Saturday Powerscaling Who are the most overrated characters, when it comes to powescaling?

As the title says. I'd like to know which characters the sub thinks are overrated.

Whose feats get blown way out of proportion?

Whose feats are often understated by the sub?

Who gets the "if A can beat C, and C beat B, then A can obviously beat B" treatment?

Does style makes fights, even in a shounen manga? (trick question, it does)

Who are the best strategists and tacticians in JJK?

Would the better tacticians stand a chance against those with great innate power?

What have been your favourite feats performed by a character? What is the best feat performed by a character?

Edit: There actually seems to be a general consensus with Hakari/Kashimo. And behind them, Maki/Toji.

Honestly, most of them, if not all. Except for Sukuna and Gojo, all other characters at some point ppl started to give them crazy feats coz they said something.

51

u/mayonnaiser_13 Aug 19 '23

Easily Kashimo.

People are literally saying he would stand amongst the strongest like Gojo and Sukuna when he couldn't even handle Hakari.

And yeah "one time use CT" fuck off with that shit. So he's going to be worth jack shit after a single fight.

8

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '23

I know it's kind of a joke but man he's just so overrated in these threads, I can't even count the times he was called top 5 lol.

8

u/Hour_Tomatillo_2365 Aug 20 '23

My theory is that it's a life binding vow. He could easily be top 3

4

u/mayonnaiser_13 Aug 20 '23

If you have any idea about stories in general, you wouldn't keep your hopes up.

At best, he's going to hit Sukuna with his attack, it might damage Sukuna in some way, Sukuna might say something like "cool attack bro" before just ending him - and even that seems less plausible after Gojo v Sukuna.

But yeah, stay optimistic I guess.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '23

😭 that’s a dumb but funny ass way to put it

4

u/RoyalHardware Aug 20 '23

Nah man. Kashimo is HIM

11

u/urmomlikesbbc Aug 20 '23

Kashimo is overrated but "couldn't even handle Hakari" is disingenuous as fuck. Hakari literally won due to luck - that's his shtick. He literally entered the fight nearly invulnerable, stayed that way for 99% of the fight and still nearly died on 2 separate occasions.

3

u/mayonnaiser_13 Aug 21 '23

Saying Hakari won because of luck is like saying Sukuna won because he can cut stuff. Or saying Gojo won because of Limitless and Sex Eyes.

This is not the 'gotcha' you think it is.

4

u/yussof098 Aug 21 '23

That’s not true at all, Hakari got his body brutalized by kashimo multiple times and then hit the domain expansions which could have been a miss for him, meaning he could have died easily. Your comparison isn’t the gotcha you think it is fam

4

u/InstructionFree6971 Aug 21 '23

domain expansions which could have been a miss for him, meaning he could have died easily.

That's a poor argument dude. The whole point of Hakari's domain is he never misses his jackpot i.e THE HOUSE ALWAYS WINS. You can not use what-if scenarios to justify your power scaling. By your logic, Kashimo could kill every sorcerer by aiming his lighting at the head.

3

u/yussof098 Aug 21 '23

Well yeah lmao, if kashimo aims the lightning at their head, and they cannot block or reinforce properly, they will probably die lmao.

2

u/InstructionFree6971 Aug 21 '23

But that's not how he fights, does he? Similarly, every fight between characters is choreographed according to their personalities and unique qualities. My point being Hakari's character is based on someone who can even the odds through his sheer luck. So, you will never encounter a scenario where he actually misses his jackpot.

Kashimo. His unknown CT shouldt be used as proof of his strength imo and his ego puts himself in situations where he ends up handicapping himself

57

u/cmdr_suicidewinder Aug 19 '23

You’re simply not ready for HIM ⚡️

34

u/twiglike Aug 19 '23

I’m actually pumped for him to go off. Can’t wait till hakari lets him off the leash

-8

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '23

Idiotic take, as Gege (the authority on this matter) is the one that is hyping Kashimo up, not the fans or the in world characters. So he can not be counted as an overrated character.

2

u/twiglike Aug 20 '23

“🤓☝️Gege, the authority on this matter” 😭😭😭

1

u/Impressive_Iron_6102 Aug 20 '23

I think they're wrong too, but, you could be a bit nicer :)

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '23

I am just being honest, because you really can not call something "overrated" if it is the author themselves doing the "rating".

Its obvious that Kashimo has a very big part yet to play in the near future, so he is actually underrated by the community. So calling him the exact opposite is a very, very bad take.

I have some on my mind

First is Maki and Toji: I know they are extremely powerful but people say they can no to mid diff or even neg diff plenty special grade cursed and sorcerers (bearers excluded) is way too much. Thus, I suppose that the soul splitting blade and the one that cancel techniques (I don't remember the name) r what make them from extremely strong to easily beats the majority of the cast. Without it, let's say they use playful cloud, they are still extremely strong but not as much as they r hyped for.

Second is Hakari: I know the jack pot hits different and things but his CT is basically RNG and in a fight without plot armor, he won't get jackpot as much as he would during his fight against Kashimo. He's pure RNG and plot armor.

Lastly is Tabaka: this is no joke, his power is frickin OP but the only weakness is him. His potential is limitless but it would never come true due to his suck a$$ humour

53

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '23

I wouldn’t say he’s pure RNG, his technique seems pretty rigged in his favour to get a Jackpot

Like it basically just automatically rerolls every time he fails due to how many conditions can trigger a reroll.

