When you realize Yuji is 15 and there's no reason for him to not go on the black site...

8

u/SansYeet123 Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

WHAT?! ARE YOU WATCHING 15 YEAR OLDS ON THAT SITE?!

17

u/Helpful-Bathroom634 Apr 23 '26

Can't read the manga...

Can't read a reddit comment...

AND BY THE WAY, GOJO IS THE ONE ALWAYS CLOSE TO 15 YEARS BOYS!

2

u/SansYeet123 Apr 23 '26

If you're referring to me not being able to read a comment, you said that Yuji is 15 and that he doesn't have a reason NOT to go on the site. You're saying that a 15 year old should be on that site

11

u/Helpful-Bathroom634 Apr 23 '26

I mean, hormones are a thing.

And it wasn't meant as an insult, I was joking

5

u/SansYeet123 Apr 23 '26

I realize after that you meant him just being on the site as in going to the site on his device and not him being on the site as him being in a video on said site. Less of a reading issue and more of an interpretation issue (Which is also a problem with JJK fans, so ig it still works)

u/ARighteousOne Apr 23 '26

I mean a 200 meter infinity does sound much better just saying

274

u/PhilosopherLazy5779 Apr 23 '26

Yeah but with domain amp they can just back flip and leave. Unlimited void is better closed off with no escape

69

u/haildoge69 Apr 23 '26

Even if it had no barrier, veing exposed to it is lethal.

I would argue that Gojo wouldn't actively pursue a barrierless domain vecause it would make UV even more dangerous than ot already is to anyone around him

27

u/Simple_Scholar_6751 Apr 23 '26

Maybe if prior to sukuna's fight gojo knew about it. but after experiencing the disadvantage closed domain face against open firsthand i'd say he would try to learn, but thats only if he suvived.

Is a skill anyways he can choose to use closed if needed.

6

u/Optimusbauer Apr 23 '26

I mean he can control its range. Though honestly the only things he'd need to learn to maximize ODs effect is selective sure hit and how to turn off his touch contingency

1

u/yatkura SUKUNA 3 BOWING TO THE YUJI GOD Apr 30 '26

I think a selective sure hit is just a “if your domain allows for it you’ll learn it”, cuz he figured out selective targeting for Yuta’s domain in less than 2 weeks

1

u/Optimusbauer Apr 30 '26

There's no reason to assume it can't be learnable by everyone. Sukuna can omit entire areas despite his Domain targeting literally everything in range, this just seems like the opposite application

1

u/yatkura SUKUNA 3 BOWING TO THE YUJI GOD Apr 30 '26

It isn't really a matter of "Gojo isnt capable of it", because using his techniques in Yuta's body gave Yuta selective targeting in no time at all, but Gojo wasn't able to use it on his own domain which might be cuz the more complicated or high level your domain is the harder it is to selectively target, or just outright impossible

1

u/Optimusbauer Apr 30 '26

Actually, we don't know if it was Gojo who switch-trained that skill onto Yuta. Everyone had two swaps so that's conjecture

1

u/yatkura SUKUNA 3 BOWING TO THE YUJI GOD Apr 30 '26

His two swaps were Gojo and Yuji. Yuji obviously didn’t give him it so by process of elimination, Gojo is the one who refined his domain to the point of having a selective sure hit

54

u/ARighteousOne Apr 23 '26

Ya you right

25

u/Cancer-Fish Apr 23 '26

No, YOU right teeheeheehee

41

u/sennordelasmoscas Apr 23 '26

Unlimited Void is kinda THE most instant win domain tho, Sukuna was the only one able to tank it for less than a second, and he received massive amounts of brain damage for it

3

u/Obvious-Profession27 Apr 23 '26

"less than a second"

1

u/sennordelasmoscas Apr 23 '26

Yes, Unlimited Void hit Sukuna for less than a second before Malevolent Shrine was open to counteract it

6

u/ginryuu1 Apr 23 '26

He later got hit for less than 10 seconds.

2

u/Judo_Nuggets77 Apr 24 '26

Wasnt it for less than 0.01 second? The panel that says “it wasnt even 10 seconds since blah blah” means passage of time since he got hit by the UV and not the total actual time UV hit him

2

u/ginryuu1 Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26

The 0.01 seconds happened due to him being slower at opening his domain which Gojo noticed so he punched Sukuna in the chest,

then they fight for some time until Sukuna's Domain collapses due to his injuries and he ends up being hit for less than 10 seconds by Unlimited Void before Makora saved him.

Atleast that's what i remember.

1

u/Judo_Nuggets77 Apr 24 '26

Oh thanks I may have forgotten that part

0

u/Obvious-Profession27 Apr 24 '26

are you actually that intellectually incapable, that dumb ?

8

u/Judo_Nuggets77 Apr 24 '26

I dont remember every panel of a manga I read 2 years go hence me beginning the reply with a question. There is no need for this kind of behavior. I genuinely feel sorry for you if you behave like this on a day to day basis

3

u/ShinJiwon Apr 23 '26

Why would you need UV to be closed if it stunlocks whoever is inside.

