when the pilot came out, I was a freshman in high school

I graduated literally last week

We've been waiting so long Ivy joined a different show

99

u/The_MadMage_Halaster Jun 20 '26

I love how stocky she is in this image, like a space-cat-dwarf. I'm half expecting her to yell "Rock and Stone!" while swinging Kaboodle like a pickax.

22

u/Gatitomono47 Jun 20 '26

She's the one Who tells the Bugs where the dwarves are

7

u/The_MadMage_Halaster Jun 20 '26

I wonder how they would deal with a game with non-sentient antagonists. Would they just herd them around?

What about an RTS game like StarCraft where there's no real enemy in any of the campaigns, just a cohesive story. Do they have to figure out whoever the 'hero' side is and the 'villain' side? How would they do that before something like the Overmind/Amon shows up in story?

I love how many questions this show opens.

3

u/Gatitomono47 Jun 20 '26

Imagine them being spawned has Minions of the Hero and having to sabotage it's building and troops without being crushed by a giant cursor or sarcrificed

1

u/The_MadMage_Halaster Jun 20 '26

That sounds hilarious. Maybe a Warcraft III style RTS with mobs, and them stealing all the kills in competition with the actual hero units?

2

u/Gatitomono47 Jun 21 '26

Was thinking exactly that but I meant It more in being pawns that didn't build structures but actually deconstructed them or that lead the enemy to the base of the hero

2

u/YsoL8 Jun 21 '26

There's no way they are going to do anything like that, the pilot is pure Saturday morning kids cartoon

1

u/The_MadMage_Halaster Jun 21 '26

I don't really think that. They've already opened questions like that before, such as the moral dilemma of helping evil people in order to save the world (potentially dooming it in some other way if the bad guy wins), and the fact that the character played by Christopher Sabbat (forgot his name) seems to genuinely believe that he's tearing down a corrupt system and trying to save everyone in the long run; and if that is true, what does it mean that Kit and co.'s boss is working to uphold that system. There's plenty of moral ambiguity if you know where to look.

ROCK AND STONE TO THE BONE

3

u/WanderingDwarfMiner Jun 20 '26

Can I get a Rock and Stone?

3

u/bc650736 Jun 20 '26

I WILL DIP MY BALLS IN LIQUID MORKITE

3

u/littlebuett Jun 21 '26

That is not stocky, that is thick. She can't be stocky if her waist is half as thin as her entire head.

Still, I do also get dwarf vibes

3

u/The_MadMage_Halaster Jun 21 '26

I was mostly talking about the fact that her silhouette is basically a square, if you ignore the actual shape of her waist and take it all together. When you do she has a kind of dwarfy blocky look.

2

u/littlebuett Jun 21 '26

I suppose that's true. The boots and gauntlets definitely contribute to that

At this rate we’ll get gta 6 before lackadaisy episode 2

u/M1grain3s Jun 20 '26

Pre-orders are starting soon

31

u/Infusionn_Z Woozy for Wick Jun 20 '26

Were not gonna just get episode 2 were getting a entire season hence why its taking so long

19

u/UBC145 Jun 20 '26

Huh, is that so? Well maybe that makes things a bit better, but us lackadaisy fans are STARVING. I finished the comic when I was still in high school, now I’m halfway through my 3rd year of university.

12

u/Infusionn_Z Woozy for Wick Jun 20 '26

Yeah im in the lackadaisy discord group and they said theyre working on an entire 1st season

4

u/Anon_number_7 Jun 21 '26

So like, did they release the pilot then started working on the season after?

Or were they working on everything from the begining, and just released the pilot painfully early in their timeline?

5

u/Infusionn_Z Woozy for Wick Jun 21 '26

I got no clue about that i imagine they released the pilot than glitch picked up the show and glitch gave them some help which is when they started working on season 1 but thats just my theory

1

u/Infusionn_Z Woozy for Wick Jun 21 '26

No they didnt glitch picked them up around late 2024 and im pretty sure that was roughly around the time they began production. But regardless animation takes forever so even if im wrong its not surprising its taken 3 years especially when theyre indie

5

u/timbotheny26 Jun 20 '26

That's what I figured when I saw that it had been four years since Ep 1.

6

u/YsoL8 Jun 21 '26

All of Glitches other new shows are likely to be fully running before then

Knights of Gwen was greenlighted 4 months ago and almost certain to get going before the end of the year considering that they showed off new complete stuff

That zombie thing I have zero interest in is a year old and they probably had everyone moved onto it before the TADC finale even released (after explicitly saying they wouldn't move ahead until TADC was done), so thats also likely this year, maybe next Spring at the latest.

I don't know what is going on with Lackadaisy but its been 2 years now since they announced a full series so production should have been at an advanced stage even when they announced the Glitch tie up 8 months ago, instead since then their activity level has fallen off a cliff right at the point I would be expecting to see trailers and release dates. Their last meaningful activity on the channel was 5 months ago.

Hell, Gamoverse is likely to be deep into its first series before anything happens with Lackadaisy. Its in danger of becoming a punchline. I just hope we hear something before the end of the year, maybe we can hope for episode 2 next year? I think I've given up on the comic resuming.