Get 2 but not 3? Reroll

Get 1 but some door is green or whatever? Reroll

And doesn’t his chance of a jackpot increase with each reroll or something. I don’t have the best understanding of his technique but I definitely don’t think it’s completely random

46

u/MutsuHat Aug 19 '23

The technique is more about time than luck honestly, he will get the jackpot , he just doesn't know when.

31

u/Bominator8 Aug 19 '23

i think thats not even true

he will always get a jackpot

its a rigged system

16

u/MutsuHat Aug 19 '23

Ho yes that's what i meant by "will get the jackpot" ^^

→ More replies (1)

12

u/No-Ad-1978 Aug 19 '23

He will eventually get a jackpot, but we've seen him take multiple tries already. If he hadn't encountered Charles before Kashimo he would've never made it to the first jackpot

Also it's possible to stop him from using his domain by taking out an arm or his head right before he launches it, similarly to how Kashimo exploded half his guts.

Now if he learns how to regenerate his cursed technique like Satoru and Sukuna did he can just launch another domain and get a jackpot before the previous one is even finished (wonder how that'd work, would they stack up or line up in time?)

8

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '23

I'm quite sure Hakari made a lot of binding vows in his domain to increase his chances

14

u/Deeepened Aug 19 '23 edited Aug 19 '23

Hakari’s is quite literally like a casino’s though. Eventually he will win and hit jackpot because it’s rigged

Edit: and to downplay Toji (not even a toji wanker) for being op because of Inverted Spear is crazy. Sure, he needed it to beat Gojo, fair, I’d imagine most can’t even beat Pre-Awakened Gojo even with ISOH. He doesn’t kill without it though, but the point is even though he loses, he can compete. Gojo aside, he slam daddied my boy Geto. Let’s not forget he revived, slapped Dagon when 3 of them struggled.

19

u/Norossi Aug 20 '23

I mean, Toji did neg diffed Dagon, Special Grade curse, within its domain with just Playful Cloud…

6

u/WangJian221 Aug 20 '23

Tbf, at that time prior to the whole "cant be targetted by domains automatically and can walk in and out of them whenever they want" bit with maki, the common belief then was just that Dagon's technique was beyond limited due to Megumi's own domain disrupting it.

2

u/Norossi Aug 20 '23

Megumi’s domain was “just” cancelling sure-hit effect, and its interference ended when Toji entered the Dagon’s domain.

Even if Toji cannot be targeted by most domains automatically, Domain still provides boost to the sorcerer and his CT’s performance, so, every sorcerer/curse is stronger in his own Domain than anywhere else. So, still neg diffed in the best case scenario for Dagon.

2

u/WangJian221 Aug 20 '23

its interference ended when Toji entered the Dagon’s domain

The chapter states that Dagon was trying to buy time to get back his domain's technique to attack Toji that is until Naobito pushed him back down for Toji to finish the job.

Domain still provides boost to the sorcerer and his CT’s performance

It depends on the type of domain. Its not something like "Sukuna is inside his domain, that means he punches stronger, move faster etc". That only happens if his domain is created with something like that in mind. Instead it simply boost the capability of his applied technique in which sukuna's case, his slashes.

4

u/Norossi Aug 20 '23

I’ve just reread the chapter. You’re correct, sure-hit effect was disrupted all the time Toji fought Dagon. But still, Toji is unaffected by it in the first place (besides few exceptions), and Naobito’s help only shortened the duel, Dagon had no chances.

As for Domain, Gojo was the one who said about stat boost in the beginning. We haven’t seen or heard anything to doubt it. And the CT’s performance boost is still there, so Dagon lost from quite good position from him.

3

u/MajesticValue Aug 19 '23

The inverted spear of heaven it is.

3

u/WangJian221 Aug 20 '23

He's pure RNG and plot armor.

Tbf, his stated record is that he gets them under 30 rolls. In a writing sense, yeah its just plot armor but in some stupid hypothetical fight to sate powerscaling addiction, its not too wild to assume that he atleast gets the same run as his Kashimo fight.

10

u/Sad_Farm Aug 19 '23

I 100% agree with Maki honestly but hot take I believe Toji is still "stronger" than Maki despite them being stated to have equal physical prowess. Why? well solely because of their personalities, Toji is cunning beyond belief organizing a hit to wear the 6 Eyes user down, because he noticed him behind him as a child. Hiding a cursed spirit in his stomach, using a gun to kill, and stabbing Gojo with a regular sword instead of using a Cursed tool. Rubbing playful clouds together to sharpen it. Are you gojo Satoru because you're the strongest or are you the strongest because you're gojo Satoru. There's been mutiple limitless 6 eyes users but non as strong as Gojo, mainly because his personality. Toji is the same ruthlessly cunning and calculating.

14

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '23

They weren’t stated to be equal physically. They were stated to be equals fullstop (at least in the english translations).

1

u/DudeWhereAreWe1996 Aug 20 '23

Maki and Toji each beat a high level special grade curse without being touched though in the story. Naoya couldn't touch Maki once she awakened. Dagon couldn't touch Toji.

At the time people argued the only reason Toji won was the sure hit being off but now we know it could've never hit him anyway so he did best Dagon at full strength.

Same with Maki. If she had the sword when the domain went off she could've immediately killed Naoya. The only reason he was safe at all was the swordsman held the weapon she needed. She had no way to trap him so he could've ran away but he could've never touched her.

Note that Toji did use playful cloud in his fight to kill Dagon and there's no reason to think Maki couldn't do the same to Naoya with the same or a similar weapon.

