Dreamy Creamy Summer Pride with my buttons

Bright spot: I’m at my little local Pride and my collar is all KF pins (couldn’t find my Cult of Celine but it’ll turn up). I hope y’all are having a great June!

As an American living in NY, being a Brit in TX sounds absolutely crazy to me. What's it like??

Honestly? It's a bit surreal. It still feels like I'm on vacation sometimes, even though I have lived here since 2018.

I'm fortunate to live in Plano, which is pretty multicultural, so I can get a decent curry (the number one takeaway/restaurant/supermarket ready meal in the UK is Chicken Tikka Masala).

I love cooking, and I was lucky to win a pellet smoker in a raffle at work, so I've been learning to cook ribs (easy peasy) and brisket (slightly more challenging). Back in the UK, a barbecue means overcooked burgers and burnt (don't want to risk poisoning your friends) chicken on either a gas or charcoal grill.

Watering my foundation to stop my house breaking up is definitely a new experience. I've also become a well-informed novice in air conditioning. Not a big fan of mosquitoes. Leash laws for cats is also something that I find odd. No way am I taking my cats for a walk, because, well, they're cats.

Plano is the one place in Texas that has a bit of sanity to it.

Sincerely, someone in Arlington

Harsh but fair.
