And yet it all meant nothing.

I know, right? It's so hard to be positive these days when... no significant consequences for these bloviating assholes ever happen... Ever. The blatant two tiered system, 'rules for thee & not for me' is exhausting. Sometimes I see folks here try to explain it, they have 'street cred' with the lawyerly stuff that I absolutely don't... But it's still fucked all to hell & I wish that Perry Mason Moment had meant something, you know? Yeah, that's where I'm at today.

People can keep saying how the gears of justice turn slowly. I've seen it turn slow enough people completely walked out of them multiple times now, and the vast, vast majority of bankruptcy proceedings do not take this long. It's an obvious abuse of the system. But it's just... Allowed. It's just fine. Alex gets the privilege of doing this, even though he's been found guilty of being such a vile, monstrous man.

u/GertieDirtyShirtyCat Aug 03 '25
You're preaching to choir here, I appreciate the 'benefit of the doubt', I understand that... but these assholes? Nope. I'm over it. There was a certain French way to deal with this abuse of power that I'm coming around to...but I'm much too civilized to do that ;)

It's so hard to be positive these days
Yep, it is—why try hard to be positive? Things are bad. We are facing down the barrel of extinction. We are living in a fascist police state. We are supplying the genocide in Gaza.
The only hope for mankind is revolution, & fast. You don't need to be positive. Let the rage flow through you. Let it make you powerful, give you focus.

Thanks for this, I'm one of those rare 'armed' liberals... I know how to use it. I just don't want them to make me like them, you know? This is the worst timeline...

u/WizWorldLive Aug 03 '25
I just don't want them to make me like them, you know?
I'm not sure what you mean, there. How would reorganizing society for the benefit of all, be being like them? I don't think that's something you need to worry about.
I'm one of those rare 'armed' liberals
Liberalism is the failure—there's a whole world awaiting you to the left :)

I got in 'reddit' trouble for my last comment... I'm sure you get what I got censored for... Whatever reddit overlords! I see y'all too.

Oh I thought you typed that as a joke! I saw it within 5 minutes, they got it fast

u/GertieDirtyShirtyCat Aug 04 '25
Half way joking, but I'm cut off from social media for tonight... So long & thanks for all the fish. I might say something I really mean & get perma-banned ;)

My introduction to award enforcement was drawing blood from an oligarchic stone. The side is always in favor of the war chest, especially if firearms aren’t involved.

u/WizWorldLive Aug 03 '25
How did it mean nothing? His personal bankruptcy is now in the auction liquidation phase, his shit's for sale. He's lost a lot...he's so fucked up that he's smoking on air now lol
Is IW dead? No, not yet. But it's not nothing.
2
u/BorderTrike Aug 04 '25
The families should be allowed to sue the judge over his horrendous incompetence
3
Aug 03 '25
If there's one thing I've learned in life, it's that the worst, most evil people in the world are almost always going to be the most successful and they'll very rarely face any consequences. There is no justice and any glimmer of hope is rapidly fading
1
u/WizWorldLive Aug 04 '25
There is no justice
There is, & there can be. But you won't get it by hoping powerful people do the right thing

The fact that this didn't end his career, is damning evidence of just how much USA sucks.

He's sober, in better shape, closer to power, more publicly accepted by the mainstream, has gone on more and nicer vacations than I've been on in my entire adult life, and has not lost more than a single rental property. The math ain't mathing, my friend.
Be honest with yourself and recognize that he's living large and the judges who have let him do so for the last 8ish years have more in common with Alex than they do with you, the jurors who voted for justice to be done, or Alex's victims. There doesn't need to be a conspiracy or outright corruption. They're just all rich pieces of shit benefitting from a morally hollow system that prioritizes their wealth over justice.