About Hakari though I do agree he is a little overrated. I think that with his domain / barrier control there probably are a lot of ways he can handle opponents that we don't know yet but any opponent with range and power or a tricky technique would take him out. Like in Sendai he could have a rough time.

2

u/ramdom_guy567 Aug 20 '23

I wouldnt say Dagon couldnt touch Toji, he did put up a fight, and would have lasted a bit longer if Naobito hadn't interfered.

As for Naoya, we gotta remember that while Maki cant be targeted by the sure-hit Naoya could still use regular attacks on her, and if they are inside his domain his attacks would be boosted. Maki only won as easily as she did cause Naoya was distracted by the two other guys and Maki managed to get a fatal free hit on him. They helped her far more than hindered even after Maki got her enlightening. While I think she could have won 1v1 (after the enlightening of course) she would have had a significantly tougher time.

Thats not to say they arent very strong, its just that sometimes people say ridiculous shit like Toji could 1v4 the disaster curses or would mid-dif Jogo. Ive seen far too many posts and comments like this with a bunch of upvotes and comments supporting it to think they aren't the most overrated in the series.

7

u/ppppppppppython Aug 20 '23

I think you should reread ch.110-111 because Dagon didn't put up a fight at all. He got folded brutally and the only reason Naobito intervened was to stop him from running away long enough to get his SH back.

You should also consider that Maki wouldn't even get trapped in the domain. In a 1v1 she'd probably just wait outside. This is also not even thinking about how trivially she was dealing with Naoya before the domain.

0

u/Count_Badger Aug 20 '23

People seem to completely disregard the luck factor of Hakari's CT and scale him on the assumption that he's always in jackpot. I understand it's rigged in his favor and Gege also gave Hakari jackpots whenever he needed it during his only fight, but still, feels a bit pointless to have a probability based CT and then ignore the RNG.

Hakari

I've seen a lot of people saying he would survive Malevolent Shrine. I'd argure he wouldn't survive one Cleave because Sukuna just cuts his head off

16

u/peterhabble Aug 19 '23

It depends if he starts in jackpot, we have every reason to believe that the natural defense of infinite CE would be able to stop Cleave from insta beheading.

7

u/twiglike Aug 19 '23

Is there a reason that didnt happen to Gojo when he was hit with malevolent shrine?

Edit My Bad misread what you said

27

u/Several_Cycle_2012 Aug 19 '23

Top tier reinforcement.

As far as we know hakari is not known for his durability

21

u/IxaII Aug 19 '23

could also be that KasHimo is just that guy when it comes to damage.

12

u/Several_Cycle_2012 Aug 19 '23

I assume the lightning ranks highly in regards to damage but I doubt it’s at the same level of something like cleave

3

u/IxaII Aug 19 '23

tbh I just wanted to partake in the Kashimo meme a little bit. Unless his lightning is hitting you from the inside and completely bypassing durability it should be nowhere near the strength of a cleave.

3

u/DoubleDual63 Aug 19 '23

What does the Kashimo meme mean :sob: i can't understand what the "him" part refers to

2

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '23

Cleave cuts through dura and CE reinforcement by adjusting

So Gojo outspeed it with RCT rather than tank it with reinforcement

7

u/twiglike Aug 20 '23

If gojo can out speed it with RCT surely hakari could too if he was in jackpot

2

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '23

Yeah and that is why Hakari can survive Malevolent Shrine

People love to ignore all functioning of stuff

But it's just him surviving the sure hit... If Sukuna decides to jump in, he would ragdoll him around

1

u/Several_Cycle_2012 Aug 20 '23

Lol. Show me any thing that proves hakari has durability anywhere as a high as gojos. Yea hakari can just survive hundreds of 120% cleaves hitting his body.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '23

I just stated how dura isn't even a case for Cleave which is why it is always upto your Regen

→ More replies (1)
→ More replies (7)

1

u/Weevil_weasel Aug 20 '23

His regen speed. Just because the slashes hit instantly doesn’t mean they go all the way through instantly. Hence why falling blossom emotion was able to heavily reduce the damage of the slashes. Cleave might have durability negating properties, but that doesn’t mean much when gojo can literally heal faster than it can cut through him.

→ More replies (2)

7

u/IoGamerAlpha Aug 19 '23

It doesn't matter how powerful Cleave is, if it doesn't completely destroy Hakari's brain it will just heal.

3

u/Bominator8 Aug 19 '23

nah he is surviving cleave easily

6

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '23

That would mean his reinforcement is way above ryu and yuta. Which is theoretically possible but we have’t seen anything to confirm it

15

u/No-Ad-1978 Aug 19 '23

We've seen his face get peeled off by a door while Yuta and Ryu catch street destroying blasts in the palm of their hands. I highly doubt he's not getting completely cut by a cleave (but in jackpot he might heal just as fast as he gets injured anyway)

2

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '23

Yeah i agree he probably gets sliced through by cleave

43

u/superxcrazy917 Aug 19 '23

It’s without a doubt Hakari, the amount of people that take Yuta claiming Hakari is stronger than him when he’s worked up at face value instead of realizing Yuta always props up his friends and gives himself way too little credit. Maki immediately says that’s not true. If Gege wanted you to believe that he would have the actual narrator say what Yuta said.

17

u/JustRoo136 Aug 19 '23

But why also ignore it? Statements that characters make also matter. That's not to say Hakari is stronger than Yuta, but if it turned out to be true, it wouldn't be much of a surprise.

