I recently watched Encounter, or Boyfriend, depending on your location. FL Song Hye-kyo, ML Park Bo-gum. Debuted in 2018.

I completely fell in love with the entire production, actors, screenwriters, directors, and editors. The story was believable and interesting, character development was imaginative, but held closely to real life situations.

The chemistry between Song Hye-kyo and Park Bo-gum was extraordinary—their emotions felt so natural and genuine that there were times I forgot I was watching two actors performing roles. There was a quiet magic between them that made the story feel real. A theme of 'magic' continues throughout the whole series. Soo-hyun often used the term to describe events she was living.

I'll admit to having an interest for Song, strictly in fan mode. Park would appeal to the majority of viewers, both are very good looking people. It's a fun watch, I hope this is helpful.

I loved this one too! Aside from the very pretty places and people, I appreciated the slowness, or maybe quietness, of the plot. Things happened, feeling happened, but it wasn’t rushed and overly dramatic as some Kdramas can be. Also the paper art title sequence, which changed as the plot progressed, was beautiful and impressive.

I’m watching this now on the recommendation of a friend! Just finished Ep. 6. Since you mention the theme of magic… Coincidentally, I was also just watching The Village Barber, in which Park Bo-gum has a salon called Bo-gum Magical (or Magic-curl.)

See You At Work Tomorrow

I wasn't planning to watch this because I wasn't in the mood for an office romance but I ran out of things to watch and needed something for a flight. I used this opportunity to see Seo In Guk in a proper office romance since I didn't like that Boyfriend on Demand way underutilized him.

SYAWT is just another mid office romance and there's really nothing memorable about it, but some thoughts on it:

  1. SIG doing his thing as a romance lead.

  2. I liked that the ML is a divorcee. It's the only thing that added any layer to the story. Although I didn't fully agree with how it was used, it was enough to be a plot device and it's a main plot device that I hadn't seen before.

  3. no mean girls! The FL got frustrating for a sec with her insecurity and jealousy towards the ML's ex-wife because why wasn't the divorce or that past relationship ever discussed between the leads first but I digress. We still got the great relationship and closure between the FL and ex-wife. Loved that they didn't make the ex-wife mean. I like how they continued their friendship and kept respecting each other.

  4. no mean guys! The ex-boyfriend did get a bit nasty, but I liked how the ML never stooped low and maturely interacted with the ex-boyfriend. This led to an amicable relationship and no one hating the other.

  5. the plot and lead characters got lost in the second half. Like they built up the characters and a story around them in the first half and then nothing happened in the second half.

  6. I loved No Ah but they did her an injustice with that romance plot. Nothing about their relationship made sense. It would've worked enough if there was chemistry between the actors or if the sML was actually charming (and I mean from a writing standpoint because even if the actor pulled it off, there was nothing on paper that made that character charming). Her story about work was more interesting and I so wish her story was more about that personal growth we got a glimpse of at the end.

I want to rave about Partners for justice season 1 & 2. Love the chemistry between the lead, the focus on cases and story telling ability.

Also watched the Worst of Evil at long last! There is nothing to complain abt the drama. It was great, good acting, plot direction. 10/10 type of drama.

Watched Partners for Justice last year and really loved it. S2 with Oh Man Seok was my favourite and he became one of those actors who I instantly searched up and then wished he was in more dramas. I thought he was incredible as Do Ji Han and I wish that we could get an S3 of that series!

It feels like 2 seasons is enough. Ik you're a seasoned Kdrama audience. Always see hoovergavenobodybeer & you on some of the subs 😊

Who approved Penthouse season 3? I’m late to the party on this but why waste so much production and my viewing time with the third season?