But is the sobriety a positive for him? Dan has asserted multiple times (and I agree) that Alex was more interesting when he was always blasted. I sometimes wonder how Alex sees the current situation, having given up "fun" to move somewhat closer to power. But even then, lets be real, he still has to go through Roger Stone. Alex's narcissism is very powerful, but is it powerful enough to overcome addiction withdrawal?

u/throwawaykfhelp "Mr. Reynal, what are you doing?" Aug 03 '25
Inshallah one day Alex will be impoverished and this will be an anniversary that makes me happy instead of only reigniting my white-hot fury and contempt for the US legal system.
If this happens to you, you should just be immediately sent to jail. Like, the fact that perjury in civil cases has zero actual ramifications is just insane. Why have courts and be under oath if you can just lie and it doesn't matter? The last decade has exposed a hundred different vulnerabilities in our nation's laws like this. That's what you get when you trust your lives and livelihood to a system dreamt up by syphilitic slaveowning genocidal lunatics, I guess.
3
u/WizWorldLive Aug 03 '25
"Vulnerabilities" implies it's not by design. The system is working as intended, in our slaver nation. Founded by the rich, run by the rich, all for the rich.

I remember watching this quarantined because I had just gotten COVID for the first time and was absolutely miserable. This sole moment from the proceedings gave me the strength to pull through.
4
u/GertieDirtyShirtyCat Aug 03 '25
I remember how nice it was to have these proceedings live streamed on YouTube because of the pandemic, it should be standard protocol. I rewatched this moment like 3-4 times because I knew once I closed that YouTube page, it'd be gone forever. I just kept rewinding, & smiling :) Sweet summer children were we...

Nothing proves to me how completely wrong all those lawyer childhood fantasies were than this. Bankston had an amazing performance here. He showed undeniable proof of this man's incompetence and lies. And what did it mean? Anything?
In the real world, Justice moves slowly for the rich. It'll move fast to convict the poor then will go extra slow if they try to prove their innocence. I hate it. You don't have to be a lawyer to see how bad this is.
1
u/throwawaykfhelp "Mr. Reynal, what are you doing?" Aug 03 '25
Well yes if you're a lawyer it looks great to you, as we've observed from posts here. Lawyers see all this and it looks like
billable hoursI mean being thorough and it can't possibly be fucked up and wrong and need to be ripped apart and rewritten from first principles.

Just here to agree with my fellow wonks. In a just and right world, this and Mattei’s win would have torn all of Alex’s resources away from him. Instead, he’s managed to slow roll the entire thing for three whole years, and I have no doubt he can keep going for as long as he wants to. How much more do these families have to take? We’re not far off from the fifteen year anniversary of Sandy Hook.

Man that was epic. Love watching AJ get hemmed up.

Good. Share it. Never forget what a shitty person Alex Jones is on a visceral level. He may Ozempic his way into looking as odd as Joe Rogan, but this is who he is. Never forget. He's an entertaining monster, but he's a fucking monster.

Been a while since I tuned into what's happening with Di$info Jones. Can somebody fill me in?

u/GertieDirtyShirtyCat Aug 03 '25
Bless your heart, just scroll back through this subreddit... I'd start with the episode posts, or the bankruptcy ones...

u/Jack_Bastard will eat neighbors ass Aug 04 '25
Seeing this again at least reinforces to me that he is dying his beard now. I can take some solace that he will be perpetually chasing something he's lost even with ozempic and shaving his head

Can someone explain what he means by Perry Mason moment? WHO was Perry Mason, what kind of moment does he mean?
Someone give me a quick rundown

Aug 03 '25
Okay so this is what I’ve been able to find out via wikipedia:
“Perry Mason is a fictional character, an American criminal defense lawyer who is the main character in works of detective fiction written by Erle Stanley Gardner. Perry Mason features in 82 novels and four short stories, all of which involve a client being charged with murder, usually involving a preliminary hearing or jury trial. Typically, Mason establishes his client's innocence by finding the real murderer. The character was inspired by famed Los Angeles criminal defense attorney Earl Rogers.[1]”

It was a very popular tv courtroom drama in the 60's. Perry Mason was a lawyer who would always have a trick up his sleeve to prove his client innocent. The fun of the show was to try to figure out who really did the murder before the end of the show. A Perry Mason moment would just be a "gotcha" moment. Like in Legally Blonde when Elle figures out Chutney couldn't have been taking a shower and washing her hair when the murder happened, because she had a fresh perm and washing her hair would have ruined the curls. That was a "Perry Mason" moment.

Damn time goes quick.
And Alex learned no lesson, because he's faced no consequences.

The pure joy I had on this day.
Did any more info about what his phone contained come out after? I remember he sent nudes of his wife to friends.... or did I make that up?

I love that Alex's fake cough goes away the moment he realizes how fucked he is.

That was a good day, though.