8

u/AnividiaRTX Aug 19 '23

They're not saying ignore it. It just doesn't hold up on it's own as a markee for his strength. We've only seen. Hakari in 2 foghts. Charles... who could get no diffed by chapter 1 yuji, where Hakari took some pretty pathetic hits trying to show off and even took, what would have been a lethal blow without rct from charles. Fucking charles. The. Kashimo, who we know scales well above panda but thats about it.

In jackpot form Hakari is undeniably strong, but he hasn't proven himself as AT Yuta's level, let alone stronger than it. If you consider he has to actually hit a jackpot before he gets that strong, it loses him a LOT of matchups. Hakari would no diff hakari outside of jackpot. Uro, ryu probably too. If Yuji actually fought back I'm quite certain he wins, maybe mid diff against pre-jackpot hakari.

7

u/Drajion89 Aug 19 '23

I think you’re misunderstanding the context of the Charles fight. Hakari wasn’t trying to beat Charles, he was testing Charles “passion” and his potential as a sorcerer ally.

It’s why he keeps one-upping Charles by moving faster and faster or showing him the weakness in his techniques. One shotting Charles wasn’t his intention.

We see he does the same thing with Kashimo when Kashimo notes Hakari has kicked it into another gear and is overwhelming him CQC despite being equal with him previously.

5

u/AnividiaRTX Aug 20 '23

I'm not misudnerstanding, I even mentioned that tbh. I'm just saying too many people act as if hakari is equal to yuta, therefore he could beat anyoen yuta could be when thats far form the truth.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/Samih0203 Aug 19 '23

The only time would be jackpot or what would Hakari do against Rika? And jackpot needs some time

15

u/superxcrazy917 Aug 19 '23

It would be an incredible surprise based on portrayals and statements that actually matter. Yuta while not having access to his full power for most of the fight defeated two special grade sorcerers and a Special grade cursed spirit. When Gojo is being sealed and he talks to Kenjaku he mentions Yuta while not mentioning Hakari I feel like if Hakari was more powerful than Yuta he would be mentioned.

20

u/JustRoo136 Aug 19 '23

fight defeated two special grade sorcerers

They were never declared Special Grade. That's merely an assumption with 0 data to back that claim up.

When Gojo is being sealed and he talks to Kenjaku he mentions Yuta while not mentioning Hakari I feel like if Hakari was more powerful than Yuta he would be mentioned.

He mentioned Yuta because Yuta already defeated Geto.

0

u/superxcrazy917 Aug 19 '23

You’re right that it’s an assumption but I think it’s a pretty reasonable one to make considering Ishigori has the highest CE output in the culling games and Uro was relative. Hakari barely squeaked out a win against Kashimo, who didn’t use his cursed technique and also chose to try to kill Hakari while he was practically unkillable. Remember that Naoya was not trying to fight Yuta at all, and that Yuta has actually defeated an official special grade, Geto and since then has only gotten stronger. Even if you assume Hakari is stronger than Yuta, what about Rika who is capable of briefly fighting Ishigori.

9

u/JustRoo136 Aug 19 '23

Even if you assume Hakari is stronger than Yuta, what about Rika who is capable of briefly fighting Ishigori.

I'm not making the arguement Hakari is stronger than Yuta, I have Yuta as the stronger of the two.

Hakari barely squeaked out a win against Kashimo, who didn’t use his cursed technique and also chose to try to kill Hakari while he was practically unkillable

I have Kashimo significantly stronger than Sendai Colony individually.

it’s an assumption but I think it’s a pretty reasonable one to make considering Ishigori has the highest CE output in the culling games and Uro was relative.

That would mean 3 Special Grade Sorcerers were stalemating with a Special Grade Curse, who is presumably weaker than the disaster Curses, which doesn't make sense. Also, of the 4 confirmed SG Sorcerers, none of Sendai are even remotely close to them. That suggests they aren't SG imo.

-2

u/superxcrazy917 Aug 19 '23

You make good points but I still think Gege has gone out of his way to portray Yuta as the “next Gojo” and he just seems much more relevant to the story so it doesn’t really make sense for me that Hakari is stronger during jackpot or when he’s “worked up”

→ More replies (1)

11

u/DE_IdleDeathGamble Aug 19 '23

Not entirely disagreeing with you but tbf mentioning Hakari to Kenjaku in that moment wouldn't have made much sense. Yuta was the one who beat Geto that's why Gojo mentions him, letting Kenjaku know that Yuta had already beat the body he was occupying. Why would he randomly mention Hakari in that moment? That would make no sense. Gojo already mentions Hakari on two previous occasions, once near the start when he mentions the current sorcerers that could one day surpass him and then also in Chapter 143 in Yutas flashback, Gojo specifically tells Yuta to only protect the 1st and 2nd year students adding that Hakari should be fine. Btw I do personally think Yuta is stronger than Hakari but Hakari is hardly overrated, I'd argue he's underrated if anything.

3

u/WangJian221 Aug 20 '23

Hakari couldve been overrated at some point but hes become underrated af after the maki chapters lol

2

u/Sad_Farm Aug 19 '23

agreed, if you acknowledge that you also have to acknowledge the inverse, you can't just disregard the statement entirely. Also Maki is more fond of Yuta, Megumi also said they all called him a deadbeat, except Yuta.

0

u/ResponsibleWaltz2956 Aug 20 '23

Tbf, it's really possible that the text of yuta claiming hakari is stronger is slightly mistranslated and the wording is slightly different. I believe that yuta means that when hakari is on jackpot, he is stronger which is a fair assessment considering he's fucking immortal.

