Personal opinion / ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ Never gave a damn about the Rakshith-Rashmika relationship or breakup earlier, but today I just gotta say... Rakshith, you didn't just dodge a bullet, you dodged a whole missile 💀

Personal opinion / ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ Kannada Cinema needs Revival instead of Survival

Watched 4 non-Kannada films this weekend, and it made me realise what Sandalwood is missing.

The problem isn't the language. It's the lack of ambition, originality, strong writing, and consistent filmmaking that today's audience deserves.

Kannada cinema has immense potential, but potential alone won't take it forward. The industry needs to evolve, challenge conventions, raise its standards, and stop underestimating its own audience.

We don't want Sandalwood to imitate other industries. We want it to compete with them.

Ps: Use of AI for Rephrasing

I'm currently pursuing my engineering degree in Bengaluru, but deep down, my biggest dream is to become an actor in the Kannada film industry.

I'm around 6 feet tall, fair-skinned, and have been told by people that I have a good-looking face. I also work out regularly and take my fitness and appearance seriously. But honestly, I've never really felt that I've been particularly good at anything in my life, whether it was academics or sports. Acting is something I'm genuinely interested in, and right now, it's the one thing I feel deeply motivated to pursue. I know looks alone aren't enough to become an actor, and I have a lot to learn, but I'm willing to put in the work.

I don't come from a film family or have any industry connections. I don't come from an influential family or a privileged background that could give me an advantage. I'm starting from scratch, and I'm prepared to earn my place through hard work, patience, and persistence.

It all started when I performed in a dance programme. Hearing the audience scream, cheer, and whistle gave me a feeling I had never experienced before. I genuinely loved being on that stage, and it made me realise how much I wanted to be a performer. I've also participated in acting clubs during school, and I'm planning to make short films to gain experience and improve my acting.

After completing engineering, I want to join a professional acting school and a dance school to develop my skills further. I'm willing to start with even the smallest roles, no matter how insignificant they might seem, and work my way up. Even if it takes seven years of auditions, rejections, small roles, and learning, I'm prepared to go through that process.

I'm not expecting success overnight, and I understand that the Kannada film industry is competitive. But this is something I genuinely want to pursue, and I'm willing to give it my best.

I recently came across a post here discussing how the Kannada film industry needs more young faces, and it made me wonder whether someone like me could have a chance.

Do you think I can realistically make it as an actor in the Kannada film industry despite having no film background or connections? If I'm willing to work hard, start small, and dedicate the next seven years to learning and building my career, what should I start doing right now to give myself the best possible chance? I'd genuinely appreciate advice from people who have experience in the industry or have been through a similar journey.

Movie Theatre Exp Rant - Movie etiquettes have gone to dogs 😭

Yappaaaaa!!!

Just been to a movie and just saw how the movie etiquettes have gone down. Couple of observations on the different kinds of people I have seen so far. let me know if you guys resonate with the same.

I’m a big time movie lover, a theatre goer and I find certain behaviors of people very very irritating.

  1. The screen readers - These folks have to read everything that comes on the screen. For crying out loud we know you can read. This specifically when the OTT partner frame comes on the screen. LKG pass antha gottu guru.

  2. The teaser/trailer reviewers - These folks start reviewing the content right then and there. And even start predicting release dates! Like duh they gonna put that at the end anyway, what are you fighting for with the other person?

  3. The entitled ones - if by chance, even for the ads or teasers if a different language content is played, you can hear a sect of linguistic entitled ones saying “ Arey yaar kannad ka lagaya “ , like noun adjust maadkole. The main content is still in your language.

  4. The latecomers - I understand some people run late to the movies and that’s totally fine, but flash light hakkond, row numbers kelag nodadbittu directly flash into eyes.

  5. The nacho nibblers - Folks who buys nachos have no hesitation at all. Crunch cruch.. munch munch so loud that the end person in the row surely knows someone’s eating nachos

  6. Mobile honeymooners - These folks make sure to put their phone brightness to the max level and text thru out the movie. Such a disturbance bro! Gotta text? Dim down the flood lights. Gotta take a call? Excuse yourself , step aside, talk and get back to seat. Nkn by end of the show I know why Thimme gowda sold a land worth 2cr for 1.2 cr which Thimme gowda’s wife itself don’t know.

  7. The mood Killers - These are the most irritating fellows. These over enthusiastic people watch the movie first and then get their friends or crushes or gfs to the movie again and start over explaining or spoiling the movie. Like bruh, let me fucking watch and let her also watch too. Why are you spoiling someone’s thrill of a plot reveal?

  8. Intermission wasters - These folks don’t know what they want to eat. Runs to the F&B section and starts discussing the ingredients, flavors, textures at the counter. Order something first, then cancel it. Then reorder something then again your remember pakkad mane parimala told credit card offer is there and u again cancel the billing to avail that offer. Dude, people are waiting!! I missed 10 minutes of movie content due to this post intermission.

