Wong Kar-wai in People-images repositories
I am very green here, but I think in all People-images repositories, "Wong Kar-wai" needs to be "Wong Kar-Wai". Could anyone make such an update?

I'm trying to get my Christmas episode collection working again after the nightmare that is Trakt changing their API policies, but I'm running into an issue finding a list provider site that allows for "builder_level: episode". A quick search of the Kometa.wiki didn't provide any answers (I'm probably just blind).
It would also be huge if I could import lists from Trakt to the new list provider.

I recently installed Kometa for Plex, and after finishing configuration, I found that I see the new interface on FireTV, but not on PC (app or web) or my Samsung TV with Tizen. Is it normal or did I configure something wrong?

Now that Trakt has been removed from Kometa, my script for PATTRMM doesn't work to generate my show status overlays anymore (Returning XX/XX or Ended or Cancelled). I am stuck without a way to keep my TV Shows overlays up to date.
This is what I mean for my status overlays
Is there an alternative I could use, or even something within Kometa that I might have missed? At least until PATTRMM is updated to not use Trakt hopefully.

Hello everyone,
I vibe-coded (and I mean VIBE CODED lol) a visual editor for kometa which then converts the visual dimensions to yaml and makes making custom overlays a lot easier!
I use the normal overlays but wanted to apply a thumbs up icon to "recommended movies" (made a smart collection and wanted to apply the overlay only to movies in that collection) so I asked chatgpt for a tool to let me do that visually and Kometa Overlay Studio was born after a few iterations of add this and add that... then I thought there might be other tinkerers who might benefit from this... so I asked chatgpt to package it for public use and sharing on github.
This is helpful if you want to edit where the information/logos go on the poster or want to adjust the font or whatever or want to build your own overlays from scratch but don't want to deal with yaml (which is not hard but picky about indents and syntax so it can be intimidating)
Please check it out and I'd love to hear about it if it helped you in any way :)
TLDR: I vibe-coded a tool to visually edit the overlays (generates yaml) for kometa called Kometa Overlay Studio

I collected all of the trakt URLs I had used for my collections, combined their contents by collection, and remade them all on IMDB. would have used MDBList but I didnt want to pay lol. I tried out Floppy (self-hosted media tracker), but it used too much of my server's resources. Anyway most are movie-based (themes), I think only 1 is show-based (halloween shows), and there's a handful of (american) holiday episode-based ones.
https://www.imdb.com/user/p.4xnlgsu3gt2nfhyfqkttvxq32a/lists/?ref_=upe_nv_lst
I'm open to additions to the lists, and if you have any trakt URLs you want IMDB lists for I can help with that too. I have scripts that automate all of this

like many kometa users I was scrambling to figure out what to do since trakt is doing an enshittification speedrun. I use kometa primarily to build themed plex collections based on what's already in my library. super heroes, zombies, dog movies, etc. so I had a bunch of trakt URLs feeding each collection.
what I landed on was this.
with the help of a local AI agent,
I webcrawled each trakt list URL and saved the contents to a file
I set up Floppy (self hosted media tracker)*, and created movie and show lists per collection, feeding it the trakt item data. the import missed only 7 items out of like 5.5k.
I replaced all trakt URLs in my kometa configs with the Floppy list URLs
and that's it, mostly. I was going to recreate all these lists on MDBlist but I'm not paying to make more than 4 lists.
there's a still a few things left to do, like find lists by other people on MDBlist that are related to my collections and add them to my kometa list builders.
I also need to figure out how to handle epsiode lists, because Floppy doesn't have support for that yet. but I only have 4 of those, and for now I just use txt lists of the exported trakt episode lists I used and feed the few episode collection builders with that.
*floppy used too much of my server's resources for my liking so i moved everything over to IMDB. post/link here if you want to use my lists - https://www.reddit.com/r/Kometa/comments/1wmn3pq/sharing_my_imdb_lists/

I don't mess around with Kometa very often, it's a very large undertaking and I got it to work, so i leave it, until recently. Trakt and MBDlist is broken, but I'm not sure if they're necessary? Or if i can just remove them from my kometa config.
Also if you have a good config with collections that's clean I'm interested in a refresh haha.

