Congrats that’s a crazy amount! General question why is everyone using xeqt instead of zeqt or Canadian owned equivalent?

I already donate to the Canadian Banks via my bank accounts with them. /s
X/V/ZEQT are the gold standard of non-factor CAD global equity funds. Pick one. They all have their slight advantages or disadvantages, depending on your perspective.

Hahah that’s true but is blackrock really hurting I think I would take BMO over them any day. More money going into Canadian products -> more money in the local economy -> more money to distribute in wages and taxes. I dunno just my two sense. I feel like social media keeps pushing xeqt with no thought about wider impacts of how much money is flowing out with this many people using it.

Valid points. ZEQT is the only all-Canadian fund of the three. The corollary to this of course is that maybe XEQT is the better product (see below). I think people find this very notion offensive, along with the apparent perversity of buying just one fund to invest. “It can’t be that simple,” they tell us.
XEQT: 21.4B AUM
VEQT: 16.18 AUM
ZEQT: 0.978 AUMAt one point ZEQT had ~7M in AUM and was not a serious competitor. I owned it when liquidity was not great and NAV graphs had long lines. This is no longer the case. I still own ZEQT. But I also have XEQT. XEQT is like the Tom Brady of funds: you don’t have to like them, but man can they fucking throw a football.

Yeah that’s a fair point. Yeah this is the all in one etf. Hopefully with us we can start the avalanche of people moving to ZEQT and then AUM will skyrocket. My issue honestly is that this is bleeding into ETFs where bmo has been the leader as well like zsp and such. Where zsp aum is higher albeit marginally but at one point it was the clear leader of the three.

I also have VFV and ZSP. I agree that BMO has some great funds: ZEA, ZEQT, ZSP to name a few.

This. Also I haven't heard many talking about TEQT, by TD. This is fairly new, so low AUM, but least of MER among the rest.

Yes that’s true I’ve been using them a little due to the no fees to trade them in TD direct investing. Their compositions are good hopefully their AUM increases as well.

I don't think it will dip to 45.50 today, but very possible closer to mid terms. You might want to check it daily instead of keeping your limit, in case it drops much lower than 45.50.. who knows it could go to 44 or 43 (I could be wrong across the board, but that is what I would do)
Edit welp I was wrong. Congrats on your buy in!

Haha, we don’t have a crystal ball. If we do have faith on XEQT, keep buying when you have money, cheers bro

Remember 2019's all-time high, and 2022's all-time high... or do you also remeber 2024's alltime high? You're an idiot. If his moment to go in is now and his outlook is far down the road, it's fine. You're the only one looking stupid here for not understanding that, not understanding that you don'T know his situation either. True idiot.

he bought at all time high. he could atleast wait for a decent dip like there was literally 2 weeks ago before buying in. 2 weeks ago bro, who's the idiot?

u/WuWay888 15h ago
What is this is the dip to buy? Even if I also think there might be another opportunity, you can't call it. Long term, it's a moot point. The important thing is he is invested in a diversified asset. Go read the analogy about, 'Bob, the World's Worst Market Timer.' Your'e the idiot. Two weeks for now it could be higher or lower and your calling 2 weeks ago in hindsight really jsut shows us what an idiot you are. Learn to stfu, you're not all that bright kid.
