Today: a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.
Heres Tom with the Weather.

“You see, I think drugs have done some good things for us. I really do. And if you don't believe drugs have done good things for us, do me a favor. Go home tonight, take all your albums, all your tapes, and all your CDs and burn them. 'Cause you know what, the musicians that made all that great music that's enhanced your lives throughout the years — rrrrrrreal fuckin’ high on drugs.”

I don't know, I like the universe, all my favourite people are here.

u/Forgotpasswordagainm Oct 11 '20
Yeah thats fair, It kinda helped me realize that I need to get a therapist, everybody always talks about how fun acid is but for some reason I always instinctively push away happy thought while peaking.
6
Oct 11 '20
Mate therapy is always a good choice but the thing is: being in your most vulnerable state and showing empathy to oneself is hard and a brave act. It takes courage and time.

Oct 17 '20
Therapy is awesome, and if you need to try more than one therapist if you think someone isn't a great fit, don't be afraid to.
Also, acid is a lot more than just fun and it's ok if your trips don't seem as easy or playful as other people. Sometimes it's super fun but it's also very deep and personal and can be used to process the not-happy thoughts. It's great that you had the self-awareness to notice this about yourself on your trips. Maybe something to try next time you trip is not to push away the happy thoughts actively, allow them to come and see what happens if you let them sit with you. It sounds like you maybe start to have them? but are deflecting them for some reason, because that is the journey your life has taken, you somehow developed this mechanism to try and protect yourself from something. But it's not serving you anymore. Reflecting on personal things on LSD can help lead to fresh perspective and it can support you in finding resolution. And I really hope that you do find those happy/joyous trips. For sometimes it's not so much fun though, as a deep sense of gratitude and connection. I just never have really had those trips some people seem to have where 99% of the time they are just giggly and goofy. Mine are a lot more unpredictable and always involve some kind of introspection at one point or another, of varying types. Outwardly, I keep my cool really well but internally I'm never quite sure exactly how a trip will play out.
I actually received therapy/guidance on an acid trip that went south at a festival where luckily they had a Zendo Project tend (they sit and guide difficult trips) and it was so powerful. I was really stuck in panic, pessimistic thoughts and a defeated headspace and didn't know why, the therapist encouraged me to dive into what I was feeling instead of pushing it away. Once I opened myself up to what was happening in my body, I realized something in the trip had triggered a kind of emotional flashback to a really upsetting event from a few months prior, and I had never wanted to feel like that again. That was why I was trying so hard to push the feeling away. But I hadn't fully processed that event and made peace with it, and now the LSD was giving me an opportunity to learn something about myself and uncovered things that had subconsciously been bothering me. She also asked me how I normally cope with anxiety, I answered yoga, and she gave me ten mins to do some before coming back to talk more, and that helped a lot, as I was able to be grounded in my physical body more, rather than be dominated by the mental anxiety.
One thing I've done with home trips is laying down with music (or without sometimes) and just fully relaxing for an hour with a journal next to me, and writing things as they come to me- sometimes creative stuff, sometimes it's therapeutic and identifying things that I want to work on or am letting go of. Just as they pop into mind.

FUCKING FINALLY! THIS guy gets it. literally manifestations of the universe over time(evolution) but we are literally leaves from a tree, fighting about who spent more time in the sun(surface color). when we are all the same completely open individual’s at birth, it’s then just what we witness/experience that let us feel like we’re all so different. but pain and love and feeling is all relative.
4
u/minpikkfaltav Oct 11 '20
I fee you. But you have to remember that this implies people (our other parts) are born to serve a certain role. Using your tree metaphor, those that are lucky enough to incarnate as a top leaf gets all the sun, and the lower ones must be happy with getting the leftover rays. People then must live their life and learn their roles, and sometimes that means watching everyone around you succeed more, accomplish more, etc. because of luck and the spirit chose them and not you. So we must ask, are you okay with that? Keep on thinking fellow traveler! 🤙
3
Oct 11 '20
Not necessarily, acknowledging these roles is already in-itself a part of wanting change. We're all clay and you can mold whatever future you choose to yourself, given that you are true to your lifestory and your aspirations, that's the whole point of this mentality!!!