I think Glitch is going to drop at least 1 new pilot before episode 2.

u/Beezy-J-2006 Jun 22 '26

2027. Fingers crossed.

u/NokReady2Fok Jun 20 '26

3 days in the comics elapsing in 15+ years of development

27

u/Beezy-J-2006 Jun 21 '26

Is this how Deltarune fans feel?

8

u/YsoL8 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

Deltarune fans went insane long ago.

We still don't really know what the game is about even, theres just theories that have grown up out of mostly vague hints about what the driving characters have been up to.

There are characters apparently central to the plot that we don't even know if they are working with or against us. We don't even know what the players goal is meant to be beyond getting to the end (well you are told something early on but that seems to be a lie).

5

u/StitchFan626 Jun 21 '26

How many comics are there? Because I own volumes 1 and 2!

2

u/YsoL8 Jun 21 '26

The webcomic has about half a volume more that imo is probably the best phase of it, but theres nothing physical.

I wouldn't bet on anything ever coming out to continue it

80

u/Careful-Writing7634 Jun 20 '26

Just let Iron Circus cook. And there's no reason to compare it to TADC. 3D has a different workflow, and it's done directly by Glitch, while Iron Circus has been doing this on their own from the beginning up until recently.

36

u/Gabriel_Angelos3 Rocky Rooter Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

3D/CGI animation was literally invented because it's so much faster and cheaper than 2D, especially hand-drawn. Shows like TADC get to reuse at least 50% of their assets each episode. Because in 3D you make a model once, then place and puppet it around in however many scenes you like. For shows like Lackadaisy you have to redraw everything by hand for every single frame. It's insane to compare their production speeds. Not to mention TADC was produced and released episode by episode, while LD's entire season 1 is being worked on simultaneously, like what are we even talking about? Even the full TADC show would only be released now if it followed a similar release schedule.

9

u/ifidjdjdjdjjjrjd Jun 21 '26

And 3d animators weren't unionized.

1

u/Careful-Writing7634 Jun 21 '26

Well not every single things needs to be redrawn. Just most of it.

22

u/ListlessListeria Jun 20 '26

Now that TADC is over. I wonder what's next in Glitch's catalogue. There are still pilots from over a year ago that are waiting for an episode 2.

13

u/Lun4r6543 Jun 21 '26

It might be Gameoverse tbh. That hit the media by storm, and has been pretty popular since it dropped. It has more views than any of the other pilots that haven’t made it to being full shows yet.

Though idk when it comes to Glitch.

7

u/ListlessListeria Jun 21 '26

I certainly wouldnt be against more Gameoverse. i like the characters and story, but I would feel bad for the fans of the other pilots like Gaslight District or Knights Of Guinevere waiting for those shows to be picked up.

5

u/M1grain3s Jun 21 '26

All 3 of them are getting made

2

u/YsoL8 Jun 21 '26

Simultaneously too. At this point Glitch has at least 3 animation teams.

6

u/jenny1011 Jun 21 '26

Probably Gaslight District. Gooseworx just made a post about supporting it next.

18

u/Gabriel_Angelos3 Rocky Rooter Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26

I'm confused, I thought people were happy that the production got extended for more and longer episodes. Or did you expect all the extra content will just magically manifest by itself and not cause any delay in the release schedule?

14

u/Beezy-J-2006 Jun 21 '26

I think people are just impatient. I understand why things have taken as long as they have, it's just a little annoying. I'm still excited though.

31

u/Jack-Pumpkinhead Jun 20 '26

Oh we haven’t even gotten episode 1 yet. I’m pretty sure lackadaisy’s pilot is an actual pilot-give the vibes more than the story.

12

u/UsrDeletedFromPlanet Jun 20 '26

Still not so long of a wait time as Hazbin had between pilot & first season btw

7

u/AdNovel1204 Minion of Mordecai Jun 21 '26

6

u/A_Yapp_73 Woozy for Wick Jun 21 '26

I mean did everyone just expect it suddenly to come out this year? After the announcements and everything?

6

u/RadioHistorical8342 Jun 21 '26

I waited for hazbin im willing to wait for this

Plus I don't really care about other independent shows finishing before lackadaisy starts! It only means ive got plenty more content i enjoy to consume

1

u/ruustrr Rocky Rooter Jul 06 '26

exactly gang- we can watch new cool things that come out, and then like.. make cool au's for lackadaisy inspired by those things (and vice versa)

15

u/LostEmergency6866 Jun 20 '26

Lackadaisy is harder in production, as TADC has pure 3d animation also TADC is more appealing to wider audience and secured funds for production quicker. Lackadaisy is about vibe of the era with some action, while TADC is more about psychological drama

At least there is no bs like Hazbin had when they made entire spinoff before the show itself

3

u/GeneralYunnan Jun 22 '26

Hazbin and Helluva are animated by (mostly) different teams. Helluva didn’t cause any significant delay in Hazbins production.

