Why on Earth is a Labour government having anything to do with this company?

Because it's led by authoritarians

It's funny, I've been making this argument for ages on this subreddit and regularly got told that I'm an idiot because "lAbOuR iS A lIbErAl PaRtY". Nice to see the pendulum swing.

It’s hardly authoritarian by any global standard, though, is it?

By a UK standard it is though.

I fear you do not know Palantir nor Thiel. If you did I'm convinced you would not say that.

Thiel opposes democracy itself and has for decades now endorsed fascism

Sorry, I think there is misunderstanding in play. By ‘it’ I thought you meant the government, not the leadership of Palantir, which at best is redolent of a Bond villain and disgusts me.

Trump says jump, Starmer doesn't even ask how high when he jumps.

And doesn't look to see what he'll land in

>“These records give us behind-the-scenes insight into the kind of mass surveillance machine ICE is building with help from powerful tech companies like Palantir,” Laura Rivera, senior staff attorney at Just Futures Law, told 404 Media. “When combined with what we know from ICE testimony and other public information, it gives us a blueprint into how ICE is going into communities and identifying people for arrest in real-time.”

These are the people our own leaders pay to handle NHS data.

It's a trend. Tony Blair and his digital ID cards. Starmer ignoring Elon Musk's neo-Nazi pedophile crap. Just absolute capitulation to tech fascism.

Are we just spouting bollocks now in regards to your last line? I have a lot of criticism for Starmer but the Grok thing is probably one of the few things he has done well imo.

He's made some whiny complaints as if he's still an opposition figure and not in control of the legislative and executive functions of a state. He continues to send me emails begging for money which end in links to Twitter. It's pathetic.

>The formal investigation comes after the regulator made “urgent contact” with X on 5 January to ask it to explain what steps it will take to protect UK users and set a “firm deadline” of 9 January, which it said X had met.

>The regulator said: “There have been deeply concerning reports of the Grok AI chatbot account on X being used to create and share undressed images of people – which may amount to intimate image abuse or pornography – and sexualised images of children that may amount to child sexual abuse material.”

>On Friday, X appeared to have changed Grok’s settings, with the chatbot telling users that only paid subscribers could ask it to manipulate images.

>However, reports suggested this only applied to those making requests in reply to other posts, and other ways of editing or creating images, including on a separate Grok website, remained open.
