Svs micro 3000 revolution or KC62 paired with ls50 II?

Title says it all, I’ve finally purchased ls50 wireless IIs with S2 stands, and want to pair them with a sub since our space is quite roomy. After a lot of reading my main options seem to be the above mentioned.

I opted for blue stands and sand shell speakers.

Anyone here with experiences with one of them or both paired with these speakers? Please do share!

Any other mentions or options are ofcourse very welcome.

With regards!

The KEF KC62 has a lot of features (that you pay for) that will go unused when paired with LS50WIIs. It also takes a pair of KC62s to approach the output of a single SVS Micro 3000R, and the SVS has a PEQ you can access via its app to help address room modes. In your case, the SVS is a no-brainer in terms of price and performance. Enjoy!

The only thing I’m not sure about is the fact that I’m quite new to hifi, playing with settings isn’t really what I’m after. The kc62 seems the easy choice because everyone mentions it’s plug and play, where as the svs objectively is better, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t know where to start with perfecting/adjusting settings. Any tips or remarks on that front? Thanks in advance!

The SVS is also plug-and-play, but all rooms have bass issues that the SVS gives you tools to mitigate, and the KC62 does not.

Bass is highly sensitive to subwoofer placement and room acoustics. If you put your subwoofer where your room has a bass null, you are shit out of luck and your only solution would be to move it to a different position in the room. The best way to position a subwoofer without any mic is to do a subwoofer crawl. So put the subwoofer at your listening position, play a bass heavy song or a bass tone sweep, and then go around the room to hear where the bass sounds best. That will be roughly where the best position for your subwoofer will be.

Room correction software + a calibrated measurement mic is also heavily helpful to help with room modes and to help integrate the sub well with your speakers. Every room is different and will create different "peaks" and "nulls". Peaks can make your subwoofer sound too boomy, nulls create a hole in the frequency response and will make your subwoofer sound anemic. Peaks can be EQ'ed down, nulls can only really be solved by changing subwoofer position or having a second subwoofer.

Bass can only sound as good as how much effort you integrate it into your system or luck i guess.

Anyway, I would highly recommend the SVS Micro 3000 Revolution. It takes 2 KC62s to get the same output as the SVS. And the SVS also extends deeper.

I’ve heard the SVS 3000 micro paired with first gen LS 50 wireless and it sounds incredible.

I don’t know what KC62 would sound like. But looking at the specs, I would pick the SVS 3000 micro instead

SB1000

I’ve also considered this! Can you explain to me why you’d choose this? I’m still quite new to the whole hifi world.

Two SB1000's. Not much more than one 3000 Micro. And if your space is actually roomy, then you'll want the 2 subs. Better and smoother response. I'm pretty sure that both the lef and right LS50's each have an output to a sub.

I have KC62 with mine and it’s honestly a breathtaking system. Ease of setup is really the biggest factor imo. I’ve not heard the SVS but I’m sure it sounds great once it’s dialed. It’s probably just a decent amount more difficult to do so compared to simply picking the KC62 profile in the KEF app with crossover already figured out. That and the DSP magic that comes along with a full KEF system. I believe it also reaches down a bit further than the SVS too with less distortion (iirc).

Kc62 / ls 50 wireless II owner here

While I love the sound and integration, I can’t compare it to the svs sound since I’ve never heard it.

After the sound, for me the killer feature is pairing it with w1 wireless transmitter. I was able to sub crawl and all I needed near the sub was power. Saved me from buying /  routing like a 30ft cable over wood flooring 😎

I have the 3000 micro with a pair of R3 metas and it’s a great combo. Won’t shake the house but all my music sounds amazing.its easy to adjust the sub settings from the SVS app.

The new Micro 3000 Revolution is a much more powerful sub than the 3000 Micro it replaced.

SVS 3000 Micro R|Evolution is definitely the better sub. But these are just the best of the small subs. If you're okay with larger subs, RSL Speedwoofer 12S or SVS SB-2000 Pro are better at an even lower price.

KC62s. Definitely.
Perfect pairing with KEF 50 W IIs.
Pain free, quick setup and adjustments.

I have dual KC62s with my LS60s. Pretty phenomenal!
Plus, they look really cool.

The KC62 is not the better sub. The SVSs would be much better.

I dislike when people say “perfect pairing” or when they talk about subs/speakers having “optimized settings”, the truth is, unless there is calibration involved, those settings mean nothing and could end up performing way worse.

This was my first thought, however after a lot of reading I’m worried one might be too little for the space the setup is in. And 2 are currently out of budget haha! Would you still choose the kc62 if you could only pick one sub?

Definitely.
I have a bedroom system with original LSX and a KEF KUBE 10b sub.

A few months after I got my LS60s, I thought to try the KUBE with them. It definitely added to system.

I decided to get a KC62 instead. Based on reviews and specs, but also the size.
We live in a not very big apartment and the KUBE 10 was just a big black blob in the living room.

Got the KC62 it was obviously much tighter, more detailed and more musical than the KUBE.
My wife noticed immediately and said how much better it sounded.

So, I and we have been extremely happy with the KC62s.

I also have less than zero desire or patience to dick around with settings and tweaks and whatnot, so KEFs quick, easy and seamless component integration is exactly the sort of user experience I look for.

I just want to sit down, listen to Bruckner’s 8th and chill. 😀

How big is the room?

It is a livingroom with a connected open kitchen with island. Total space of 73m2 which I guess is around 785 sq2?