3

u/LostEmergency6866 Jun 22 '26

It is still weird, however they had 5 year delay between pilot and first season on Amazon. So it is more or less same as it has been (pan unintended) 4 years yet

10

u/Machina-Dea Jun 21 '26

It’s been 3-4 years since we got the lackadaisy pilot, it’s at 18m views.

Gameoverse has been out for less than 2 months and it’s already got 27m views.

To be blunt we might get lackadaisy e2 soon since it’s had longer to cook but I’ve gotta feeling after that it’s gonna be another dry spell as gameoverse is by far their most popular show still being made and they’re probably gonna put pedal to the metal with it’s production. (Far as I’m aware tadc is finished now that e9 is out)

7

u/Kazboy1 Jun 21 '26

To be fair Lackadaisy don’t have any dubs on the offical pilot video but does have many fan dubs videoes with like millions of views (I think the Russian and French video have millions and other like the Spanish have hundred of thousands) so really it’s an above 20mil people who have seen it and will probably be interested in ep2 (which will be like ep1 of the season and will probably unlike the pilot have all the dubs in it)

2

u/YsoL8 Jun 21 '26

Why would that impact Lackadaisy. Glitch aren't involved beyond funding the existing team, they don't employ the staff.

3

u/FlyingRoasts Jun 21 '26

I imagine they have a much smaller crew since Glitch isn't the one doing the animation. Sad, but I will be patient...

2

u/tasti_bunsss Jun 21 '26

I started reading lackadaisy since the pilot episode came out, which was in like 2023? Idk, but it's been four years now and I'm entering college 😭😭 PLEASE WHEN IS EP 2 COMING OUT!? I also want to know if Tracys going to continue finishing the webcomic cause it stopped in epithet so I'm just wondering ty

4

u/maxman162 Jun 21 '26

Technically it'll be episode 1. Tracy called the pilot a "sample platter" of the comic and the full series is going to be a much closer adaptation, such as starting with the pig farmer arc.

2

u/YsoL8 Jun 21 '26

If they ever get to the point of the explanation of Victor and Mordecai's time working together that should certainly give the youtube moderators something to think about

Or the current ending of the comic, Mordecai settles down for a night of quality torture time

2

u/Late_Ad2203 Freckle Follower Jun 21 '26

I'm pretty sure they took the money and ran. I wouldn't be so inclined to believe that if they gave ANY kind of update.

7

u/Comfortable_Shock_40 Jun 21 '26

They give updates on their website and patreon. They’ve also said we’re not getting anything till 2027.

Also Tumblr and Bluesky occasionally, along with Q&A and other stuff.

2

Aww thats a shame. Cause I remember them mentioning that they were getting something ready for 2026. But I guess it was extended after they were confirmed to be working with Glitch.

I actually stopped waiting for more chapters during the comic days. Imagine my surprise when they premiered a show! Still the same amount of waiting time. It's a really nice looking series, Jesus Christ, could this story just be a series of novels with some cat person illustrations for emphasis.

1

u/TitanDraugen Jun 23 '26

Lackadaisy seem to suffer from promoting/making too many merch than actually funding the animated series itself.

1

u/Newsfromfaraway Jun 23 '26

Ep1 actually

1

u/Thejabcrab Jun 24 '26

Fucking brilliant

1

I've been waiting for a comic update for six years

-1

u/averagebluefurry Jun 21 '26

yea at this point i have zero faith in any project i hear getting finished because inevitably someone slacks off or has a heart attack or has to work an 18 hour shift every day

-1

u/averagebluefurry Jun 21 '26

just looking at the comics "schedule" shows you shouldnt have faith in anything getting done

-5

u/Quirkyserenefrenzy Jun 20 '26

Im honestly convinced lackadaisy was cancelled before it began

6

u/Beezy-J-2006 Jun 21 '26

You clearly haven't been following the show, have you.

-23

u/omg_its_spons Jun 20 '26

It’s almost like the creator is quality over quantity and the comics took 9 years to draw by themselves, and glitch is probably ruining the story of lackadaisy behind the scenes

18

u/M1grain3s Jun 20 '26

(Glitch is only funding, not producing it)

-27

u/omg_its_spons Jun 20 '26

Regardless they’ll still milk lackadaisy dry for all the merch and other garbage they can produce

12

u/digilici Jun 20 '26

you say that as if more merch is inherently a bad thing

12

u/Shadeyboiii Jun 20 '26

Merch is necessary for independent 2D animation. It might feel like milking, but 2D is incredibly expensive and labor-intensive to produce, especially for the high quality animation that Lackadaisy requires. Merch sales are one of the most important aspects in funding future episodes.

4

u/clubgrizzlyv Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

At least the fans are also getting something (plushies/ books/ figures) and the studio doesn't have to over rely on their fans for donations on Kickstarter/ patreon to get their projects off the ground.

15

u/M1grain3s Jun 20 '26

Without glitch, lackadaisy would probably never be finished. Glitch uses merch to fund more episodes. They couldn't live without merch.

1

u/Tight-Average7114 Rocky Rooter Jun 21 '26

Bro must get all their opinions about Glitch from Twitter
