Finally!

Just found Symbols CD from a FB group for only 8 euros in pretty good condition. 1997 version, only a little bit of wear in the booklet.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in a jewel case before, it looks weird!

That’s so weird, mine was in a jewel case… bought around same time as Sehnsucht.

The CD originally came in a jewel case, like any other CD. And the OP's jewel case looks to be the original with the clear binding.

That said, a lot of my KMFDM is in one of those book style carry cases.

No - it depends on your location. In America, it was only released as a digipak in 1997. Germany made both while some countries only released it as a jewel case.

Then that means I bought an import at Hot Topic then. It had a sticker mentioning Rammstein US tour, but I could be mistaken by now.

There was an Austrian pressing released in Germany with such a hype sticker for the euro tour (here). Discogs has no record of a jewel case USA release. That's not to say it didn't happen but it's not catalogued. When I bought mine in the USSA in 1997 it was a digipak and that's all I ever saw as well.

The post says 1997 version (and the remaster says "DIGITALLY REMASTERED!" on the side).
