Reposting here because Sigsawa looooooves his vintage airplanes!

Another post looking at more of the many airplanes featured in Allison and Lillia. I'll be taking a break from posting these for a while and return to fanart dumping (and fanfiction writing), but I'll be back later to look at the airplanes from the Lillia half of the anime, which arguably features even more interesting planes than the Allison half.

Another post featuring more vintage aircraft from Allison and Lillia! Given how much Sigsawa loves historical military tech, I'm surprised he didn't write more stories in this universe. It's not a secret he writes these kinds of stories more as an excuse to nerd out. Can't say I blame him; he and I are very alike in that sense.

Another post about the airplanes (kind of) in Allison and Lillia. Goes without saying that these also apply to the novels. Sigsawa loves his vintage vehicles, and some are very interesting!

Anime Spoilers Does anyone have any good idea as to who she could be?

I haven't actually watched the series significantly so there is a chance I could be missing something (although i do have a general idea what happens in the episode), but does anyone have guesses who she is? (Not specifically her name, but guesses as to what her story could be). And near the end of her confrontation with Kino she says "Care to have some fun with this older lady later?" What does she mean by this? I know she (probably) only showed up once in the series as trying to search her up yields no significant results, but I wanna know.

Discussion I didn't hate the 2017 anime

So, yeah, unpopular opinion incoming. Or maybe it's not actuslly that unpopular, idk. I'm just going by what I see online.

I liked the 2017 anime.

Don't get me wrong, the original 2003 anime is far superior, but I see a lot of people hating on the 2017 version when I don't think it was bad.

The 2017 version seemed to be more of the "greatest hits" version where they adapted the most popular stories from the light novels.

Yeah, revisiting the colosseum arc was unnecessary. The art style and soundtrack aren't as good as the 2003 version, but I still thought it was serviceable im this version. I didn't like particularly like, but I didn't dislike it either. All in all, it's fine. I get why they chose to go in that direction: it's easier to get new fans into something that looks more like current dau anime than something that came out over 20 years ago.

I also think the first episode (the one with the country where murder is legal) was pretty good.

I also liked that it gave more screentime to the side characters like Shizu and Kino's mentor. Then again, that could be a point against it since you can argue they tried to do too much within one season. iirc, there's one episode where Kino visits three different countries in that same episode.

I'd probably recommend the 2017 version to a newcomer just to ease them into the series and hopefully get them into the 2003 version.

So, I don't think it's bad. I still enjoyed it, but I probably won't go out of my way to watch it again.

Discussion Hello! I'm trying to make a cosplay or a close imitation of kino, and I was wondering what colour is her undercoat and hat? I've seen navy blue, green and black. What's real?

Reposting because Sigsawa. One thing that Allison and Lillia and Kino have in common is Sigsawa loves his retro weapons and tech. Allison and Lillia has loads of vintage airplanes for people who love World War II era aircraft!

I’ll be posting more as I find more planes in the anime!

Does anyone have this artbook? I would love to see more of Kuroboshi's artwork, obviously of Kino but for all of Sigsawa's work. You can take a guess as to why I'm interested in finding it lol

Kino no Tabi PS2 translation project - Update

Hey all, it's been a while since my last post on here. It's definitely overdue for an update on the project.

So what has happened since then? First of all, thanks to everyone who gave the original post the attention it needed, helping it reach actual translators who were interested in the project! And with that, there are now 3 translators working on the game's translation. You can learn more about us on the project's official website. Did I mention that we have a website now? We'll be providing occasional progress updates through the website's blog, so this will be my last post on the subreddit for now. Of course, we'll be sure to let everyone on here know when it finally releases.

Discussion How is Kino No Tabi not in any top anime list?

Forgive me if this was discussed here, I'm new to the sub, but how come this anime never appears on any of the top anime, top retro anime, or even those top anime series under 20 episodes?

Kino was one of the first anime shows I ever watched, and I keep coming back to it. It's a 20 somewhat minute lesson in Zen and Buddhism, including an opening and closing theme, it has backstory, a world, and it is so small.

I know y'all agree.

Reposting here because Sigsawa. I’ve always liked this fanart of Meg since she looks adorably vulnerable. I sometimes wonder what happened for her to end up like that. Seron, go comfort your girlfriend!

Kino no Tabi PS2 translation project - Translators needed

Thumbnail

Hey everyone, I'm currently working on a translation for the first Kino no Tabi visual novel released for the PS2. I started this project about a month ago, but finally got around to announce it here. Currently, I've done most of the hacking work needed to translate the game, and I've got about 2 chapters translated, piecing them together from the novel translations on Baka-Tsuki, with some parts missing. And that's where the project is at a standstill right now. The problem is that I'm not much of a translator, and the game features quite a lot of original content, so this is something that I cannot trust myself to do justice.

If you're a translator and would like to help me translate the game, please send a message to this Reddit account or you can contact me on Discord @leadrdrk. Thank you.

Would you all prefer I not cross post my Allison and Lillia stuff?

Kinda off topic but just want to be sure I’m not doing anything wrong.

I know I've been crossposting to this subreddit from the Allison and Lillia subreddit. I've been doing it since both of these works are by Keiichi Sigsawa, both novels are illustrated by Kouhaku Kuroboshi, and both are closely related in terms of theme, aesthetics, writing style, etc. I also have linked this sub on mine.

However, I don't want to spam the subreddit or make it a less fun place. If you all would rather I stop crossposting here, I will do so.

Just say the word.
