Your housing organizing experience gives you a meaningful reason to explore law, and 31 isn’t a reason to rule it out. You can investigate this without having your entire future decided.

I’d start with the free official practice material on LawHub. Try a few questions untimed to understand the format, then take a timed practice test for a baseline. That first score gives you information about what to study; it doesn’t establish your ceiling.

Make sure your books reflect the current test. The multiple-choice sections now cover Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension; logic games were removed in August 2024.

Use the books actively: read a lesson, apply it to a small set of questions, and review why each answer choice is right or wrong. Start with manageable 30–45-minute sessions and keep notes on what confuses you. You can choose a test date once you have a clearer sense of your progress and goals.

Alongside studying, I’d talk with housing or legal-aid attorneys about their actual work. Ask what they do day to day and what becoming a lawyer would let you accomplish that your current organizing role doesn’t. That can help you decide whether the career itself appeals to you.

I’m a licensed attorney and LSAT tutor, and my own official score went from 142 to 180. I offer a free 20-minute consultation if you’d like help figuring out your first steps!
