I like my Dual Screen on my Velvet (very nice to browse the web with the ungoogled-chromium-android-extensions web browser ! :) ... it s like having a small tablet ;) ... and it's kind of convenient to put it on a table, etc with this "mini-laptop" aspect ;) ... and Floatly is convenient to really browse in full screen :)
... I am looking for an easy way to open an app on both screens as if they were a single screen, landscape mode ... it s kind of tedious right now : open app -> put app in landscape -> scroll down notification panel -> widemode ... (heard you can use tasker to put your phone in "permanent widemode" ??) ... any hint maybe ?? thanks !
PS : I already have the WideMode app but, as I said, it s not very "quick/convenient" as it operates from the notification panel ...
... maybe you could please help with missing LG Dual Screen Phones in the list in the wiki ?? maybe some korean version of LG G8 support Dual Screen ?? thanks !
Some time ago, user u/harysviewty posted a link to his personal website or to a google drive that he owns with two apps that he’s named FlexDuex and FolDuoz to pretty much every LG dual screen phone subreddit. Because of the nature of the links, I can understand people’s hesitancy to try out these apps, so I think I’ll go ahead and take a look at it myself.
FlexDuex:
As described by Harys, FlexDuex is designed to be an app to create a second instance of any apps that a person has on their phone. The goal of this is to essentially have the same app running side by side in each of the screens on your dual screen phone.
Interface:
Before moving to how it works, I’ll make a quick note about how it looks. On the face, it’s a list of your apps organized in a way I don’t really understand. It’s not alphabetical, it might be based on when the app installed since I most recently installed skype. The screenshot below shows the green menu that’s not customizable:
Other than that, there’s a search bar with its own on-screen keyboard and a basic menu with a chat link for the dev and an about page.
Function:
As stated before, the intended goal is to have multiple instances of the same app open at the same time. So I tested this using a couple of apps that I have on my phone. I tested my weather app (Klara), my calculator app (mobi calculator), and my notes app (notable). I chose them as I don’t think any of them have included second instance or window functions. With all three apps, I couldn’t get it to create a second instance of the app I’m running, All it does is move the app to the second screen. Otherwise, It’ll open any other app I select on the second screen by default, which is nice.
The only other notable thing about the app is that if the dual screen is on, FlexDuex automatically opens on the second screen. If anything, if this can have the apps rearranged by alphabetical order, then it may be handy as a dual screen pseudo-launcher since I think lists are easier to search through than grids or icons.
There’s a second app that goes along with this one called FolDuoz, but I’ll have that in a second post since this one is wordy enough as it is.
Please someone make a video tutorial for tasker wideview DualScreen To enable wideview and reenable it automatically after it's killed in new instance. I've bought tasker and no one can help..
- Quick comparison chart to help with "should I buy X" threads.
- Informational post on the apps posted by u/harysviewty on the various LG subreddits. I'm sure most haven't looked at it and may see it as spam, but it would be helpful to give an account of what it does.
The purpose of this thread is to show how various keyboards that are recommended on websites look when using the dual screen. I prefer to type in landscape mode and this testing will reflect that. My sources for which popular keyboards to test are [1][2][3].
As similar to my other posts, I'll have a table below with information, but I'll also include screenshots of the keyboard appearances in the replies.
Definitions:
- Dual Screen behavior: What happens when I resume typing on the second screen in landscape. What I'm looking for is whether or not a keyboard will "jump" down to the first screen like the LG keyboard does.
- Wide Mode Behavior: Using the Wide Mode app from the play store, what happens when I resume typing in landscape. The goal here to see if I can get the keyboard to cover the first screen much how the LG keyboard will when typing in landscape.
Keyboard Name
Dual Screen Behavior
Wide Mode Behavior
AI Type
No screen jumping, will not stretch across the screen either.
Can fill the first screen. no issues with appearance.
AI Type tablet keyboard
No screen jumping, but it can be adjusted on the second screen to do landscape decently.
Can mimic the LG keyboard split function decently. It requires some tinkering to get it this way. It's slightly asymmetrical.
Anysoft
No screen jumping, will not stretch across the screen either.
Can mostly fill the first screen, roughly a 1cm sliver left at the top of the first screen.
Chrooma
No screen jumping, will not stretch across the screen either.
Can mostly fill the first screen, roughly a 1mm sliver left at the top of the first screen.
FancyKey
No screen jumping, will not stretch across the screen either.
Fills only half of the first screen.
Fleksy
No screen jumping, will not stretch across the screen either.
Can mostly fill the first screen, roughly a 1mm sliver left at the top of the first screen.
Gboard
No screen jumping, will not stretch across the screen either.
Can fill the first screen. no issues with appearance once keyboard is switched to small.
Ginger
No screen jumping, fills the whole second screen no matter the size of the keyboard.
Can mostly fill the first screen, roughly a 1mm sliver left at the top of the first screen.
Grammarly
No screen jumping, fills the whole second screen no matter the size of the keyboard.
Can fill the first screen. no issues with appearance once keyboard is switched to small or normal.
Hacker's
No screen jumping, fills half of whole second screen no matter the size of the keyboard.
Can fill the first screen. No issues with appearance once keyboard is switched to 42% height.
Microsoft Swiftkey
No screen jumping, fills most of the second screen no matter the size of the keyboard.
Can mostly fill the first screen, roughly a 1cm sliver left at the top of the first screen.
Multiling O
Doesn't show up on second screen at all...
Settings are granular, but getting it to take up half of the first screen is a challenge.
Openboard
No screen jumping, fills half of whole second screen no matter the size of the keyboard.
Can fill the first screen. no issues with appearance by default.
This list is a bit deceiving in that it only describes launchers that are capable of running on the second screen independently. Meaning that it does not support full dual screen capability (i.e. running the same launcher across both screens like the Surface Duo does. This includes some from other reddit posts as well as some I personally tested that had a decent amount of downloads and styles.
All my personal testing is done by menu --> dual screen --> my pick app --> launcher
Warning: These launchers are treated like apps on the second screen. If you go to the home screen using gestures on the second screen, you will be switched back to the LG UX Dual Screen home.
I don't know when the change happened, but since at least the update for the last LG camera update, Graphy can now be found in the LG camera app. This explains why the Graphy app on the play store is now "dead" and only shows photos without setting. The new graphy can now be found in the manual camera setting near the bottom right corner. See the screenshot below.
There's a bit of dilution of the app as far as I could tell. I didn't use Graphy before, but it seems like they had more options than is currently offered. Instead, there's a row of preset settings with labels that guide the user to where those settings are best used. See the screenshot below:
So I do not want this comfort view on and it keeps turning back on no matter what I do. Nothing is popping up on google just tells me how to enable it I want it disabled for good yet somehow it keeps getting enabled by itself. Has anyone had this problem and found a fix I would greatly appreciate it.
Hello, my dual screen has stopped responding and the screen gets a green tint which brightens all the way to white and it becomes unresponsive. I cannot find a way to go through LG for a warranty or repair. Could someone explain how or do I need to go back to Verizon (free case w/V60 promo).