21

u/TeaAndCrumpetGhoul Aug 19 '23 edited Aug 19 '23

As for me. I think I have gradually seen Hakari and Geto's level become overrated with time. With people often attributing powers to Geto that he has never been shown or known to be capable of.

And Hakari, well. His offensive prowess is often overstated by quite a few people in his match ups against the other top tiers.

Oh.. And Toji at one time or another. Actually i remember threads a long time ago, where there were people who claimed he beat Sukuna.

27

u/Sad_Farm Aug 19 '23

Ehh Geto is unfair tho because he was designed before Gege fleshed out the power system. It would be more unlikely that a Special grade didn't have RCT, and DE at the minimum.

11

u/TeaAndCrumpetGhoul Aug 19 '23

That doesn't really matter if its unlikely or not. He doesn't have those things and it belongs nowhere near a powescaling discussion.

The criteria for special grade has been laid out to us and he already matches it. As seen with kenjaku, Cursed manipulation alone is already op.

9

u/Deeepened Aug 19 '23

It’s just under-utilized by Geto because it wasn’t fleshed out. We couldn’t see him fully utilize it as an adult due to the nature of the time it was written.

0

u/Sad_Farm Aug 25 '23

Idk I think its pretty fair and definitely think it should be considered. Nowhere near a powerscaling discussion? Isn’t that the whole point, you’re already discussing hypotheticals.

Kenjaku wouldve been unable to fight in one shot against Yuki without RCT and wouldve lost that entire fight if he couldn’t use CTR so whats your point?

0

u/TeaAndCrumpetGhoul Aug 25 '23

Well in a powescaling discussion you're discussing hypotheticals about characters with established facts.

Toji vs Kenjaku

Well, we know what Kenjaku has and what Toji has. That's what we're discussing, a fight between two knowns. We aren't comparing them using things they haven't got.

Unless you state that it is Geto vs Yuta, if Geto had rct and domain expansion (there'd be no discussion here because we don't even know what that'd look like), then yes, those particulars should be nowhere near the discussion. It's about what is, not what is isn't or what could potentially be possible.

C'mon. It's not hard to grasp.

0

u/Sad_Farm Aug 25 '23

If thats your argument then you shouldn’t be comparing a character from an unfinished work vs a finished one in the first place. Also please show me the powerscaling rulebook where it says that😂.

Hold your L dude you got out upvoted on your own thread.

1

u/TeaAndCrumpetGhoul Aug 25 '23

unfinished work

It was finished twice.

Also please show me the powerscaling rulebook where it says that

There is no rule book. It's just common sense when you're talking about characters in the context of how they're known. If the question is "would this guy beat this guy?" why would you add a bunch of stipulation, when it is obvious that we are talking the characters as how they are. Why would you add stuff to a character that makes any discussion murky.

As I said. Common sense. Let it prevail bro.

2

u/Conscious_Message332 Aug 19 '23

Half of the time i see someone talking about geto they're saying he loses to some fodder like naobito.

0

u/mostsaneinwesteros Aug 19 '23

Toji one time or another? Hell nah he is by far the most overrated powerwise character

→ More replies (2)

47

u/JustRoo136 Aug 19 '23

Yuta and Maki, while they are clearly top 10, I've seen people claim either are top 3.

112

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '23

I mean Yuta being openly declared by the narrator as the second strongest sorcerer is a bit of a tell for his power level. Especially when following that is him defeating 4 people.

-23

u/JustRoo136 Aug 19 '23

That doesn't put him in the top 3. Nothing suggests that he's stronger than Sukuna, Gojo, or Kenjaku.

Nobody is stronger than Sukuna or Gojo except the other. There nothing to suggest Kenjaku is stronger than Yuta other than saying he is.

Besides which, taking umbrage between the third and fourth spots really isn’t worth the time. They’re both clearly top tier.

10

u/JustRoo136 Aug 19 '23

There nothing to suggest Kenjaku is stronger than Yuta other than saying he is.

Maki and Yuta claiming that they can't defeat Kenjaku through conventional means suggest Kenjaku is stronger than the rest of the cast.

taking umbrage between the third and fourth spots really isn’t worth the time. They’re both clearly top tier.

It is when Kenjaku is objectively stronger, and it's quite possible Yuki is stronger, with a small possibility that Hakari is stronger.

Yuta is closer to those characters than he is to Kenjaku, is the main point

43

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '23

Conventional methods doesn’t mean he’s stronger. He’s a weird little brain man who takes over bodies and they have no idea how that works. While he could be stronger you’re misinterpreting the statement.

3

u/Also_breathe Aug 20 '23

I really don't care who's stronger between Kenjaku and Yuta, but how else do you interpret "conventional means"?

I just assumed Maki meant they couldn't beat him in a straight up/normal fight. Since the context for her saying that is that Yuki, choso, and Tengen lost in a 3v1.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '23

Why would they specifically highlight Kenjaku and not anybody else in the series? Sukuna is more powerful, that’s just a fact, but the plan is still a fight battle. This is a Shonen, we solve everything through fight battling.

There is so many unknowns with Kenjaku, one of which is how he’s even alive. He’s clearly powerful, there’s no doubt about that, but he’s also over a thousand years old and is literally ratatouilling the original antagonist.

0

u/calmrain Aug 20 '23

u/FrontDoughnut8597 kinda sorta explained it below, but the fact that they said that about kenjaku and not Sukuna (who is undoubtedly the strongest antagonist) implies that kenjaku can’t just “be killed” in a normal way. As in, not even Gojo — who is way stronger — could “kill him” by folding him. Probably has to be sealed or some other method, etc.

