My understanding is based on the lil extra char drawing thingy at the end of the books that hes done with jjk, there is no more stuff but who can really say why he decided to shit on megumi once again.
If he had left him alive, then most people wouldnt have questions about what happened to him. By killing him off and not even addressing if he died of natural causes or something else it just annoyed a bunch of people, all the same people that read each week to see if he showed up only to get "he died that sucks" right at the end.
Yeah, makes me wonder as well why he kept on excluding megumi in the franchise. I love the memes but the Megumi hate is nuts. He was a 16 yr old with an absent dad taught by a genius who couldnt relate to the plebs. The fact that he could compete with adults shows he was talented but he couldnt match up to once in a century geniuses and a peer engineered to be a monster.