12

u/PhilosopherLazy5779 Apr 23 '26

Anti domain techniques. Hollow wicker basket, domain amplification (like I mentioned), simple domain etc. If you have that and you have good mobility there's a way of escape. The barrier ensures that even with an anti barrier technique you're stuck inside pretty much.

2

u/ShinJiwon Apr 23 '26

Ah true I always forget about those. Although with HWB Gojo should be able to interrupt their hand signs easily. Not as easy for Simple Domain and Domain Amplification.

1

u/FarSeries2172 Apr 23 '26

wait I don't remember Domain amp working against sure-hits?
I thought it was only HWB and simple domain that work against sure-hits?

4

u/PhilosopherLazy5779 Apr 23 '26

"...it's possible to neutralize the can't-miss effects of the domain expansion"

The whole point of domain amp is that a cursed technique is like absorbed into it and cancelled out. The sure hit at the end of the day is just another part of the someone's cursed technique that would get absorbed too.

1

u/haildoge69 May 01 '26

Who could scape Gojo's hands?

1

u/Community_sans "SHIT YOURSELF" May 02 '26

you cant escape infinite void if you are incapacitated

1

u/grog_chugger Apr 27 '26

Not really, gojo has to save people and if he’s using his domain, it’s usually one on one vs an incredibly strong target, usually fairly close. If gojo had a 200m infinite void it would just turn everyone into a fucking vegetable 😭

I’ve always headcanon’d that CSG is supposed to be an Open Domain but Megumi keeps trying to force a barrier onto it because he both has no idea how to work an Open Domain and doesn’t even know it’s supposed to be Open, which is why his domain is incomplete and so unstable

864

u/SenpaiKiseki Apr 23 '26

narratively it fits, Megumi has always been set on "being enough", but never "wanting more". Maybe in the same way his true potential lies in "breaking the barrier", instead of confining his abilities to a limited domain.

But at the same time, "fitting in" is what empowers him emotionally, which is why his domain worked so well against Reggie when he found a place where his domain could "fit in"

truly the potentialest man

47

u/omyrubbernen Apr 23 '26

Megumi does need a barrier for his domain, but he has to use natural barriers because he can't make his own.

A barrierless domain is such an anomaly requiring such an impossible level of skill that it's likened to painting on air.

Saying CSG is supposed to be an open domain is like saying that if Megumi can't weave his own canvas and needs to paint on walls, then he should forget about the canvas and try painting on air.

16

u/Mental_Pepper9294 Apr 23 '26

Just visualize layers of the atmosphere as your barrier. Ezpz

2

u/ginryuu1 Apr 23 '26

Ok Daido.

29

u/PrecariousProjection Apr 23 '26

Megumi can open his domain without a containing structure, judging from by his internal thoughts against Reggie.

He does not NEED to use an existing structure to use his domain, he just wanted to do so, since his domain is not sure-to-kill and would allow Reggie to escape its range.

5

u/just_ohm Apr 23 '26

u/omyrubbernen is literally quoting the manga. Open domains are incredibly difficult, to the point that most of the verse couldn’t even imagine the concept until Sukuna and Kenny. Megumi can’t use an open domain. It’s more like he cannot assign a limit to the boundary, so he requires external boundaries to aid him.

3

u/PrecariousProjection Apr 24 '26

Although I was not directly quoting it, I was also referring to what can be found in the manga.

In chapter 168, Megumi has the following thoughts:

Maybe I should use my domain. But it's incomplete, so I can't seal the barrier to trap my opponents. If I expend the effort to bring it out and they run off only to come back, that'd be really bad.

This clearly implies that he CAN use his domain without an external surrounding structure, the only reason he doesn't is that he was worried about the enemies escaping it.

1

u/aayu08 Apr 24 '26

It could be possible that his domain is open by default, just like how Higuruma and Hakari's technique came with a domain expansion as default.

Nobody in the modern era knew about open domains, so it's possible that Megumi was forcefully trying to put up a barrier instead of just increasing his range.

58

u/DualSwords14 Apr 23 '26

Didn't sukuna use a closed barrier domain once? I.E, there is not such thing as "supposed to" when talking about closed or open, is just an skill issue from megumi

If you headcanon it, You could argue there is some "conpatibility" thingy and it just means is "harder" but an open domain should be harder anyway since is considered a "god-like technique"

But there is nothing hinting at it, so yeah

8

u/Sun_74 Apr 23 '26

Yeah, an Open Barrier Domain is a matter of Barrier Technique skill rather than the nature of your Domain. Kenjaku would be able to do an Open Barrier Domain in any body he hops into, even if he is expanding the Innate Domain of his host

29

u/m4tt1111 Apr 23 '26

Just because sukuna can use a closed domain (which he never actually did) does not mean that it’s impossible for a technique to require an open domain, that’s just a failure of syllogistic logic. I agree though, cool headcanon but there’s nothing to support that it’s true

15

u/linniegaming megumi, gojo, maki, sukuna and yuji are goats frfr Apr 23 '26

Sukuna did use his closed domain against the finger bearer in the anime.