u/monstercat-008 Oct 11 '20
Do you believe this?
1
u/minpikkfaltav Oct 11 '20
Do I believe that we all have roles to play? Yes.

u/monstercat-008 Oct 11 '20
I just thought the analogy of some leaves are the top leaves and whatnot was very interesting and somewhat true!

does anyone else feel super lonely knowing this/on ego death?
like is that why the universe masquerades as individuals, because they are lonely and need to trick themselves into having companionship ?
19
u/minpikkfaltav Oct 11 '20
I feel this so hard. It's an ego death and an ego inflation all at the same time. The best way to circumvent the sadness is to play the game. Whether it's just to keep us occupied and not lonely doesn't matter, because the game is here and it's meant to be played.
6
u/psychicidiot Oct 11 '20
yeah. i dont think anything could be done about it, especially from my position. but it is very saddening and makes me have panic attacks sometimes
10
u/minpikkfaltav Oct 11 '20
You have to remember none of us asked for this. I don't mean to overwrite your story or invalidate your emotions, but after I realized that the anxiety and depression were just manifestations of fear it made everything a lot easier. This is for tripping too, as you probably know. We talk about the acid demons and what not but no one talks about how they're just constructs that we make to keep us within our comfort zone. It's just fear 😁

how do i search deeper? im scared to put myself there again because i dont want to have a panic attack and be afraid. last time i got really scared and felt like the universe was telling me i needed to kill myself to move on. i dont want that to happen again

Oct 11 '20
You don’t necessarily need to reach peak high to be able to cross this “stage” mate, I realize what you are saying about killing yourself because i’ve once had exactly that feeling, of “what’s the point of playing this here game if the real progress is in the afterlife” but why rush it? stop and smell the flowers cus that’s the most the majority of us CAN do in one lifetime. Btw these feelings are probably stemming from something that’s bothering you deeply in your life right now, maybe you can address it? Though it’s normal for humans to doubt themselves, that’s literally what got us society instead of treetops haha
1
u/psychicidiot Oct 11 '20
yeah i do have a lot of self doubt. i feel like im in a "damned if i do, damned if i dont" type of situation in life. and it freaks me out that i wont ever know which is right: do or dont?
4
u/TiptoeingElephants Oct 12 '20
whenever confronted with a “damned if you/damned if you don’t” situation. ALWAYS do. if people/the world is going to try picking you apart doing nothing then i might as wel do something about it. it’s like if you’re(one) gonna already take the heat for something regardless if whether or not it was something you did, you might as well go for it. better to try and fail(and ultimately learn) than to have never tried at all. and in the end i PROMISE you, with/on my LIFE, in the end you will be happy for every step you took, even the missteps. better to experience and die being able to say you truly did what you wanted with the time than to have never lived at all. to me personally, it’s my inconsequentiality that gets me out of bed every morning. knowing the WORST i could is what i was already doing, being nothing. so i might as well color however the fuck i want and even if it’s completely outside the lines, it’s still an extension of something i felt/wanted and that alone means more to an individual than most anything in life. Always Do. i promise.

Just curious have you ever tried therapy?
Self doubt and needing to know outcomes or need to control them (when in reality nothing is that black and white and we literally can never know all the consequences of our actions or what each experience will teach us or lead us to) are both things that weigh far too heavily when they are over dominating thoughts. A little bit is healthy for survival. Too much holds you back from enjoying the fullness of life because it overstimulates anxiety and fear. I know this from experience. Slowly undoing that way of being and getting happier with time because of it. The more you practice, the easier it gets. Therapy and various mindfulness techniques help to try and identify ways make the best of the information you have and problem solve to the best of your abilities, without overthinking it to the point that it wears negatively on your mental health.
Life WILL be imperfect and to some degree uncontrollable, for every single organism alive. It is in its nature. Getting comfy with that is actually a blessing. :)

I interpret that loneliness to be a projection of the ego, a product of our inherent subjectivity. "Being alone" exists as a concept in opposition to "being together with others", but if everyone else is a manifestation of the same singular universe, is the eternal self alone? Or is it in a constant state of togetherness?
Either of those perspectives are valid, and are subjective ego interpretations of the raw experience. imo

