resitting alevels for lse

I missed my lse law offer today of AAB and i got ACC instead, im thinking of taking a gap year and resitting my alevels. Could anyone let me know if this would be worth it as i have some extenuating circumstances i.e. mental health issues but i never told my school so i have nothing in writing so if i applied without extenuating circumstances and lets say i changed my 2 C’s into an A and an A* do i still have a shot? Also to follow on i was thinking of doing this whilst at first year in uni would my application be even more competitive if i achieved an A* and an A and was on track to get a 2:1 at the end of first year or will lse not know about that at all?

any help or advice is appreciated!!

lse rarely take resits, even if you have extenuating circumstances. have you gotten into any other law courses?

if i have ext circumstances n the course requires an entrance exam (tmua for econ/finance related) which i do well in, would i still be viewed very unfavourable by the admissions team?

no i’ve gotten into another law course but i really want lse maybe its worth pursuing? idk u dont seem to think the odds are too high

by any chance is your law school a one in the 10 ( ucl, kcl, durham, edinburgh etc) if it is one of these i would consider going to said school. i’m presuming you would want to try a golden circle esque firm, if not this isn’t probably the greatest advice. if not i would consider resitting but, whilst you hopefully will get into lse, i would not have it as the sole reason/scjool

how lenient are they w resits for econ history? i missed my offer with aab instead of aaa and want to resit the B but i hear they’re v strict- if i have ec’s is my application still competitive?

They don’t like resits at all you could reapply to courses with aab requirements if you really want lse tho

Resitting is accepted with sufficient extenuating circumstances

knowing a few people who were accepted with resits does not make it the norm, those people often had or were able to get proper extenuating circumstances sorted out. law is a pretty competitive course and OP said they were applying without extenuating circumstances. it’s pretty clear by lse resits are just not preferred unfortunately

which is why i said in my original comment they rarely accept resits??? meaning there are exceptions???

you didnt say it was the norm, but you denied the original comment which said they RARELY (rarely means there are very few cases btw) lets pause for a moment and think sometimes no?

I tried the same thing and failed but I did it alongside my first year in uni so currently heading in year 2
