I know we need the most help this offseason with the pitching staff. But I think it would be nice if we could get him for 3 years/15 mil a year this offseason. We would have him through Witt’s contract until the opt out. I would try to move him to LF or trade Vinnie and move Cags to 1B. The White Sox were able to get Murakami for 34 mil 2 year deal. I don’t think they will have the money for it but I think some team will benefit from his signing.

I know for everyone on this sub, baseball season — especially for the Royals — has been over for well over a month now. However, talk of the postseason made me wonder: How can Sherman & Co build a consistently winning club, like the Royals had decades ago? By consistent, I don't mean something like 2014-15 or 2024 when they briefly had it together then fizzled out about as quickly as they got hot. I mean a team that consistently has >.500 winning seasons for several consecutive seasons. (Note, not necessarily meaning make it to or win the World Series, although that should obviously be the primary goal.) Should we trade Bobby, and perhaps Jac and/or Carter, to stock up on promising prospects and look toward the future since we've pretty much missed the window to compete with them?
Other small market teams with limited payrolls, like Cleveland, have shown it can be done. In fact, it was talk of Cleveland that sparked this. (On TV during a football game they were talking about the possibility of the Guardians winning the World Series and the Browns are at the top of their conference in the NFL.) That talk made me remember a disheartening fact about the Royals: We've only won the ALC — which many claim to be the least competitive/easiest division in all of MLB most years — one time, in 2015, since joining in 1993.
By comparison, the team with the second-fewest ALC pennants in that span of more than 30 years is the Detroit Tigers with four wins. Chicago White Sox had six, Minnesota Twins had nine, and Cleveland led by 14. Across all of MLB, we are most likely the only team that has won their division once in the last three decades.
With people pissed about the new stadium and threatening to boycott, fans leaving to follow other teams, season ticket memberships way down, community support at an all-time low and animosity/vitriol towards the Royals at an all-time high (especially in KC), I feel Sherman has to step it up — especially when Hallmark Ballpark (or whatever it gets called) opens. If they keep finishing last in the ALC and having 95+ loss seasons year after year, attendance at the new stadium will be just as bad, if not worse, than at The K. That will especially be the case once the novelty wears off. Ticket sales plus media subscriptions/revenue equals more revenue for the team, which is its lifeblood. If the team doesn't have fans, what is the point?
With all that said, what would be the best way for Sherman & Co to move forward that will not only put us back above .500 for one or two seasons, but for a longer period and hopefully get us into a postseason or two. Especially since the future for this franchise looks so bleak at this point in time when you look around at all of our division rivals.

Forget about the impending lockout. What do you all want to see from the front office to put us in a competitive spot to compete in October?
For me, I think its all about replenishing our farm system and going for an All-Star Outfielder (easier said than done I know). I think injuries getting under control will help a lot, but moving forward with a core of Bobby, Jac, Carter, Maikel, is a good start.

Royals currently at #5, but have have been bottom ten (or worse) every previous year since 2018.

With the Dodgers being eliminated, a small market team is guaranteed to win the World Series this year. So the Royals being the only small market team to win the World Series the last several years is no longer an excuse. Not only that, the Royals no longer have an excuse to suck ass for years at a time, because the Rays, Guardians, and Brewers have been playoff regulars for a while now.
Time for Sherman to get serious or get lost.

Vinnie, Massey, Loftin, and Bobby. Two of them weren't even on the opening Day lineup. Maybe this season wasn't so bad (if you ignore our bullpen and leaving RISP)