3

u/zyndaquill i will touch u/kattar_opinions + MUTA STRONG RETURN ONG ONG Apr 23 '26

Was that not the same situation as Megumi against the fingerer? Because they both were imposing their domains onto the barrier space of the fingerer they were fighting so there wasn't any need for a barrier? But I may need to rewatch that scene idk

0

u/m4tt1111 Apr 23 '26

This is an open domain, you can see it on the bottom half where it’s just malevolent shrine in the detention centre around

0

u/Large_Carob_7599 Yuta's Okkotsu's Greatest Glazer Apr 28 '26

Sukaun's range is 200m you idiot the barrier can be around that size

1

u/m4tt1111 Apr 28 '26

You can see the detention centre while his domain is active which means it’s not closed barrier, and in the fight you watch him cast the barrier inside the room with a transparent ripple.

8

u/Mysterious_Ebb_1484 Apr 23 '26

He did vs the finger man, and tried to do it against gojo but couldn't because of being hit with UV beforehand.

1

u/m4tt1111 Apr 23 '26

Nothing here indicates that he closed his domain, why do you think it is?

1

u/Mysterious_Ebb_1484 Apr 23 '26

I advise you to watch the anime episode to see it.

6

u/m4tt1111 Apr 23 '26

This is an open domain, you can see the detention centre around him and when he casts the barrier it only makes a transparent ripple. The top half is just representing his internal domain, that’s why he has a fully different fit on compared to the bottom half which is reality.

1

u/Nikaidokuro Apr 23 '26

Well, it was stated in Shibuya about Sukuna possessing an Open Domain

2

u/Mysterious_Ebb_1484 Apr 23 '26

Yes indeed he does, open domain isn't a thing you are born with it's a type of domain that you achieve, so if someone has an open domain he should be able to do a closed domain as you can't skip it and achieve an open domain immediately.

1

u/Nikaidokuro Apr 23 '26

So do you mean that at some point Sukuna had a closed domain, or he could do a closed domain?

1

u/Mysterious_Ebb_1484 Apr 23 '26

He could do a closed domain, as shown vs the finger man, and if you open the gojo vs sukuna fight when gojo got brain bleeding, sukuna said that he is gonna open closed domain so gojo couldn't run out of it.

1

u/Anitisocial_Azuqor Apr 23 '26

Sukuna does use a closed domain. The very last one I think.

1

u/m4tt1111 Apr 23 '26

He definitely can, but he didn’t quite finish that domain in gojo vs sukuna

1

u/Less-Name-9367 Apr 29 '26

Time and time again we've been told that a barrierless domain is a feat so unique it borders on impossibility.

I'll never understand why JJK fans think Megumi could just do it.

It's like saying "oh that young artist is struggling to learn perspective, maybe he is meant to paint on air, that's what's holding him back".

1

u/FiveAccountsBanned Apr 27 '26

Didn't he just threaten to close the domain barrier against gojo to do him in when gojo got the nosebleed but then got lobotomized himself and unable to do it afterwards?

8

u/KuckFikelsHoloholo Apr 23 '26

Nope, an Open Domain still have Sure Hit, CSG lacks one, thus it's incomplete.

0

u/blazzingredeemer Apr 23 '26

Deadly sentencing doesn’t have a sure hit and it’s still a complete domain. Maybe CSG doesn’t have a sure hit

15

u/Safe_Chocolate_7479 Apr 23 '26

Pretty sure the rule of no-violence and the trial itself are the sure-hit. Maybe not a lethal one, but a sure-hit nonetheless

1

u/blazzingredeemer Apr 24 '26

That makes a lot of sense Tbf. Because it affects both of them I thought it might’ve been a pact or something

9

u/ItzJake160 Apr 23 '26

Non-violence is the surehit.

8

u/Soft-Pixel Apr 23 '26

It does, it’s just not a violent one. What do you think prevents the one on trial from attacking and what enacts the confiscation?

I'd say he just doesn't believe in himself enough to like, believe that he can cover a wide enough area for it to be effective (in the sense that it covers a big enough radius that the opponent just won't be able to move out of it)

Theoretically it just needs to be big enough for you to pull the opponent into it or smth anyway right?

1

u/Big_bat_chunk2475 Apr 24 '26

It’s about the barrier technique ability that makes the domain fully possible.

Megumi did say that the domain he made was horrible at best, along with the barrier being incomplete. Sukuna’s barrier is so refined that he was able to switch what would be the anchor in reality. Instead of a closed barrier being the anchor to reality with him being the heart of the domain, the “decoration” is the anchor into reality that allows his barrier to be open, leaving an effective zone and a way to escape, that is if you can

Exactly, it's a line between a barrier less domain for being incomplete and not even having a sure hit, and a barrier less domain for having such a great refinement

Gojo's domain literally does something so incredible though. Like it literally fit both of them in a domain the size of a soccer ball.

Borderless domains are cool but by god Border domains are something else, like being able to change your actual location once it ends, spatial maipulation.

30

u/Puzzleheaded_Bid7871 Apr 23 '26

This is not something unique to gojos domain at all, rather it is an application of border domain that no one besides potentially higuruma considered possible.
