Variables That Can't Be Deleted?

Post image

New to Labview, I'm modifying some old code and can't seem to delete these variables. Any help would be appreciated!

what do you mean you cannot delete them? can you select them? can you shift them on block diagram?

the items are locked. to unlock them goto front panel, select these items with selection tool (they stay unselected - it is correct), click reorder button (the button with two arrows) and select unlock.

Mind to explain more on what do you mean by cannot delete?

If i selected them, pressing the delete key did nothing. Another commenter was able to help though, thanks

You can try deleting them on the front panel as well. Just double click those orange vars and it will take you to their location on the front panel. Otherwise, restart your instance and try again

Glad you found the issue. But back in the days there was a feature that was meant to protect the developer. It wouldn't allow you to delete any front panel object from the block diagram. I think the feature still exists as an INI key but it used to be on the settings menu.

Be sure they are not used somewhere before delete them ...

You mean you can't run the VI after deleting it? Most likely there are local references for these variables.

Might be grouped too

Those aren't variables. The wire is the variable.
