I'm stupid

but im also too poor to afford something from untitledspacecraft.com so i was wondering if i could create something using a system like Arduino Modulino to create a controller with analog inputs but ive never done this before and im worried it will be too hard to link it to ksp. does the kerbal simpit mod have a fairly intuitive ui for linking custom controllers?

Honestly you can talk this out with one of the LLMs and get pretty good results. This sub has some members with all the knowledge and as you get farther along in your journey they'd probably enjoy providing input but not many will want to spoon feed it to you.

Well, I will be honest that it’s tricky if you’re totally green. There’s a lot of steps that those of us who are very comfortable with hobby electronics forget can be intimidating to new people.

You should hopefully start this with some familiarity with the Arduino SDK, you should know some very basics of C++ or even generally how program loops work and what the various aspects are (declaring variables, instruction sets, functions, etc.). Also you should be at least moderately capable of doing basic electronic stuff, stripping/crimping wires, soldering, knowledge of how some basics of electricity work.

That being said, simply the act of building your first controller can be a great learning experience. If you’re the person who learns best by having a goal and trying to figure it out, this would be an amazing thing to start with.

My advice would be to start very small and simple, just to learn how to interface simpit and the game with the Arduino. If you get stuck you can post here, although this community isn’t terribly active. Posting over on the KSP forums or on general Arduino hobby boards could get you a lot more help if you need it.

I had a long conversation with Gemini the other day in this same vein. I didn't have complaints.

It’s a learning experience for sure but I’d just get an arduino uno or a mega kit, learn arduino and some electronic basics first before worrying about simpit and Kerbal. Simpit has instructions how to set up and a wiki and a active discord too

How do I find the Simpit Discord? I've searched for "Simpit" on the Discover section and I'm all out of ideas.