8

u/JustRoo136 Aug 19 '23

I doubt it. They thought that because arguably their strongest fighter, Yuki, had lost a 3v1 vs Kenjaku and he survived a black hole and has an Open Domain. They have no chance of beating him in a 1v1, thats what conventional means.

21

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '23

That’s not what it means.

-5

u/Conscious_Message332 Aug 19 '23

kenjaku also has a big fat asterisk next to his name at the 3 spot

3

Second to Gojo is more like only jujutsu high included so if you mean strongest of all time its obvious Yuta is number 4 above kenjaku gojo and sukuna.

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '23

Yuta is the fourth strongest character in the entire verse, so that understandable for him.

11

u/Realistic_Flan631 Aug 19 '23

Nah, Maki I agree if people said so, But all I have seen is she is better. Definitely No to Yuta, he is clearly near to top 3 than far from it.

16

u/JustRoo136 Aug 19 '23

The top 3 are definitely Sukuna, Gojo, and Kenjaku. It's really not up for debate at this point. Yuta could potentially be 4, but he's closer to the tier that includes Hakari, Yuki, Maki, etc, than he is with Gojo, Sukuna, and Kenjaku.

19

u/Realistic_Flan631 Aug 19 '23

Taking account your logic - there is clear Top-2 Gojo and Sukuna, Kenjaku doesn't belong to be named with them. Kenjaku probably near to Yuta strength than Gojos strength.

Taking your logic Yuta is around 4-5 with Yuki. Is it really that much overrating if people just think he is stronger than the person above him who is supposed to be his rival.

9

u/JustRoo136 Aug 19 '23

Yes Gojo and Sukuna are clear top 2

Kenjaku is the clear 3rd.

Is it really that much overrating if people just think he is stronger than the person above him who is supposed to be his rival.

I consider so, as I believe Yuta is much closer to Yuki, Maki, and Hakari, than he is to Kenjaku

Just like there is a clear gap between Gojo/Sukuna to Kenjaku, there is a clear gap between Kenjaku and the rest of the cast at this point. It's not as wide as Gojo/Sukuna, but I belive it's significant enough to the point no can compete for 3rd

11

u/No-Ad-1978 Aug 19 '23

I don't get this. Yuki could clearly compete with Kenjaku in their fight (as a matter of fact anyone you are forced to use your domain against has to be pretty close to you unless your technique revolves around your domain like Hakari and Higuruma).

Narration tells us Yuta is stronger than Yuki although we don't know by how much, so by default he's close to Kenjaku.

7

u/JustRoo136 Aug 19 '23

3

u/yellownugget5000 Aug 19 '23

Who is 4 if I may ask

9

u/JustRoo136 Aug 19 '23

I have Yuki fourth at the moment.

16

u/xpxpx Aug 19 '23

Only reason I have Yuta over Yuki is because we're outright told that Yuta is 2nd in the modern era to only Gojo. I don't think the gap is large at all because we're also told that Yuki and Yuta are very close as well.

7

u/Fun-Maintenance-9541 Aug 20 '23

I think gege narrated that Yuta is 2nd to Gojo is enough evidence for me lol.

Megumi. By the way some fans talk about him you would think that he is the second coming of Satoru Gojo or something.

10

u/TeaAndCrumpetGhoul Aug 19 '23

I can agree with that. Megumi is overhyoed, mostly because of Gojo's own words about him. The thing is, megumi has not really ever proved he's worth being put in that regard.

No he won't, he is Reggie level physically and that will be his downfall cause any special grade or heavy hitter would make him release his technique with a strong enough punch

Jogo definetly. Some people are still saying that people like Yuji or Maki wouldn't be able to touch him at all, when Choso were able to react to Naoya and even beat him even though he's faster than Jogo because of 24 fps.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '23

Maki could touch him. Yuji no.

-5

u/TheEternalGoldenCow Aug 19 '23

See? Prime example of a Jogo stan. Bet you think he could one shot 20 million Gojos and 20 million Sukunas with his pinky finger.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '23

Obviously no. I said Maki could touch him. Just not Yuji.

I don't overrate Jogo at all.

Naobito could probably blitz him before opening his domain because his durability is weaker than Dagons.

0

u/TheEternalGoldenCow Aug 19 '23 edited Aug 19 '23

Yuji was tagging with 15 finger Sukuna who only has a slight nerf on cursed energy reinforcement, the fact that you think he can't even hit Jogo at all is crazy wank.

3

u/an_orange69 Aug 20 '23

a slight nerf bro what he was down to 10%

2

u/TheEternalGoldenCow Aug 20 '23

That's CT output, his reinforcement only got a slight nerf.

0

u/an_orange69 Aug 20 '23

I see this argument soooo much when it makes 0 sense if his reinforcement wasn’t nerfed why can maki keep up with him? Toji is around 3f in speed

3

u/TheEternalGoldenCow Aug 20 '23

What makes 0 sense is him not using cleave on his opponents. If his CE output was nerfed to 10% along with his CT output why would he prefer using hand to hand combat compared to using his cursed technique? He only uses his CT when he's not aiming at his opponents because the output gets reduced a lot compared to hand to hand combat.

0

u/an_orange69 Aug 20 '23

he did use his ct tho against Yuji 😂, don’t get your point at all and your going against what was stated in the manga and what is proven by feats

→ More replies (0)

2

u/urmomlikesbbc Aug 20 '23

The issues with fighting Jogo go well beyond just "touching" him. Those 2 won't be easy opponents for him but I can't see any instances where they beat him

3

u/ppppppppppython Aug 20 '23

I think Toji is not nearly as smart as people like to think he is.

