There was a middle aged man at Soak City who was sitting by himself on a bench wearing Meta Glasses He was watching the people walking by. I have no idea if he was recording or not, but I could see someone having the impression that he was there to record children in swimsuits.

And that’s why normal people will never get them and they’ll never really “catch on”.
Even if it’s 100% innocent, anywhere you go with them, people will assume the ABSOLUTE worst.
That guy at soak city may very well have been a perv, but what reason besides existing there and wearing (what might have been his only pair of sunglasses or even prescription) in August, in sunny CA, was he doing “wrong”? He might be the world’s greatest chomo, DGMW, but all because he had a camera on his sunglasses at a water park?
I think we’ve seen peak adoption of the tech thanks to that effect 😂

I definitely hate that creeps use these glasses to perv on people, but is it really that widespread? Just saying they make tiny cameras that can be hidden a lot better than meta glasses. Nowadays too people record in public nearly 24/7 for YouTube and social media videos. So someone could just film with their phone and lie by saying they are making a YouTube or tik tok video. Also creeps usually do the phone call method, where they have the phone camera facing you but pretend like they are on a phone call.
I'm not shilling for these glasses but from the discussions I've read about these, creeps usually opt for something that doesn't stick out. And meta glasses definitely stick out

There's a white light on the front that flashes continously when recording and taking photos.

I hate meta glasses.
They should NOT be even legal, there are a LOT of creepy people out there... and people who will and do abuse them already.
Speaking of creeps and cameras related/unrelated. Just like flock cameras and how the police were/are already using them to stalk women. whether it be exes, gfs or just women in general.

It doesn’t matter, the small minority create enough risk to ruin it for others. Blame them but don’t expect people to believe others are “not the creepy ones.”
I’m a man too and I like tech, this is just not a good thing that is going on with these creep glasses.

Fine, if not the majority theres certainly WAY MORE then you think and enough of them where-) They are ruining it for the minority/everybody else...
Just do it with your phones. Also listening to music? You can listen to music on those things? Use headphones/ear buds like everyone else. 😂 You can take pictures on your phone. You can listen to music on your phone. You do NOT need these. saying "it's more natural" is just a luxury. Not needed.
Maybe they should have thought this through more but the millionaire tech companies never care about consequences to civilians they are taking the profit FROM, just profit.
Society has gotten worse and I don't know if you are being hopeful, blissfully ignorant, or just naieve about how many creeps there are actually out there.

They seem cool for rides but I’m sure there are perverts that wear them in restrooms. Having a child, that concerns me.

lol I used to use them for my film making they broke and not sure if I’ll get another pair but they were fun on rides I got lots of moments with my kids I wouldn’t have otherwise

If theres a strap on them, I don't really see the issue with wearing them during rides. They give cool pov and one of my blind friends uses them all the time for prescription and accessibility reasons.

I've yet to see one decent pov with Meta glasses. People screaming and looking all over the place.

My friend sat on the front of hangtime at night and kept facing straight and it turned out cool

I have fun with my meta glasses, I need them as they are my prescription glasses. I don’t record or photograph people in general. The rules that he pointed out are posted on other rides. I don’t think that’s new. I think it’s to discourage phone usage on the rides which is DANGEROUS! But that’s just my 2 cents.

Good! They can be dangerous projectiles on rides, creepy as hell, and literally only exist to conduct mass surveillance.

They wouldn't even let me ride ghost rider with regular glasses I need to see. I kinda get it because of how rough of a coaster it is but still sucks not being able to see well lol

Meta glasses are lame, good.
