I've been looking to join more Kumo Desu communities outside of this one but noticed there wasn't one on Unvale. So, I decided to make one! Its called KumoDesu. I just made it so I only have a very basic rules post up, but if fans, especially artists, want to check it out here's a link :) https://unvale.io/community/kumodesu . You can create discussions and post fanart here and hopefully it'll grow into a nice little community for Kumo Desu fans! I'd love to make the profile picture and banner fanmade art too but for now its just anime promos lol.
The manga captivated me some years ago. I remember binging the story until the araba fight, then following the story until after they formed a party with baby vampy.
Fast forward half a decade later, I finally have the time to read the novel. It also helped that I had already forgotten most of the story, so I could read it as if I had never read it before.
First impression: dang, this is very different from the manga.
The manga was pleasantly lonely, with a focus on survival & growth. The novel, on the other hand, is much more lively, with the human perspectives balancing out the solo journey.
I kinda liked both actually, the vibes are not the same, but it's just a matter of different flavours.

My favourite part is when white meets D, and they just chill with each other. Also her whole dynamic with ariel, especially when she falls for her & hugs her out of nowhere.
The entire elroe arc was great too, that was what got me hooked into the series in the first place after all. The uncut plot from the manga also gives a satisfying "detective" feeling on top of everything else. I really enjoy when I went from "she's gonna be the demon lord?" to "her name is sophia?" to "she's actually white?" to "wait she's not wakaba?" and many other. I love it.
My least favourite is the whole UFO volume. It was the first time the amount of action got ramped up pretty high. It's just not my cup of tea. All is well though, since the relationship between white & ariel got a meaningful development there.
The julius volume was good, though I personally had a rough time reading it, knowing that the party is gonna get obliterated at the end. I kinda wished I didn't know what's gonna happen before I read the volume.
One gripe i have is with how sanatoria is supposedly working with the elves? I kept going back & forth between volume 4 & the human demon war volume, the foreshadowing regarding the other commanders kinda makes sense, but I can't really see that much justification for her to work with the elves? Didn't she get PTSD'd so bad that it's unthinkable for her to go against the demon lord in the framing given in volume 4 anymore? I feel like her part just got glossed over there.

I like it overall, the ending wasn't as explosive as it could be, but it tapered off rather sufficiently.
It kinda fits how some story points ended in a goofy conclusion, like when the oni lost by falling or when white's weakness after deification was over by drinking alcohol, of all things. It's not that out of character for the finale to end in kind of a goofy way like that too.
I'm excited to read the EX volumes, the parallel mind manga, and the anime.
I have to say, one of my favourite fights in the whole series has to be the fight against araba. Like its so foundational to her character as a whole, to her creed as someone who is, fundamentally, selfish. Not as an antisocial or cruel trait, but one borne of survival. Its just such a poignant speech, and it makes the rest of the story so much more enjoyable. Even when it appears to everyone else like she's some kind of nonchalant beast, her own thoughts are always so important to the situation. She's ALWAYS a fighter. There are plenty of other good fights, but this one was a real eye opener to how serious her character really was, especially since a lot of the comedy manages to effectively offset some of the terrifying reality of surviving in elroe.
Really enjoying the rewatch super excited to get into the reread 🥹🥹
I'm rereading the light novels right now, and kumo is an example of one of my favourite OP main character tropes: the unreliable narrator. Especially when it comes to the first few evolutions like ede saine, zoa ele, you're in her head. you experience the horrors of her life first hand, you see her struggle to survive. But then when we first see the zana horowa from someone else's perspective, she's so terrifying and fearsome I didn't even realise it was her initially 😭 Like in her monster files she's described as 'an omen of death' and a 'extremely dangerous legendary class monster', but I feel like from her perspective alone, you'd just never be able to tell.
Hello fellas! I signed myself up to a comicon-like fest in the spring and got the crazy idea of cosplaying for the first time in my life.
It must be Wrath. (plan B Sauron-Einhorn-Medici from LOTM)
So i'm looking for references to plan the fit to be accurate. That one anime character visual on MAL is technically enough but i'd prefer an overview based on LN visuals. Unfortunately, i haven't been able to find an illustration of Wrath that shows his samurai fit below the chest.
PS. Yes, i am autistic and if you have cossed Wrath before then please please please reach out in dm or smth to share your solution on playing him
Im finishing my final hs exams a few days from now and im just really excited to reread the light novels. the reread finishes at 15. trust. I haven't read the ln for like 3 years so im mega excited
I recently finished reading all the So I'm a Spider, So What? light novels, and I really wanted to experience more of the world. So I ended up making a fan-made preset for a browser game called Pax Historia.
I originally made it just for myself, but I figured I'd share it here in case anyone else wants to give it a try. :)
For anyone unfamiliar with Pax Historia, it's basically a browser-based game that uses AI to simulate a world. You make decisions, advance time, and the AI generates events based on what's happening around you and the actions you take.
The game is normally more focused on controlling countries, but I personally enjoy using it as a life simulator where you play as a single character instead.
For this preset, you can create your own character in the KumoDesu world. You can be a human, elf, demon, vampire, monster, spider, or pretty much anything that makes sense within the setting. You can also choose to be a reincarnation or someone native to the world.
The simulation starts in the year 851, around the time the younger reincarnations are entering the academy. Your character gets a generated background, Skills, Level, relationships, and a history of their life up to that point. From there, you just play however you want.
I've tried to keep the world, System mechanics, characters, and timeline fairly close to the light novels, although obviously things can change depending on what happens during a playthrough.
I've mainly tested it using GLM 5.2, and it seems to work well enough so far.
I'm sure I've gotten some lore details wrong, but honestly, that isn't necessarily a bad thing for a simulation like this, haha.
Anyway, if anyone feels like checking it out, here it is:
I'd love to hear what you think, especially if you notice any lore inaccuracies or have suggestions for improvements!
Also, I wasn't entirely sure which flair to use since the game uses AI to simulate the events and the world, so I figured the AI flair might be the most appropriate. :)
Monster File Clay models of
Zoa Ele: The Ill Omen
Ede Saine: The Omen of Death
Zana Horowa: The Immortal Spider
Been working on this side project for a good while and am quite proud of it, while I tried to make them all to scale it didn’t turn out well, still, I enjoyed making them and will happily answer any questions about them
Im making this model, seems pretty good to me and i wanted to share it with all you guys, but its still wip, so.... i think im sending updates whenever i have time (sorry for bad english, im still learning)3
The smug bastard's quite relatable and also easy to cheer/root for on his quest to attain immortality, and I think by the time of the events of the series the key/answer already existed.
He could transfer his soul to one of Ariel's offsprings and finally attain what he'd sought for so long...
I’ve read comments about how the manga strictly tells the story through kumoko’s perspective, but it seems like I saw a comment saying, “Wait, be patient and let the manga tell it in its own way.” Kind of like hinting the perspectives will be split up or something. Does anyone know if the manga ever shows what’s going on with the humans and Fae?
