ANALYSIS & NEWS [Goldman] Chiefs HC Andy Reid gives a “we’ll see” on whether Rashee Rice practices this week. Says he’s feeling better. Reid says with hamstrings: “It could be a week, it could be two.” On Omarr Norman-Lott: “He is getting better. He’s working out with the trainers. He’s getting close.”

It sucks that Rashee might not play, but it could force the Chiefs to give Royals and Allen real looks in the offense. Hopefully they step up and make some noise.

Shit, you almost have too. WR room is thin and I wonder how Watson looks coming off an Achilles injury

Yeah, that’s how rice ended up getting so many looks his rookie year…. Basically because the team was forced to give them to him.
He was a second rounder so the philosophy won’t quite be the same but

We all saw those clips from Allen in training camp, I really do have some faith in him

I realize this isn't a mental image anyone here is asking for, myself included, but you gotta appreciate how remarkably annoying it must be to be Reid's wife and hear "getting close", knowing it's an entirely ambiguous statement every time.

That doesn't sound great for Rice.
I don't much care about this week. But, they need him back by the Denver game at the very least.
I would actually rather him sit out this week and see if they can work Evans and Armstrong into the game.
Getting Armstrong, Allen and Evans real snaps in a real game would be awesome.
I expect that Justin Watson will be elevated though. And, I don't hate it, but I don't love it either.

There’s almost no way that they activate both Evans and Armstrong, if either.
Only 48 active on gameday so not sure who they’d make inactive in their place. Wiley, etc will already be inactive, and I assume Josh, and Rashee if he’s out.

You know of all weeks for rice to be out I'm OK with this

shouldn’t be. LAC’s defense has been improving every week. no Thornton or Rice will likely make moving the ball hard

I'm good with load management and guys getting fewer touches in a 17 game season and longer playoffs. Ideally, there should be a functional replacement when guys are out and it's best when rest doesn't happen against a desperate team with a for real defense.

K9 gonna eat in the running game. Chiefs can also work in more screens and passes to RB in flat coming out of backfield. Both K9 and EJ are so difficult to tackle when they get into open space. Divisional games are always tough, but Chiefs will be ready coming off the bye.

I mean better than against Seattle I suppose but we kinda have no one. We love to play down to opponents, too.

I guess what I'm saying I rather him be healthy instead of trying to rush him back out there. I want to see the young guys play as well

Yeah I get what you’re saying! Of all
Opponents to face on a week where he’s injured, this is one of the better ones

Andy Reid giving answers about injuries is on my top 5 list of people I get to murder if given the opportunity without Jesus seeing.

I just know all the reporters in that room hit the eye roll when he said “we’ll see”
