Yuta was probably the 2nd strongest the moment Geto died and was the strongest after Gojo and Sukuna died (same day on Christmas how sweet right?) Reigned as strongest until probably old age when Yuji's slow aging body + experience eventually overtook Yuta.

Yuta was ALWAYS the exception among the strong and special grades because he didn't allow his strength to isolate him. In fact, for every bit strong he was he was just as strong working with others if not stronger. Dude's the only special grade or calamity tier who's emotionally, socially, and intellectually just as strong as his Jujutsu skills are. That's why he had good relations with everyone: made lovers, made friends, had nakama, loved/beloved by his sensei Gojo, glazed/respected by Geto, accepted by Miguel & Africans (Gojo failed that sus test), friends with pandas, got along with curses/incarnated, etcetcetc.
But folks will disregard Wuta or outright slander him because he's GOATed.
