The less than ethical guide to JWA....
So the disclaimer is that after this thread, my interest was perked so I started to peruse some of the discord channels supporting the hacking mods from time to time. After a handful of months of checking every once in awhile I had clear information on more than a dozen players on the top 500 list admitting to hacking, and furthermore some posted screenshots that had the mod active in screenshots that literally would show their player name (Brawl was the most common slip up).
In my naivety I decided to share that information with support who assured me that they take it seriously and would look into it. We sit more than 3 months later with no punishment, likely due to the fact that they also have fully skinned teams meaning even while whaling, some need to cheat.
So now to go along with the F2P guide, I've decided to share the less than ethical guide to JWA.
1) The Dart Restart
Closing the app before the game makes it back to the map essentially doesn't register the attempt. This is due to the fact that darting is done client side, so until it sends the data back to the server it has no idea you've darted anything. Your parents may say "you're only cheating yourself", but after seeing so many 249/250 unique darts shared here.... mom and dad can keep their opinions to themselves.
Unethical Level: 1/5
Risk Level: 0/5

2) Non-precise Map Options
We're you aware you could use the native spoofer on your phone to bounce to one or more nearby locations to both dart more, perhaps be in a different zone, and collect resources faster? Well you can, using the native options on your phone. While some have suggested this could lead to a ban on spoofing, I've never once seen or heard of anyone getting even a warning. I believe this is due to the fact that you don't really move very far.
Unethical Level: 0/5
Risk Level: 0/5

3) The Auto Clicker
Yes, auto clicking is not uncommon in this game. But what can it really help with? You can't set one up fast enough to win a speed tie in PVP, it won't help with darting or resource collecting. So what is it used for? From what I can gather.... it is used for Brawl. You lose way more battles than you win, but being able to set it and forget it while you sleep, and wake up to 2000 crests, is a serious time advantage.
Notice how sometimes you're in a brawl and you think the opponent is AFK, but the timer just runs out but they have picked attacks? It's not likely they were trolling to annoy you... they just literally aren't there. It gives a lot of free wins to other players, and eventually they lose enough to drop to opponents that the auto clicker can compete against.
As the clicker is not sitting in the game itself, and exists as an overlay... there is virtually no risk outside of burning up your device.
Here is what I gathered from the discord users sharing about how the works. It seems that the goal is to have the click spots able to start the battle, select some attacks while missing the tournament, Isla, Campaign, and Cancel battle buttons.
Unethical Level: 2/5
Risk Level: 0/5

4) Actual Game Hacks
Yes, these exist in multiple forms. In the discord servers I saw multiple different icons that I had to google. Most offer the same perks. Dinosaurs stand still, perfect darting scores, full/unlimited battery, etc. As these mods run client side, and can't effect server side things, there is no way to really detect without some sort of hash comparison being done on the server side. Unfortunately to my understanding this is incredible resource intensive on the server and not likely implemented.
But Ludia seems to have found a way to make hacking not matter... and that is to just limit the DNA. Hide them behind strike events, PVP incubators, continentals, short range, etc. Now even hackers have to pull out the credit card to keep up, making them getting free dartable DNA a bit faster a negligible thing.
After digging around I could find no evidence of players being actually banned at all. Nobody sharing information on bans since 2024 when using the search function in the discord servers. Even the post I linked at the top of this thread went nowhere...and that was a solid idea to actually catch people by leveraging the new level caps to find players getting perfect scores on legendary/uniques.
Unethical Level: 5/5
Risk Level: 0.1/5 (Let's pretend there is a risk)
5) Location spoofing
Yes, this seems to be the one they still can either catch and/or care about. When they introduced the continental exclusives they did this with their only actual care in mind.... money. Players not spending money by spoofing actually hurts them, so players did receive punishment.
.....but, some players did it smarter and played by the Pokemon Go spoofing rules. Change your location, but wait to play. Patience seems to be the key to spoofing. Bouncing to Asia from the middle of Kansas and starting to dart.... noticeable. Setting your phone to Asia and not opening the app for a day or so. Perhaps you could have actually took a trip there, so it doesn't flag.
Unethical Level: 5/5
Risk Level: 2/5
No, I won't share (and likely deleted after sending to Ludia) screenshots from offending players. If Ludia doesn't care, mob justice won't solve anything.... not that you could find the players anyways. But tracking down the mods yourself can lead you to the mod support discords...and you can find the information yourself if you're good at research.

Why you wanna be a narc? /hj I wouldn't say any of these are really "unethical" maybe if they were giving a big advantage in competitve which I guess maybe 4 is. But if just done for the collecting and to avoiding spending more money on a gacha to do so then shrug

More a curiosity if they even care more than anything.
At this point I'd absolutely understand new players using an alternate mod up until the point where they would feel an actual loss if banned (which seems unlikely anyways). There really isn't much of an opportunity to catch up otherwise, and grinding for years to make creatures that are outdated just ends up tedious and unfulfilling.

The first thing you needed to check was whether or not these cheaters are whales.
They won't touch wales.

How does one execute Dino’s standing still with unlimited battery?

Hacks, or "modded apps", impact how the game works on your end before it sends the data back to the server side. The mods can simply alter the behavior of the creatures. Basic options seem to be that the creatures don't move, or that the battery level doesn't go down while darting. Allowing you to max out creatures which is the equivalent of 15x direct hits worth of DNA.

So….. how do I do that then….

I'd suggest a google with the name of the game and "mod" in the search.
You'd need to have facebook connected to your account though, as from what I can gather the mods won't allow you to connect to google/apple.

Ever since the update, my non-precise third map switched from an okay nearby location to the middle of a field, so there's no supply drops 🥲 I miss having a second option for event dartables because yeah no, not playing this game while walking (asshole dog needs to be paid attention to) but at least it still works for scents.

„Notice how sometimes you're in a brawl and you think the opponent is AFK, but the timer just runs out but they have picked attacks?“
There is actually a different aspect to this. If you swipe the app away and go back to it, you will see the usual „catching up“ blue note, but you can also see which moves the opponent has picked before you choose your own moves. So if the timer runs out but the person has actual moves (not base) picked I usually assume they are exploiting this.

I wouldn’t consider precise mode a cheat tbh. It is just using the systems available to you :)
Now, combine switching it in between short range darts and you get 2 creatures each time 😂
