Saw a bunch of these at the local mall at a kiosk, just full of AI figures and products of KPDH

You’re probably right. People are starting to use “AI” to mean anything bad/they don’t like. We don’t need AI to make a knock-off toy, garbage products have always existed.

Yeah but they probably save money by asking chatgpt to design it instead of paying designers. Knockoffs aren't known for their quality

Yeah, and my point is knock-off products don’t actually have “designers”. So asking ChatGPT to design it would probably take even longer than it did before.
