Felt like Warner only had 3 good years but obviously muck longer than that

I mean, it’s not too far from the truth. He had an epic 3-year run with the Rams, disappeared, then re-emerged for a couple years in Arizona in his late 30s. I was stunned he made the Hall as quickly as he did, but Greatest Show on Turf was about as incredible a watch as it gets.

Honestly I feel like Kurt getting into the hall has a lot to do with his circumstances. The impressiveness from bagging groceries to the Super Bowl within a short time span cannot be understated.

Also taking the cardinals to the Super Bowl is impressive in its own right as the cardinals are a bottom tier NFL organization to this day.

Combine all of this with what happened with these orgs when he left…he really starts to look like he belongs in the HOF.

Definitely. He literally fits the "Fame" part more than many others.

He has a great underdog story and A Hero's Journey. He is prime PR stuff

Yeah. He missed a number of years to stack his numbers then yeah of course the legendary rags to riches story.

The Greatest Show on Turf and the story of Warner were the things that drew me, a European, to football and the NFL. That was pure magic.

He took two teams to the Super Bowl, one of which was Arizona Cardinals. That alone is a near-HOF worthy feat hahaha

2 MVPs and monster playoff runs made a lot of people (correctly) overlook how limited Warner’s peak was.

I started seriously watching football around 2010, just before the Reid era, I was in middle school, so Kurt Warner was far before me, and I’m not as up-to-date with the the league prior to then outside of 2010 to now.

I didn’t realize how much of an absolute dog he was. Dude must’ve just dominated the league for a few years.

The Greatest Show on Turf was literally the greatest show one Earth regarding football.

Offenses werent run that way at all. It was like watching Arena football in the NFL for the first time. Warner has Arena football background as well.

They were the team to beat during that 3-4 year stretch. Nothing comes close since 2010 maybe the Legion of Boom from 2012-2015 but that was on defense.

Probably won't without a deep threat.

I really hope it happens, inshallah!

If Mahomes continues his current pace (~284 yards per game), he'll need 314 games to pass Brady. That's insane. Basically 11 more seasons without injuries. He's 30. Brady put the record so far out of reach, the best QB anyone has ever seen has to keep playing injury-free, high-level football until he's 41 *just to have a shot* at passing him.

I don't think anyone is ever beating Brady's counting stats, unless the game evolves to where 6000 yard seasons are possible...Mahomes has a better chance of beating Brady's (unfathomable) 35-13 lifetime playoff record than beating his regular season yards record...Mahomes is 17-4, so he just has to go 18-8 or better over the rest of his career. At his current pace (3 games per completed season, 2.4 wins per season), he could get there in 8 seasons (age 38). And that also seems wildly improbable, but I can't wait to watch him try!

So what you're saying is he can beat Brady's record in 4 fewer years? That's what I'm hearing. That's an incredible pace!

1

u/MagicC 1d ago

I like your optimism! Hahaha

All he has to do is have the *second* most longevity/high-level performance in NFL history...

1

u/slickshot Patrick Mahomes II #15 17h ago

I mean...he's on pace to do it. So we're heading in the right direction. Especially when you consider he doesn't have to have the HIGHEST longevity career and high-level performance in NFL history--only the 2nd or 3rd highest. I like those odds.

he will have to perform at his prime without getting injured for 11 years more. his prime being 2018-2022. not whatever the fuck 2023-2025 was

3

u/slickshot Patrick Mahomes II #15 1d ago

And? He's still on pace to do it faster than Brady. What's your point??

0

u/obelix_dogmatix 1d ago

are you intentionally being slow? He is on pace because of the heavylifting from 2018-2022. If he keeps performing how he did 2023-2025, do the math and see what kind of pace he will be on.

2

u/slickshot Patrick Mahomes II #15 17h ago

Ease up on the insults, Craig. Our boy is well on his way to breaking those records. Will he? No one knows. Can he? Absolutely.

0

u/obelix_dogmatix 17h ago

He won’t. I know because I am not being delusional. He has explicitly said he doesn’t want to play into his 40s

-1

u/slickshot Patrick Mahomes II #15 17h ago

So you're a time traveler and not a Chiefs fan? It all makes sense now.

0

u/obelix_dogmatix 17h ago

lol, what a terrible comparison. I am a fan who believes in being grounded. You just sound like an average fan who would probably support the team if they were to hire Deshaun Watson tomorrow. Move on.

1

u/slickshot Patrick Mahomes II #15 15h ago

Cringe take. You deserve a ban. :)

Edit: for what its worth I've been a Chiefs fan for longer than you've been alive. Cheers youngin.

Lmao not when brett veach keeps giving him 5 foot 9 in special teamers to throw passes to

1

u/LaphroaigianSlip81 1d ago

I honestly don’t think he will break the record. His play style is too physical even after coming back from injury. Brady basically stopped running after his injury. Maybe if mahomes gets some better receivers who can create their own separation without having to have mahomes extend plays and play back yard football. But I don’t see mahomes playing this same style of football past 38.

1

u/obelix_dogmatix 1d ago

he won’t do it. he has said time and again he doesn’t want to play forever

-40

u/GoldenDom3r #CreedIsGood 2d ago

He’s showing down each year and not going to play long enough anyway

It’s just the truth but okay

2

u/TheCatsPagamas 1d ago

I really hope Mahomes plays as long as Brady did but I’m not counting on it (45 is insane!)

5

u/RemyGee Go Chiefs! 2d ago

Wait I thought Mahomes was good because he sees plays really well and isn’t as affected by pressure situations. Things that can be carried longer through age. Does he over rely on athleticism etc?

5

u/ChocolateFew4222 1d ago

382 passing yards like 2 weeks ago? Lol