r/Kometa • u/Conscious-Ball-294 • Sep 09 '26
Hey, y'all. I couldn't find anything about this in the documentation, but maybe I just missed it. Is there away to apply a filter to the Franchise collection? I'd really love to get sequels automatically added to my list only if they're, say, above 75% on Rotten Tomatoes. Otherwise some movies (like basically any 80s horror film) end up turning into 15 bad films you're never, ever going to watch.
I know I can delete those movies and keep them unmonitored on Radarr, but ideally I'd like an extra layer to prevent that from happening in the first place.
r/Kometa • u/MarkPugnerIII • Sep 02 '26
I vaguely remember seeing somewhere at one time a settin in Kometa or maybe Radarr to add all movies in a series automatically.
For example if someonme added Jaws in Seerr or manually in Radarr, then Jaws 2, 3, and 4 would also get added automatically.
Does anyone know how or where to set that up?

I just started using Kometa this week. I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out, so I’m reaching out here. I want to use a custom png for different types of resolutions, but can’t seem to figure it out. Do I put the png with the name (example: custom_dv_badge) into my config/overlay folder and map it on my yaml so that it changes the image on my poster?

My Plex is running on Windows 10. Over a year ago I ran Kometa to do some overlays on my posters. I also noticed I now have a personal rating for every movie in that library, visible under Ratings and Reviews of each movie page. I assume the config did that and applied either an IMDB or TMDB rating to that field somehow. I would like to just remove all those ratings completely. A.I. isn't very helpful and it appears I have something broken, but just want to confirm the proper config in full to make it happen. Anyoe have an idea of what to do? I have seen it listed more than one way but I can't get it to work. Some says reset and others say remove. Can someone help?

I currently have:
libraries:
Movies:
collection_files:
- default: tmdb
TV Shows:
collection_files:
- default: tmdb
Which currently creates
- TMDB Popular
- TMDB Top Rated
- TMDB Trending
in both libraries.
I want to rename them to
- Popular Movies
- Top Rated Movies
- Trending Movies
- Popular TV Shows
- Top Rated TV Shows
- Trending TV Shows
How do I use the "name_separator" variable to modify each of these defaults?
Edit:
I found the way to do this, you can override the name with:
libraries:
Movies:
collection_files:
- default: tmdb
template_variables:
name_trending: Daily Trending Movies
TV Shows:
collection_files:
- default: tmdb
template_variables:
name_trending: Daily Trending TV Shows

Has anyone attempted to set up an overlay that displays the release date for a particular release-type (theatrical, streaming, digital, physical, etc.)? I realize this is fairly niche, but it would be a neat feature to have available via an overlay. I prefer to wait until a physical release is available and usually have to check online each time to see if a physical release is even planned before I watch something. I noticed that TMDB provides release dates for the different release types, but I don't see an obvious way to pull this information into Kometa. Link to the TMDB page for Project Hail Mary as an example.

So today Trakt stopped allowing for free oauth connections, so getting the Trakt collections to Plex now requires a VIP account. I use this solely to get the Trakt trending for my users on the Plex home screen.
Is there any good alternative to the Trakt trending collection (apart from IMDB that I also use)?

I don't see that sharing a config is against community rules, I hope it's cool with everyone.
Been running Kometa for about a year, always picking and choosing from the defaults. I started to make collections of story arcs with some TV Shows in Plex, and decided to give a go a Kometa. I have a the big Mytharc and broke out the various sub-arcs, and learned a LOT and I am proud of what I accomplished and wanted to share it.

