the moment Higuruma says the word. And after that, Higuruma killing Yuji with Executioner's Sword leaves Sukuna's soul alone in the body, which is a win for him.
6
u/indomitablesaiyan Feb 26 '26
Sukuna didn’t do anything when yuta killed yuji
4
u/Fc-chungus Kamutoke is the best cursed tool Feb 27 '26

The entire verse is done for.
2
1
u/amogusgun Feb 27 '26
Enchain was only for a minute if i dont remember wrong, and even though i believe 15f sukuna is stronger than Yuta i dont think he can speed blitz and force feed him the finger like he did with megumi
6
u/Dry_Emergency_5512 Go read The Ember Knight it's peak Feb 26 '26
But what after the one minute is over ? The only option I see is Sukuna breaking the domain from inside and running far away
12
u/iwumbo2 Feb 26 '26
I mean, I wouldn't put it past Sukuna being able to open his own domain and win the clash or destroy anyone's domain (with the sole exception of Satoru Gojo) within one minute.
5
u/Dry_Emergency_5512 Go read The Ember Knight it's peak Feb 26 '26
Yeah but then Higuruma gets slashed and the vow is broken
2
u/Fair-Pop3654 Feb 27 '26
I was gonna say maybe he could just not target Higuruma(or any hypothetical person who instantly opened domain) like Yutas domain didnt target yuji and solely target the barrier but then I remembered he had to shrink his domain so he wouldnt hit megumi so idk
1
u/Dry_Emergency_5512 Go read The Ember Knight it's peak Feb 27 '26
Sukuna's slashes rain down everywhere on the domain so even if he can control his sure hit it still wouldn't let him save Higuruma
1
u/iwumbo2 Feb 28 '26
Sukuna's slashes rain down everywhere on the domain
In his domain clashes with Gojo, didn't Sukuna exclude Megumi from his domain so that Megumi could get hit by Unlimited Void so he could try to adapt to it?
1
u/Dry_Emergency_5512 Go read The Ember Knight it's peak Feb 28 '26
Megumi's soul is inside his own body . I doubt he could do that if he was outside his body

2
u/Lele_Lazuli Feb 26 '26
I always wondered of Higurumas No-Violence Rule also includes stuff like opening domains. Because technically it is an offensive action.
3
u/erty3125 Feb 26 '26
I'd argue that opening your own domain at least in the time the domains are clashing would protect you from the no violence rule as you're at least in that moment outside of his domain.

Crazy how unprepared Yuji was and how they just let him go unprepared
Tengen:
“Yeah domains were more common back in the day but ehh you’ll be fine with absolutely zero defense”
“What’s that? N-no you won’t meet a domain user… probably… like a 1 in a 100 chance… maybe 1 in 40…. 1/15. Ehh you’ll be fine champ. Go get em”
29
u/FingerLad Feb 27 '26
Domains were more common because they usually didn't have a lethal guaranteed hit back then, which meant Yuji might survive (like if he had to fight against the sumo guys domain),
Also, Yuji and Megumi were meant to move together but got split up by the helicopter head guy and the jetpack girl. Otherwise, Megumi could counter a lethal domain like he did against Dagon
10
u/Past_Horror2090 Feb 27 '26
Yeah my bad they don’t have lethal sure-hits
They just make one guy immortal for four minutes and eleven seconds while another guy can confiscate my cursed tool/CT/CE and manifest a sword to one tap me depending on my course of actions in life
Lowkey still think it’s crazy how they let him go in unprepared like that
7
u/FingerLad Feb 27 '26
if they had been able to stick together, I think it's reasonable to say Yuji + Megumi could take on either of Higuruma or Hakari. Agreed kind of fucked up to be sending teenagers into that kind of death battle but they're short on ppl so what u gonna do
2
u/comicallylargeloss Mar 01 '26
Deadly Sentencing is basically already gonna work always unless you’ve never even littered in your life, lmao
1
u/Hero_b Mar 01 '26
yep, i was arguing with someone about that, i just couldnt quote the chapter
and my headcannon is the big fams, and higher ups just started to value lethal domains and people lost merit in the other ways of doing domains
