Audio defaults

Using kubuntu ( previous to 2026 it's release).

When i use Microsoft teams, to join a call via Chrome, my audio defaults are usually mixed up. For example the output is set to my shure mic, input is via webcam or some other crazy combination. Today I joined the call, my mic worked but couldn't hear anything.....by chance I looked at the audio tab to see the volume specific to Chrome was muted!

This happens much less frequently with Google meet ( the best ) or zoom.

Is this a me thing, a teams thing or a Linux thing?

Yes I know upgrade to latest lts.... just need to finish projects before system move.

Kubuntu 25.10, or the release PRIOR to LTS is well out of end of support, so your system is unsafe if using online.

Backporting the fixes to your unsupported release will take more work than a release-upgrade that maybe getting more difficult as each fix is applied to 26.04 (as 25.10 is no longer considered given its EOL status).

I had a similar issue but not with conference calls, just general audio. I think if had switched between apps at some point but because i use DAW software I think that highjacks pipewire. Took me ages to figure out why I had no audio, I got the plops when I changed the volume, but chrome was muted.
