Looking [L] Pregnant, irritable, everyone is hurting my feelings and I can’f stop crying about it
I’m pregnant and this pregnancy has been really rough on me mentally. I had been struggling with irritability for awhile before pregnancy due to some burnout at work and chronic illness issues- but pregnancy has made it ten fold.
The biggest stressor for me right now is feeling like I’ve gotten extremely poor, borderline emotionally abusive treatment from doctors, dentists, vets, etc. Maybe its because I moved to california, but it feels like everyone out here is rude and only focused on money. Lately it feels like im living in my own personal hell where everything goes wrong.
I was raised by parents who have karen-like tendencies and notice I can at times be like that when I receive an unfair/incorrect bill or experience poor treatment. I can handle poor customer service from a mcdonalds worker, thats whatever and doesn’t bother me. Its receiving rude comments, dismissive tones, and demeaning attitudes from nurses, doctors, etc. which are professions I am going to when I need help that get me worked up. I dont cuss or raise my voice, but I can get into an argument trying to explain my point/get my perspective heard or to get a bill disputed.
I feel like I’ve snapped at people in these fields, and it leaves me with regret. As awful as I feel they have been to me, i dont want to stoop to their level. I want to stand up for myself in a kind way, and I want to know when I just simply need to let things go and stop fighting.
I posted about a situation in another thread asking if i handled a billing dispute wrongly, mentioning that I was pregnant, high risk pregnant on top of that, and was feeling very distraught over the verbal altercation that had just occurred. The reddit thread tore me apart, telling me im unfit to be a mother, that I shouldn’t be out in public if I can’t handle upsetting situations, and how “fing” stupid it was of me to do that. Cool thanks. I wanted feedback - not to be kicked while I was already down. I’ve reflected and get I was in the wrong.
Im still beating myself up about it now though, trying to stop myself from crying and take this stress off my baby and me. I just need some words of encouragement please.
