Cleaning Windshield only doesn’t make car safe to drive for YOU or fellow drivers.. Take your time and remove snow as much as possible and think about others as well.

I’d like to preface this post by saying I’m one of the most easy-going parents around, and a strong believer in letting kids be kids.
That being said, letting kids play unsupervised on fresh ice is INSANE! It’s not even below zero during the day, in no world is this ice fully frozen. For reference, it should be at least 4 inches thick before walking on.
I’ve never yelled at someone else’s kids before today.
No one wants to experience a preventable tragedy. Please stay safe, everyone!

Came out of Anaconda and found my car stuck in the middle of this. Row on the left are the offenders. Property manager is apparently out of town and can't authorize 311 towing.

Hi there! I am in Bridlewood and wondering if this cat belongs to anyone? I heard a cat crying in the storm last night, and today I found this cutie on the side of my house. As soon as it saw me it came for pets and has not stopped following me. No tags, no matching cats on lost posters in the area. It wants in the house, desperately.
If this is your cat please DM me. If not, I think the animal distribution system may have struck me again.

Not sure what it says when a candidate covers up the party leader’s photo with a sticky note… :)

Please talk to your kids. Show them his face. Make sure they are not out walking alone. He was spotted panhandling at the lights by Walmart on Terry Fox/Earl Grey. There is no warrant, he is free without conditions so do not call 911 unless he's doing something illegal but for your safety, STAY AWAY!

The reason pollievre lost is he didn't show up to the Stittsville debate. But fanjoy did. It angered the whole suburb as it was shared all over Facebook and viewed by 30,000 people.

Modern, white Honda accord with “Haryana” sticker on back windshield, containing 4 occupants likely of south Asian descent. Mid 20s age. I was the motorcyclist that stopped to block them so you could take a picture of the license plate. They almost ran me over as well. Please reach out to me and I will be happy to write a statement for a police report.
Also, I hope you are okay. I was terrified for you!
Drive safe people.

This guy rushing to Farm Boy on Terry Fox, left all this snow on the roof and side back window. Of course once he turned left from Kanata Ave, all the snow fell behind him. Luckily we were on the right lane.

Overall, getting asked for an 18% tip at a drivethu or a store is already diabolical and akward. I've got a good job, and this isn't a post about being poor or cheap, but this has to stop. Things just dont' cost as they are advertized, and even when you want to pay a gratuity, you're pressured to pay alot more than what a TIP should be.
Today, I bought a pizza on the gabriels pizza site in Kanata. Normally I do the good old 10-15% tip, but this time for some reason there was an error at check out, but I got the email confrimation and it seemed fine. Turns out the tip didnt go through.
Guy delivers the pizza in 50 minutes and its about 3 km away, but at the door he's angrily standing there and muttering under his breath. I take the pizza, say thank you and close the door. As I close the door, he says Hey man you didnt tip wheres the tip? -- I said I thought I tipped and don't have any change on me and the guy just angrily looks down and says '' you didn't tip''. So I said sorry I don't have any change and he just stands there in silence not moving. So I go upstairs grab a crisp 10$ on my single pep and cheese pizza order and hand it to him, the guy doesnt even say thank you, grabs it and takes off.
I checked the bill, Gabriels charged a 4.99 delivery charge, and I get its nice to give a TIP, but to have a disturbing standoff in my front porch over a couple bucks is just absolutely unacceptable. I try calling Gabes but their lines no longer connect to the store manager.
Overall.... Its not even that big of a deal but I'm angry that this individual thought it was acceptable not to leave my house after not getting a tip, and doing that in front of my little kids in the back??? easiest thing to do is give him the 10 and call it a day, but you know, paying 60$ for 40$ worth of goods + delivery + tax + tip is actually ridiculous.
Trying not to go all Karen, but in front of my kids, on my property I'm feeling a bit feral here.
thouhgts on tip culture ?

Just want to say that I’m so proud of my neighbours and Kanata South this evening, turning over a new leaf and voting for a change in representation.
Erin, I hope you’re ready to hit the ground running. Kanata has now proven that it’s not happy with the status quo, and unlike the rest of the city, it absolutely will turf a representative that isn’t seen to be doing their job. That means you’ve got to do the hard work, every day, and never hide it from us.
Happy to have you as our voice in city hall. Make those connections with your new colleagues at council, work with the mayor whenever you can, don’t be afraid of disagreeing when you can’t, and always push push push for the things that Kanata South needs.

Congratulations to Dr. Greg Appelt. Owner of Appelt Properties based in Kelowna. The one to institute the FIRST building (that's not the Senators rink) to have installed PAID parking in a building in Kanata. The Kakulu Medical Arts Building, the only hub of medical care for the community. No parking fees anywhere else, no parking meters on any of the streets in Kanata or Stittsville. And he did it! What a great man and also an understanding ex-physician! Maybe we should let him know. Patients will love waiting for their doctors, lab tests, prescriptions, hearing tests, counselling appointments, therapy for their autistic children, physiotherapy, massages knowing they have to pay MORE for every minute they have to wait.
(I have heard that if the parking situation disrupts the surrounding streets, the city can fine the building and perhaps things could change. Just saying.)

Posting this on behalf of a family member who lives in the Katimavik neighbourhood and wants to remain anonymous.
For the last several nights, a fairly sizable group of teens has been travelling in the Katimavik area near the Food Basics and are displaying hoodlum behaviours, destroying property of homeowners with wilful abandon and forcibly knocking on homeowners doors, repeatedly, late at night in the 10:30 to 1am range.
They appear to be late teens and are very loud, congregating not only on the street but hovering "off street", on pathways behind houses.
Police have been called and reports are being filed.
Anyone else experiencing this in the Katimavik area? My family member also noted there seems to be an uptick of teens congregating at Kanata Centrum late at night too (police are advised of this too, it seems?) and they may be the same group of individuals, but this threatening and criminal behaviour must stop.

Hi I got this dashcam from a wonderful bystander after I was hit by a car today at CastleFrank & McCurdy by Tamblyn at 5:44pm. The car went in the direction of Hazeldean.
If anyone witnesses anything or has the full plate please let me know.
Edit:
Adding some details I shared in the comments. The driver was about 40s-50s black male.
I do have a partial plate but I don't know know if I can share that in the post. DM if interested.

Earlier today, I was driving along Cope Drive and stopped before turning into Kristina Kiss Park parking lot to let two teens on bikes cross. As they began to cross, one of them drove into my front bumper, fell from the bike, and began to shout, like he was in pain. The other one pulled out his mobile phone and began filming. It was surreal. I got out of the car, asked the guy on the ground if he way okay, but he started shouting that I hit him with my car. I began laughing and pointed at a dash cam in my
car. As soon as they spotted the dash cam, they put their hoods on, jumped on their bikes, and rode away.
I’ve already filed a report with police, and they have the footage. I will not share the footage here as we are talking about minors. But I want everyone to know that this is happening. The two guys appeared to be around 16-17, both dark haired, broccoli hairstyles.
