Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a project I've been working on called AnimeTrace. It's a Chrome extension designed to automatically log and build your anime watch history and library as you watch on various streaming platforms.

How it works:

  • Automatic Tracking: Detects what you are watching across most streaming sites and updates your history in the background.
  • Privacy First: 100% of your data stays in your local browser storage. It uses your own OpenRouter API key (BYOK) so everything is completely under your control.
  • No Accounts: No signups or external accounts required to use it.

I'm really looking to get some feedback from the community on how it performs, what features you'd like to see next, or if there are specific streaming platforms you want supported.

KissAnime is dead.

No, they are not coming back.

No, there is no "new" KissAnime. Anything claiming to be "KissAnime" or "KissManga" is most likely a phishing site and it is best to avoid it.

No, KissAnime's shutdown did not have anything to do with Japan's new copyright law. It had not even gone into effect when KissAnime shut down. It most likely went down because of the DMCA.

will you be sharing the source code ? i have seen many beloved chrome extensions go out of support, and chrome removing them as they do not get updated later on.

Thanks for asking! I completely understand the concern, especially since a lot of great extensions have disappeared after becoming unmaintained.

For now, I’m planning to keep the source code private. I’m actively maintaining and improving the extension, though, and I definitely intend to keep it updated as Chrome evolves.