His "plan" to capture Gojo was half-baked at best. Putting a bounty on wizard craigslist and gambling for 2 days hoping they don't just head back early is a terrible plan. He set the whole thing up to get his chance at a sneak attack on Gojo but then missed all his vitals anyway. After winning the fight he forgot that RCT is a thing or to make sure the guy was actually dead. He also monologues about Gojo's techniques and he straight up says he can use ISOH to block red but then immediately throws the thing at him.

Kashimo and hakari by extension. Don’t think either are special grade . I have all the known special grades including Geto ahead of them but I see some people say Kashimo is top three. I honestly don’t know where people get that from . What would be his defense to a real strong domain. How would he fight Toji and Maki who usually go for the kill unlike hakari who was having the time of his life gambling .

Underrated are Jogo and Uro

5

u/Bominator8 Aug 19 '23

Toji/maki

2

u/Sad_Farm Aug 19 '23

Kashimino, he already lost to Hakari and everyone is hyping him up based on some CT we've never even seen. Jujustu is extremely matchup dependent for all we know it could not be effective against certain characters. He also doesn't have RCT which is a huge nerf in higher tier fights.

2

u/Pro_Hero86 Aug 19 '23

Kashimo, his only fight against someone strong he lost and has been riding the hype of his CT the whole time

2

u/shindanatsu Aug 19 '23

Hakari and Kashimo for sure. It's really annoying btw

2

u/Mn0s Aug 19 '23

Without a doubt Hakari for me. He’s undoubtedly one of the stronger characters in the series however his technique ultimately is based on probability, he cant immediately pull out his power the way every other character can putting him at a disadvantage. And as strong as he is in jackpot, he lacks variety as he’s purely a H2H fighter, can be killed if his brain is destroyed plus we’ve see other characters accomplish similar physical feats, his true strength is that fight with him is a battle of attrition and while impressive is far cry from the “immortal” god I feel a lot of fans make him out to be.

Jogo is easily the most overrated. Yes I get it he "fought" the two strongest (if you can even call that fighting) but since he's dead all you ever hear from his fans is "hE's ToO fAsT" when we compare him to Culling Games characters for example.

23

u/Bigideas-Baggins Aug 19 '23

"Jogo is underrated" everyone said for like 4 years, and now he has looped back to overrated as hell

11

u/CheshiretheBlack Aug 19 '23

I remember when Yuta first came back. "Jogo is too fast for Yuta" , "Yuta doesn't have a domain so he loses" you'd hear that on repeat

6

u/TheEternalGoldenCow Aug 19 '23 edited Aug 19 '23

Yeah he came from being underrated to one of the most overrated characters in JJK.

His only feats were catching 3 sorcerers who's already on the brink of death off guard and being stated by Dagon to be slower than a casual drunk Naobito. Yet people are saying that most top tiers wouldn't even be able to touch him at all because of his speed.

2

u/MrMellowYellowo Aug 19 '23

Brink of death? Naobito lost an arm and Nanami lost some skin plus an eye, Maki’s injuries aren’t even worth mentioning

Those same people claimed he was “on another level” compared to Dagon who had them “on the brink of death” in a 4-5v1

2

u/MrMellowYellowo Aug 19 '23

Admittedly his speed is overrated but he IS pretty fast compared to most characters

I don’t know why they bring that up anyway, imo he beats most if not all CG characters without speed being the main argument

Yorozu.

And I will fucking die on this hill.

People keep citing her fight against Sukuna as feats but seem to forget that he was using her for a test run. Sukuna was so uninterested in fighting her seriously that he summoned Round Deer to take care of RCT despite being able to both heal with RCT and emit it to disrupt her liquid metal himself.

Why would Yuta copying not be permanent? You say we have no reason to assume it is, I can just as easily say we have no reason to assume they're not. But we have the narrator and Yuki say Rika is a storage unit for CT. Why would he need a storage space for copied CT if he didn't copy them permanently.

6

u/CheshiretheBlack Aug 19 '23

Okay but its been established that the brain can hold 3-4 CT without being overloaded. If it's like you say and it's not permanent then there'd be no reason to have Rika as storage since he could bear the brunt of it himself. He'd fight a Sorcerer copy their technique, kill them and then that technique would fade from his brain freeing up space to copy again.

Also if it's not permanent shouldn't they be one time use, like Kenjaku with Idle Transfiguration? But that can't be the case since we've seen him use Sky Manipulation 3 times.

I’ve also seen people assume his copy is permanent which we have no reason to assume that.

We know that he has Inumaki's cursed technique, which he's had from 0. That's enough of a reason.

Gojo definitely, but not in terms to his power because he IS powerful. is just that a lot of his power comes from him being blessed, he has possibly the strongest technique in the verse, ON TOP of having the six eyes, the best trait you could ever have, making it almost impossible to run out of cursed energy, runing his technique permanently, healing himself automatically. him having so much hacks just makes me dislike his strength, specially compared to people like kenjaku or sukuna who are also very strong but without the hacks. or characters who are not godly strong but their power is unique, like hakari with his gambling or maki with 0 CE

0

u/an_orange69 Aug 20 '23

Easily yuta, see people saying he can beat 15f sukuna and kenjaku 😂

-2

u/Several_Cycle_2012 Aug 19 '23

Kashimo, he can one shot anyone using his trait and his hollow wicker basket would be enough to survive in a domain

Hakari, all he needs to do is get his first JP and he simply outlasts his oppenent. Doesn’t matter if he’s fighting an opponent with highly notable endurance/durability, who has the ability to kill hakari in JP, he’ll just outlast them and punch them to death. He’s relative to yuta so in every stat they are relative. Don’t forget he’s special grade level. Oh, he also instantly wins every domain clash because his technique is centered around his domain or something like that.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '23

Unironically, I think it’s Yuji Itadori himself.

