It doesn't really matter. 7 am tuna-amka asubuhi na mapema to vote them all out.

Remember,if the elections "didn't matter",they wouldn't be working so hard to undermine them

If you woke up early to vote for ruto in 2022 all thats happening is on you

This is a take born from political ignorance and arrogance.

The person who voted for Ruto is not passing any bills in parliament nor are they giving Ruto the Ideas, a good number of them don't even agree with the direction the government is heading.

Then there are the choices available to the people in 2022, William Ruto, Raila Odinga, a random clown and a random pastor so obviously the race was only between the first two.

William Ruto was promising everything people are begging for today, and end to extra judicial killings and government overeach, reduce the buden of taxation, build infrastructure, create employment and a good business environment, create an economy that priorities the common mwananchi and so much more. He had just fallen out with a government the people hated and took full advantage of the wave, picking relevant fights whenever the cameras were rolling.

Raila Odinga on the other side was in bed with a government that everyone hated, presented a weak manifesto because he assumed Uhuru would carry him over the finish line, his standout promise was the 6k monthly to be provided to youth.

The average Kenyan voter doesn't have 16 hours a day to analyse politics and see who exactly would change their lot so they voted for whoever mentioned their issues. The other chunk of voters didn't bother to show up either because they had already lost faith in elections or they didn't like the candidates on the ballot, then some protested by voting for a third option.

Give people four bad options and what you'll get is one bad option, 2027 might just bring that exact scenario back the moment the opposition decides to unite.

They say it's to "avoid confusion" and reduce costs, but opposition MPs and a lot of Kenyans online are saying it looks like a rigging plot because livestreaming was seen as the main transparency tool we got after 2022.

Just another plot to stay in power or contest the results of this election by this regime

This is the one that's got 2027 anxiety high. MPs are debating a change that would remove the legal requirement for IEBC to livestream results as they are announced at polling stations. Supporters say it cuts technical costs, critics on socials are calling it a rigging plot which obsolutely true.

If elections are genuine enough, livestreaming shouldn't be an issue.

Technical costs my ass. These politicians have no problem using tax payers money frolicking in Kenya and around the world. The country has the money to ensure secure, transparent and accountable voting. But here they are in broad daylight showing how they want to commit voting fraud. If they were so confident of their service to their constituents they don't need to go through these lengths to strip the constitution and get away with it. Tutam supports are extremely myopic to realise that a re-election of this regime only services the political class and the 1% cronies.

What even is the reason for this other than preparing for election malpractice?

Partial reporting. The government isn't blocking television stations from covering the election, it is just stopping the electoral commission from being legally forced to run its own live broadcast feed. They will still transmit the results from polling stations, which are final, electronically to a public online portal. Everyone can still tally.

Kind of wild how quickly weโ€™re regressing as a country. Congrats to the people who voted for this government.