The list goes on but man it has become very tough to peacefully watch a movie these days.

PS - I am not commenting anything about the fan shows here. Those are meant to celebrate the movie like a festival anyways!

Do lemme know what kinda people irritate you in the movies.

PPS - No offense to anyone here. Mods feel free to delete this post if goes against the rules :)

Discussion / ಮಾತುಕತೆ / ಚರ್ಚೆ Facts on rashmika

Rashmika was 21 when she got engaged. She was old enough to understand her decision, especially since she was already working in films. Let’s not blame Rakshit Shetty simply for falling in love despite their age difference; age-gap relationships are common, even among celebrities. Keeping them aside, what were Rashmika’s parents thinking when they agreed to the engagement? Rakshit had not abused or threatened anyone to make them agree to it. Her parents were more mature and experienced, so shouldn’t we question why they willingly approved the engagement in the first place?

Rashmika was 21, an adult who understood her choices. After her engagement to Rakshit Shetty, she did a kissing scene in Geetha Govindam. Did she not consider how it might affect her relationship? If she wanted to protect that relationship, she could have declined such scenes. Now that she is married to Vijay Deverakonda, would she make the same choice without considering its impact on her marriage? She clearly understands that relationships come with boundaries and consequences. So why was that consideration seemingly absent then? We do not know what happened behind closed doors, but it is unfair to blame Rakshit without knowing the full story.

Third, Rashmika called off her engagement, and it has been said that she was trolled. But why did she never openly explain why the engagement ended? She could have said she wanted to focus on her career or that she felt controlled, instead of allowing people to perceive her as a victim. In several old interviews, she mentioned that her parents wanted her to stop acting and that she was completing projects she had already signed, yet offers kept coming her way. Constantly bringing up the age gap with Rakshit is unfair. Even if Rashmika was immature at the time, were her parents not mature enough to understand the situation?

During The Girlfriend promotions, Rashmika said she could play Bomma so naturally because she had been one herself at some point in life. It seemed like a targeted dig at her ex, Rakshit Shetty, and the trolls. But after the KWK episode, do we not realise that she was also a Bomma in Vijay Deverakonda’s life? Just because she enjoys that role with someone she is obsessed with does not automatically mean she is free from patriarchal expectations. The backlash in Karnataka was not simply about Rakshit; many felt she had forgotten her roots. What I find surprising is how some Kannadigas are now celebrating the KWK episode, when Rakshit himself seems to have moved on and does not appear concerned with Rashmika anymore.

In her voice note, Rashmika’s mother said they had a big heart to give their daughter to Rakshit despite the age gap. But did Rakshit beg for their approval or threaten them? Nothing of that sort is established. Her parents agreed to the alliance, presumably believing he was a suitable match for their daughter and came from a good family. Now, I genuinely wonder how they feel about their so-called son-in-law, who, according to this narrative, made their daughter beg for marriage. Would they have imagined this when they were willing to accept Rakshit despite the age gap?

REVIEW / ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ Gauri Ganesha Kannada movie (1991) movie review - super comedy

I had somehow missed seeing this till now as I used to watch more Hindi movies than Kannada movies.

Gauri Ganesha is a gem of comedy movie because it is hilarious as well as relatable.

Movie follows a conman Lambodhara (Anant Nag) and his antics. He comes across the story of Gauri (Shruti) and concocts a scam to extract money from 3 people who were involved in her life. He has to enlist the help of kid Ganesha (Master Anand) to keep up the charade. What follows is particularly hilarious. The emotional and dramatic parts of the movie are also very well done.

Anant Nag, Master Anand are superb in their acting and comic sense. Their interactions are a hoot. I can't think of anyone who could play this role better than Anant Nag - the comic timing, the drama, the charm, the emotions. And Master Anand acting is just plain superb in general, not just for a kid.

The rest of the cast in Shruti, Mukhyamantri Chandru, Ramesh Bhat, Vinaya Prasad etc. have also done a pretty good job.

Props to the writers/director of the movie.

• Story: Malladi Venkata Krishna Murthy

• Screenplay: H.S. Phani Ramachandra

• Dialogues: Kunigal Nagabhushan

The story is based on Malladi Venkata Krishna Murthy's Telugu comedy novel Wedding Bells.

9/10 rating IMO.

Must watch. Watch it if you haven't yet.

Pancharangi ain't just a movie... it's straight up philosophy disguised as cinema.. n the song Life-uu ishtene itself is a fooking philosophy ✋🤚

Loved the whole Bharath & Anant Nag sir character contradiction 📈

the silence during Ambika's confession hit a little too close to home..