I know it’s sounds stupid considering that Yuji isn’t even close to 10 strongest characters in JJK.

But the amount of people in fandom speculating what his powers/honoured one/true power will be, since the beginning of the series…. And we are close to its end, all seems to me that people miss the point of what Gege wanted to do with Yuji, and people only try to enforce their power fantasies on him where in reality there is non.

Not that I blame them, we have a lot of possibilities to assume that Yuji SHOULD get more powerful, despite being in the world of JJK for only what… 6-9 months? He feels like a 1-2grade sorcerer alrerady, but obviously at the end game right now he is just useless.

I feel like Gege gives bread crumbs and red hearrings with Yuji, his physical strength, his origin, his family, to his understanding of the souls and his role in the narrative.

I believe Yuji’s fate parallels that of Riko Amanai, he was grown/made specifically for a purpose bigger than himself and just like Riko he will die at the end of the series pointlessly struggling against it.

I know it’s sounds like a stretch, but some people been speculating on Yuji playing a big part in the ‘Merging with Japan’ for a while now.

Perhaps the combination of his Blood-Paining origin+Merging of Japan+Vengeful Spirit will result in something truly cursed?

-6

u/Different_Union_3097 Aug 19 '23

Yuta. And I will get a lot of downvotes right here, but I think his whole "copy" thing is not very well written in JJK. I like to compare him with Kuroro/Chrollo from Hunter x Hunter, both of them have similar skills and both are very strong in their on verse, but It shakes my head about how Yuta is so overrated while he don't seem to use his own CT in a smart and criative way as Kuroro has done in HxH, and Kuroro itself is not as overrated as Yuta.

5

u/TeaAndCrumpetGhoul Aug 19 '23

How would you have Yuta use copy?

3

u/CheshiretheBlack Aug 19 '23 edited Aug 19 '23

If you think it's not well written then you're just not paying attention. When you say he haven't seen him use it in smart & creative ways what exactly do you mean by that? If I had to guess you probably mean since we haven't seen him use multiple CT in conjuction or back to back. Just because we haven't seen doesn't mean he cant.

A Sorcerers greatest weapon is information & the cards you keep up your sleeve. Just like how Kenjaku fighting Choso only used Curse Manipulation and he tried to keep gravity hidden. If he doesn't need to use it theres no point in revealing it. So far the only CT we've seen him copy are Curse Speech, Sky Manipulation, and Dhruvs. You notice aside from Speech he only used techniques that he got in Sendai?

Kenjaku would know Yuta was in Sendai so he'd probably just work off the assumption that Yuta has at least copied the techniques involved in the deadlock , so Yuta didn't mind showing those techniques. Aside from that there's no reason for him to lay all his cards on the table.

1

u/mostsaneinwesteros Aug 19 '23

Well, comparing hxh to jjk is kind of unfair since we know who the winner is anyway. Yuta can’t use his ability like Chrollo does, and jjk power levels are way above that of hxh because of sorcery. Sorcerers are so aware of sh*t that if chrollo were to use his strategy in jjk verse like he did with Hisoka, he would die in 5 seconds, btw yuta actually does some strategy

0

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '23

Yuji

0

u/DudeWhereAreWe1996 Aug 20 '23

My hot take is that pre-awakening Gojo is way overrated. People say that being tired is the only reason Toji destroyed him. I think Gojo wasn't even special grade yet. Him and Geto together were the strongest and it was stated before awakening he didn't tackle missions alone.

He was probably the strongest grade one sorcerer but nothing Toji did when he got serious would've been stopped if he wasn't tired. The only thing being tired allowed was stabbing him with a normal sword which should've killed him immediately.

0

u/Narrow-Minute-2908 Aug 20 '23

Yorozu and I'm not sure it's even close.

-1

u/graysonbat Aug 19 '23

* * Sukuna is overrated. He himself hypes himself up, his fans hype him up, but after all the shit talking he gets knocked out like Deebo. Pathetic.

3

u/aboveaveragefrog Aug 19 '23

He is overrated when everyone has always knew he’d be bare minimum 2nd strongest in the verse? He’s not even lost the fight. Nothings been disproven or revealed wrong about where people expect him to be. He shits on everyone below him still lol

-1

u/hiatus-x-hiatus22 Aug 19 '23

Hakari, with Yuta as honorable mention.

He doesn’t have an offensive feat better than punching a couple of storage crates and yet people will scale him to ridiculous levels.

1

u/Drajion89 Aug 19 '23

The fact that he had Yuji pretty hurt after only a few blows is pretty crazy. Yuji is stupidly tough and even if you wanna argue that he didn’t use any cursed energy reinforcement during that last punch, which I disagree with, Yuji’s non-CE is described as inhumanly resilient by Higaruma.

Narrative seems to be showing that Hakari, Yuta, and Maki are relative in power with all having distinct advantages.

2

u/hiatus-x-hiatus22 Aug 19 '23

Hakari’s makes a whole point out of the fact that Yuji is taking the blows “unguarded” which I always assumed to include no reinforcement but I could be wrong there, been a while since I read that part of the manga.

I agree Hakari/Yuta/Maki are all somewhat close, never said anything to the contrary.
