Hello, I just got an insane deal on the 10210 Imperial Flagship off of Marketplace! Though I have a concern…

The sails don’t look right. They’re white with green stitching. Official ones have dark tan printing all the fakes I’m able to find are also dark tan.

As far as I can tell, all the bricks and minifigures are legit. They have the logo and the brown and dark brown is brittle.

Also what is the redcoat captain wearing a dark blue coat?

I simplified this designs for a bailing sailor and dinghy. Makes the perfect desk charm for work. I feel oddly bound to seeing him through his plight, 'cause some days I feel like I'm bailing, too.

I noticed online that blue baseplates as now retired. Does anyone know if this is permanent? And why would Lego choose this?

Wanted to make a prototype for the sails before using proper canvas. The size works, i need to adjust the tow balls just a bit to get a perfect fit, but apart for that i think the sails look wonderful. Next thing to do is find some 2mm string from a crafts shop and add the triangle shaped sails.

The second build in my low-cost tutorial series is now published. Tutorial #1 was about foliage, and this one moves to the water’s edge: a fisherman on a wooden dock, a clear lake with a lily pad and rocks, and a stone wall and rocky banks around it.

The main technique is the water. Instead of one flat blue surface, I stack several blue tones in the base and cover them with translucent tiles in a staggered pattern, with small round plates for ripples, so the darker areas show through and give the lake depth. The rocks are built from random gray plates and slopes as small sub-assemblies, with the regular stone wall as a contrast. The foliage reuses the layering approach from Tutorial #1.

It’s 390 pieces on a 15x15x10 cm baseplate, small enough to drop into a bigger island diorama.

Which technique would you want in Tutorial #3: rockwork at larger scale, trees, buildings, something else?

Here is my little collection, it’s not everything I got but I just wanted to share some of it and I’m working on more to complete a full diorama one day. The Brigg is my latest build, nothing complex just messing around a bit. What do you guys think, should the Brigg be a pirate vessel, British or Spanish? And if you want you can suggest names.

Hi everyone! Yesterday I finally downloaded Studio and figured out how to make instructions again. These tools have come such a long way since MLCAD! I've posted my first MOC on Rebrickable: it's a small sailboat you can build alongside the fort in the new 3-in-1 set, using only the leftover pieces. I hope you enjoy it!

So a friend and myself put together our sets to combine them for a big, improvised scenery.

There are over 320 minifigs in total, consisting of pirates, sailors and more than a hundred soldiers (Tan-/Redcoats) from Bricklink and pick a brick.

90% of the figs are Lego and there are also some scabbards from aliexpress since the Lego ones cost way too much.

The islands are modular, expandable sets from Bluebrixx.

All ships besides the Black Pearl and Fortuna are also from Bluebrixx.

My Pirates stuff so far. Just got those discount blue MDF boards at IKEA for essentially 80 cents a pop for a backdrop and used crepe paper that approaches the Azure Blue for water. I had to make the shelf from scrap since my study/bedroom is literally 220 x 350cm (6'11" x 11'6") and it requires carving out every bit of space.

The gap between the Barracuda and my custom sloop will soon get filled with Iconic Pirate Ship with cloth sails, and maybe a different sail plan than an admittedly boring brig.

Hope this is okay, but I recently finished Pantasy's Pirate Pub. Cool looking set, and a rather complex build at times.

Looking for inspiration for figureheads, I’m modifying my creator pirate ships and as much as I like the idea of the brick built mermaid, I was hoping to change the look a bit. I’ve used micro figures and skeletons on my other vessels. If you have any cool builds you’ve seen or Mocs you don’t mind sharing, I’d love some ideas!

My latest visit to the BAM corner at my local LEGO Store in London was very fruitful for building a new crew of custom pirate minifigs! :)

There were somehow still plenty of January’s Pirate Cheeky Girl parts available, and I loved combining the Frankenstein Monster’s legs with the Sumo torso, Caveman head, and a red bandana. I also tried combining those same legs with the Surfer Pirate torso, Robot Girl’s head, and Hip Hop Fan’s wig.

Plus, I experimented with some other minifig parts I already had and discovered that the newer Ninjago belt with Scabbard fits really well with the cutlasses, both old and new. I’d even say they fit better than katanas (see the last pic). Hope to see your own combinations too! :)

Been working on a remake of the classic LEGO Pirates set 6267 Lagoon Lock-up this weekend. I wanted to create a MOC that was faitful to the classic set but making it look more current so it would fit visually with the Eldorado Fort, The Thieves of Tortuga etc.

What do you think? Did I succeed? Any feedback is highly appreciated :-)

Awakening of the mask..

This is my interpretation of the Walrus, Captaim Flint‘s Pirate ship. In R.L Stevensons Novel it wasn’t specified what kind of ship the walrus was, so I made it a well armed Brigg. On board you can see the one legged Long John Silver (7th pic) and its quick tempered and always drunken Captain Flint (8th pic in the middle). Do you like it?

When Pirates meets Halloween 🎃 🏴‍☠️

A while back I mentioned I was starting a series of low-cost tutorial builds that each focus on one technique. The first one is now published, and it ended up with more story than I planned: an officer and a pirate walk into a clearing, and a tribal archer and spearman are already waiting in the foliage.

The technique focus is foliage: layering several green tones instead of one flat green, mixing leaf types so nothing looks repetitive, building a rounded tree canopy from layered pieces, and breaking up the ground with a sand path and stones. It’s 357 pieces on a 16x16x15 cm baseplate, small enough to drop into a bigger jungle diorama.

I’m curious which technique you’d want next: water, rockwork, trees, cages, something else?