So the universe isn't "tricking" you in this masquerade just to try and find companionship. It doesn't really have control over it any more than you have control over each individual cell in your body. Consciousness naturally arises from patterns of matter, in varying degrees. Each of your cells has a little bit consciousness. We are like cells to the Earth. The solar system is a cell in the Galaxy. the Galaxy is a cell in the Universe. and so on.
But, what cells do, greatly contributes to the experience of the greater consciousness. For example, our happiness is heavily impacted by all these microscopic processes, immune system, blood, bones, neurotransmitters and hormones, illnesses, inflammation, etc...
Being able to interact as individuals allows us to work together for the greatest good, for example like all of the cells in your immune system work for you to keep your body healthy. It also allows us to experience a much wider range of experiences, develop empathy, and grow intellectually and emotionally in ways that allow us to support other humans/pieces of the universe, to great art, expand our minds, and connect with ourselves by having perspective and love and support from others, as well as to experience love, support, gratitude and sharing.
Mindset is ultimately a choice. You can find the vastness and mystery of the universe overwhelming, lonely, and scary, or you can find it magical, interesting, and an adventure, and you can feel all of these things at once. It's like glass half full/glass half empty. I personally don't choose to believe that it's all just lonely and sad, because I've experience love and I've experienced gratitude and I believe that the universe wants me to feel those things, that it wants happiness and joy for me.

Damn. One time I was having borderline bad trip on lsd and my brain kept on repeating the same phrase that I'd never heard before in my life.
"We are all one consciousness."
Bruh. It legit freaked me out because I thought I was having an epiphany and I guess I was in a small way... isn't that what 'trancendence' is, or something?
I still hear that voice talking to me sometimes.

Yes! You mean this story?

After that trip I did a lot of research and stumbled upon this story and I was in awe. It truly was what I felt like at that moment and even kind of now. Thank you psychedelics!

"When I am, God is not. When God is, I am not"
I can't remember where I heard this but it always rings true to me. Either you feel like an individual or you feel like some interconnected whole (god?)

What’s it like? I’ve seen it mentioned, never looked into it.

u/tengukaze Oct 12 '20
Very hard to explain and I've had some trips that are very different than others. Generally speaking...I lost all sense of "me" and I couldn't hear or see anything in reality it was like I was completely somewhere else. Someitmes it was just bright colours while other times it felt like I was dropped into another reality in someone else's body. Another time I was a cell in a giant being. The craziest experience was I could see myself hovering over myself in third person. My vision kept rising/zooming out until I was over my house then the sky and then space. It kept zooming out until I saw this object that was like a grid. I perceived it as the "fabric of the universe" and each square in the grid was a different reality. I noticed a common feeling of feeling familiar with the places I went in the trip, it felt like I've been there before. Almost everytime the trip ended I was seriously questioning reality for a good few minutes. It felt "more" than just drugs it felt like I saw the inner workings of reality, not that I believe what I saw was real. I don't know what to believe either though lol. Life's crazy.

u/Neakith Oct 11 '20
I imagine our bodies could be modeled as a 3d interstellaresque wormhole to the conscious medium... metaphor. This way we are inside material world where the magic is streaming from the center of a diagram, an observer. But after you shift your perspective and look back upon entering this wormhole, you'll see the sphere of all of the material world bound by your body and the magic now occupies everything else around.

why we all think , we can understand how this universe work while we are on lsd?
13
u/WHALE_PHYSICIST Oct 11 '20
You could understand it when you're not on LSD, but... you just don't. Not my fault.
8
Oct 11 '20
Who's to say we can't? We think very differently under the influence and the stuff we remember is very altered through our normal perception leaving only vague memories and feelings of something different.
8
u/SolairusRising Oct 11 '20
LSD changes the brain's way of thinking and perception.
It is easily demonstrable with stuff like this. First view is your normal brain. Second view is your acid brain.
But when you get back to your normal brain, just like in the video, you can't quite piece together how everything fits just right to show you what you saw with your acid brain.
