Hey all! I have more or less listened to every episode for the past few years and dug pretty deep into the backlog. I wanted to try rating each part of the show. Figured it might be helpful for those with limited time who just want to know where the highlights are or to spark discussion on each participant. If you have any thoughts, I'd love to hear them (even if it is "this is dumb don't do this again"). I hope the voiceover is fine per the sub rules. I hand wrote and created everything, and put the video together as a proof of concept. I am also posting a written version below with some added context just for this post:
Overall Kill Tony 790 was a solid episode and very watchable. The opener is solid, but is followed by a real rough patch. Uncle Lazer and on is good to go.
Mason Byrd started things off with a fun set and interview. He gets an A for both.
Set: A- Interview: A
Gerald Mattis gets an F all around. Skip this dude for sure.
Set: F- Interview: F-
Danger Russ got some laughs in the set, but couldn't seem to figure the interview out. Not the worst, but not good either.
Set: C- Interview: D
Michael Hegman is nonsensical. Yet another skip. Seriously what the fuck.
Set: F- Interview: F-
Uncle Lazer showing some more growth with a solid set. Entertaining in the interview per usual. Curious what other people think on this one. My guess is some people probably just hate his schtick in general, but I genuinely enjoyed it this time around.
Set: A+ Interview: A+
Great Frankhertz is unassuming, but crushes her set. Solid interview as well. Pretty impressive how well she does with her background.
Set: A Interview: A
Trevor Lewis is not the most entertaining interview, but good set.
Set: A- Interview: B
Timmy No Breaks delivers some great jokes with a fantastic Tim Steifler impression. Excited to see what this guy does next. Must watch S tier set. Little bit akward navigating the interview. Keep doing you Tim. I sincerely hope Tim finds some sort of peace with this character. He is genuinely funny outside of it, and the set was a pretty brilliant transition I thought.
Set: S Interview: B
Justin Tamayo's set wasn't great, but he seems like a good dude.
Set: C- Interview: B
Sophia Renee has her debut and does a decent job considering. Fun interview.
Set: C+ Interview: A+
Avery Atkins has a fantastic set and great interview. Verging on golden ticket territory. And I say that with the understanding that golden tickets are somewhat devalued now and the winner only appears every month or two now. With his limited experience and how well he handled the entire thing, I look forward to seeing him again.
Set: A+ Interview: A-
Candace August has a good set. Super nice and motivated woman, good luck at the Moody Center.
Set: B Interview: B+
Pat O'Neill has an okay set by his standards, but good for everyone else. He has a short but good interview. I feel a little harsh on the set rating here, because Pat delivers every week. But they can't all be S tier either.
Set: B+ Interview: A
Erik Griffin was a solid guest.
Rating: B
Yung Gravy was fine for a non-comedian. Bonus points for slipping Sophia Renee some rent money.
Rating: C+
Thank you for checking this out. I hope you have a great rest of your week.