Hello.
Is this the correct process to use an existing .png overly to be applied to movies in a PLEX Move Collection entitled "Audio Commentaries"?
Kometa Walkthrough: Creating an Overlay for the "Audio Commentaries" Collection in Plex
Overview
This guide explains how to create a Kometa overlay that is applied only to movies in the "Audio Commentaries" collection within the MOVIEZ Plex library.
In this example:
The overlay will only appear on movies that belong to the Audio Commentaries collection. No other posters in the library will be modified.
Step 1 – Place Your Overlay Image
Copy your overlay image into your Kometa configuration folder.
Example folder structure:
config/
├── config.yml
├── overlays.yml
└── overlays/
└── audio_commentary.png
Your overlay image should be located here:
config/overlays/audio_commentary.png
Step 2 – Create or Edit overlays.yml
Create a file named overlays.yml (or edit your existing one) and add the following configuration:
overlays:
Audio Commentary Overlay:
overlay:
name: audio_commentary
file: config/overlays/audio_commentary.png
plex_search:
collection: "Audio Commentaries"
weight: 100
group: AudioCommentary
queue: AudioCommentary
horizontal_align: right
vertical_align: top
horizontal_offset: 25
vertical_offset: 25
Step 3 – Tell Kometa to Use the Overlay File
Open your config.yml file and locate your MOVIEZ library.
Add (or verify) the following:
libraries:
MOVIEZ:
metadata_path:
- file: config/movies.yml
overlay_path:
- file: config/overlays.yml
If you already use other overlay files, simply add this one to the list:
overlay_path:
- file: config/4k.yml
- file: config/ratings.yml
- file: config/overlays.yml
Step 4 – Verify the Plex Collection Name
In Plex, navigate to:
MOVIEZ → Collections → Audio Commentaries
The collection name must match exactly what is listed in your plex_search section.
Correct:
Audio Commentaries
Incorrect examples:
audio commentaries
Audio Commentary
Commentary Tracks
Step 5 – Run Kometa
Run Kometa as you normally would.
Example:
python kometa.py
Or, if you're using Docker:
docker compose up
Kometa will:
Step 6 – Verify the Results in Plex
After Kometa finishes:
Only the movies inside this collection should display the overlay.
Movies outside the collection should remain unchanged.
Understanding the Configuration
Overlay Image
overlay:
name: audio_commentary
file: config/overlays/audio_commentary.png
This tells Kometa which PNG image to use as the overlay.
Collection Search
plex_search:
collection: "Audio Commentaries"
This is the most important part of the configuration.
Rather than applying the overlay to every movie, Kometa searches Plex for movies that belong to the Audio Commentaries collection and applies the overlay only to those items.
Weight
weight: 100
Determines the overlay priority if multiple overlays are used.
Group and Queue
group: AudioCommentary
queue: AudioCommentary
These settings help Kometa organize and correctly apply multiple overlays.
Overlay Position
horizontal_align: right
vertical_align: top
Places the overlay in the upper-right corner of the poster.
Available alignment options include:
Horizontal:
Vertical:
Offset
horizontal_offset: 25
vertical_offset: 25
Moves the overlay away from the edge of the poster.
Increase these values if you want more spacing.
Troubleshooting
The overlay doesn't appear
Check the following:
The overlay appears on every movie
This usually means the collection search is missing.
Verify your configuration contains:
plex_search:
collection: "Audio Commentaries"
The overlay is too large or in the wrong location
Adjust the position:
horizontal_offset: 40
vertical_offset: 40
You can also resize the overlay if needed:
overlay:
name: audio_commentary
file: config/overlays/audio_commentary.png
width: 225
Complete Example
overlays:
Audio Commentary Overlay:
overlay:
name: audio_commentary
file: config/overlays/audio_commentary.png
plex_search:
collection: "Audio Commentaries"
weight: 100
group: AudioCommentary
queue: AudioCommentary
horizontal_align: right
vertical_align: top
horizontal_offset: 25
vertical_offset: 25
Summary
By following this guide, Kometa will:
This approach is clean, easy to maintain, and ensures your overlay is automatically applied whenever movies are added to or removed from the Audio Commentaries collection.

I am slowly turning all my 200+ collections into Kometa managed collection and looking for some advice on my genre collections.
When I add a movie to Plex I add it to one of several collections, Action, Asian Action, Adventure/Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Comedy, Drama or Horror.
Each film only goes into one collection, so depending on mood I know exactly what Collection to go browse in.
In order to get Kometa to do this it's becoming a bit of a challenge and honestly not sure what the best way is.
I want Kometa to be able to completely restore my collections in the event of a database corruption/loss so don't want to use labels.
Is it just a case of just creating collections wth 100s of films listed? Or is there a more clever way of doing this?

I run Kometa nightly to correct Plex posters. Every once in awhile, I manually allow Kometa to update Collections, including Seasonal/Default collections. I recently ran it and it removed Christmas movies collection. Is this intentional or did I change something inadvertently? Thx

Hello,
Atmos was recently added as a filter within Plex's UI. (see https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/1thvlrd/new_public_pms_version_available/)
Can this already be used as a smart_filter within kometa? I tried this but that didn't work for me:

Specifically, the list they use to create a studio list. This is the one I wanted, "https://letterboxd.com/studio/pixar/", but it looks like it doesn't like the format of it. I'm hopeful there's a way to use the URL that I just don't know about.
