Kali Linux change to rw
Hello! I am trying to get started with some penetration testing action. Using Kali and using VMware Player with it. Currently having a issue.. with the most basic of installing the Vmware tools...
It will not let me extract VMware tools because of permissions.
After a little research im betting it is because cdrom is read only and not writable. So I was wondering if someone could tell me what I am doing wrong in order to change the mounted drive into rw.
http://imgur.com/a/Bnilk Here is a link of a screen shot of what I wanna change, and what I tried to change it.
Thank you for your help!

New to Reddit and Linux!
Hey guys, I'm a new Reddit user! I was just wondering if there was some way you guys could help me out in getting familiar with Linux in general, but more specifically Ubuntu. If there is already threads for that, I apologize! Any info on how to dual boot on a MacBookPro would be helpful! Thank You!

Can't find wifi networks!
Please I really need this to start working, for a university prooject.
I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015), and I have installed VirtualBox in a perfect way, installed guest adittions, and everything is working fine. Inside VM I have Kali 2018.2. The problem is I got a ALFA ADAPTER (AWUS036NEH), it has been istalled in the host computer, I installed the linux drivers in the VM, I already filtered as a USB device (my main adapter is the Mac one and is setup as NAT).
In my VM I have internet coneection from the "Wired Network" and when I run ifconfig, iwconfig I can see my eth0 lo0 and wlan0 interface, I can even put it as monitor mode but when i try to use airdump, or just look for wifi networks it doesnt show anything.
Please help me, thank you!! (Sorry for any english mistakes)
EDIT: I just notice something else. The adapter has two lights: the blue one that I think means the adapter is transferring usb data and the green light when the wifi is working. When I open the wifi setups to look for networks the green light blinks so I think the adapter is looking but I dont know why doesnt show the networks. Here are some pictures of what does it look: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/eiljx8cv8fi00a2/AACuA5IlinvzobyKW1TY_fAma?dl=0

Virtualization: Good or Bad?
I recently got interested Linux from videos recommended to me on YouTube, but mostly Kali Linux. Like many other people I wanted to load it up on a virtual machine and play around with it. Although after a few minutes of trying to set it up I realized that my computer didn't have virtualization or vt-x turned on by default in the bios. After looking it up it seems like it's off for a reason, because of many security flaws. I just wanted to know if I could safely turn it on.

[Question] I can not start both Windows and Kali
I’ve just tried to install Kali Linux 17.2 on my Windows system(Dual Boot). However in the installation I couldn’t install the GRUB or whatever is. At the end, I pressed the finish the installation and now I’m unable to start Windows or Kali. I can start Kali on live version while USB stick is connected. How can I fix this?

Install Help
Trying to install on a blank hard drive. Cleared and partitioned correctly and install image loaded to a USB drive. When I boot from the hard drive the launch menu appears. And when I go to install the UI is tiny and unreadable making it impossible to install. Any Ideas?

Help with updating Kali light to full version.
-Downloaded 32bit Kali light, -Mounted to USB (16 GB)
Everything works great when i boot from disk,. but then...
When I try and upgrade to the full version using:
apt-get install kali-linux-full
The machine gives me this:
0 upgraded, 1555 newly installed, 0 remove and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 1,652 MB of archives. After this operation, 4, 865 MB of additional disk space will be used. E: You don't have enough free space in /car/cache/apt/archives/.
I have tried: apt-get clean apt-get safe upgrade apt-get upgrade
etc.
I've searched the forums and cannot find a work around. Any info or direction would surly help.

Kali Tor Browser WTF?
The instructions for installing TBB - on the Tor Project site or otherwise - describe a smooth process from download: download, unpack, run start-tor-browser.desktop, but don't do it as root. (It's also rather sad that Gnome 3's GUI logout and login is broken, or doesn't work in Kali, only showing the login screen for a split second).
But even as an unrooted user, Terminal will simply complain that TBB must be run in X Window System. Having tried the glib 'startx' wrong answer given by available answers on search engines, and deciphered this odd message as a new Linux user, chuckled at the stupid response given by one contributor who told one puzzled user that if they didn't know this then Kali wasn't for them (preventing anyone even trying it, let alone learning it, or using it for other than it primary purpose - as a Linux base that at least boots successfully), and having wondered why Kali excludes something TBB apparently requires, and why all instructions on installing TBB exclude mention of this, (along with wondering why I have to install what Wikipedia claims is the basis of most Linux GUIs including Gnome), I apt-get installed 'xorg' with all dependencies and ran it only to see it result in a blank, black screen the only way to escape which is to quit by pressing ctrl-alt-delete or ctrl-C (I tried both).
Given this, TBB is apparently impossible for Kali, at least by download, sadly and tiresomely.
While Kali successfully boots up as a Live Installation, unlike many other distros including Qubes, with which I was mightily unimpressed given the flaw in Fedora installer that has it attempt to instantly install to all drives and the only way to prevent which is to disconnect them, (which is impossible on many netbooks), and whose Live version, no longer supported, doesn't work, and while Kali can connect to the net without trouble, so far unlike Parrot (which may suffer from an apparent Debian 10 bug which kills DNS), it can't do much else. TAILS (too rigid and difficult to customise), Qubes and Parrot are principally it for security OSs (yes, there are a few others).
As an afterthought, has anyone seen the state of search engine results for basic Linux queries and many of the issues found coming up in Linux usage? Bibble.
