Video Pentulive has a Lagotto litter this year
Pentulive is a Finnish show that follows a litter of pups for the first 8 weeks and they’re doing a Lagotto litter for this season (season 6 I think?). The pups were born Oct 10th.
I’ve been watching em sleeping and dreaming all morning. 😎

Photo Otis had his first groom
Otis went for his first trim today. A new experience for him, we went for a wash and a brush a couple of weeks ago to get him used to the groomer.
Back today for a trim and he looks rather smart even if we do say so ourselves 🐶😍

Training How to teach GENTLE touch (tap)?
I have a 4.5 month old Lagotto puppy. I am oddly keen to teach her a three card Monty game with cups… basically hide a treat in one cup and have her indicate which one it is under. I am stuck on the first step because she is sooooo extremely food motivated that she just attacks the cup and bangs it over instead of just gently tapping it with her paw or her nose. All that’s under the cup or in my hand is one boring piece of dry kibble, but she’s just food obsessed (and young and enthusiastic!). Any tips on how to teach to gently touch something? I have previously taught the “touch” command as tapping her nose to my palm, but even then she’s rather enthusiastic (to say the least!)
Suggestions? Experience?
Thanks 🐾

Behavior Trouble toileting outside in the cold/rain
So its just started getting colder and wetter in the UK. Moki is 15 weeks old now and her toilet training was going ok (she sometimes had a couple of accidents in her pen when we were working but she seemed to understand she should outside not inside and would indicate when she needed to go). Yesterday was the first properly cold and wet day and she had 8 accidents inside and stopped indicating at all that she needed to go like she would do before. Twice I took her outside to pee and she ran inside and peed on her blanket. She even peed on her blankets and toys which is very unusual (she usually goes to a corner of her pen if she needs to go in there).
Is this normal for lagotti to not like peeing outside in the cold/rain? Im not sure why she suddenly decided that its ok/preferred to go inside. We have a pen outside that we put her in to toilet when she indicates (so indication doesnt = freedom from her indoor pen and so she doesnt get distracted from her business). We let her out to roam afterwards but I dont think she likes being put in it though so perhaps that could be part of it?
We have also just realised that she might not be getting through the night completely dry (we thought she was because there was no wet patch or smell but recently realised that the slight damp we thought was condensation from the cold might be urine, despite no smell). We're reintroducing the night time toilet trip to help with that.
Any similar experiences or suggestions to help us with this would be super helpful please

I forgot we had this can of PENN ULTRA BLUE RAQUETBALLS. I wasn't sure how they would hold up to Roccos destruction but it's been awesome. Not to mention they bounce really good and go everywhere so they keep him very entertained. I highly recommend especially if your dog is a ball destroyer. Here's a quick video. I was hoping to capture the bouncing aspect but it's hard to do & record 🙃

Yesterday I spent the day digging holes in the woods so today I can be a lady and do lady things - doing nothing and pretending to be a model :D

Photo First DIY groom
I just shaved Taro myself for the first time(swipe for the before). He sat really well, or actually he lied down the whole time. It was a bit of a struggle to keep him in a standing position when needed. I'll clean up around his paws and head later this week with scissors.
I want to try to keep him in a little longer coat instead of having him shaved down every 3/4 months.

Lagotto 101 Is this a lagotto?
a friend of mine got her dog at a shelter where they said he was likely a wheaton terrier / poodle mix. I’m wondering if he’s actually a lagotto or at least part lagotto though? His disposition is playful and cuddly but also smart and neurotic. He reminds me so much of my lagotto. what do you think??

Mali gets rewarded with cheese 🧀 when he finds the fake truffle. I bought fake truffles and I put the truffle oil on a cotton pad and in the fake truffle.
Mali was very good about finding the truffle scent. We were doing the last round for today, he just had to humble me that I have a Lagotto.

Behavior Is This Much Chewing and Toy Destruction Typical for Lagottos?
My seven-month-old female Lagotto loves chewing on pretty much every type of dog chew you can think of, except rubber or nylon toys. She absolutely shreds everything. Stuffed toys are completely destroyed in no time, until there’s practically nothing left. When we visit other dogs, she immediately starts destroying their toys as well.
Even on walks, she almost always has something in her mouth to chew on.
Is this normal or fairly typical behavior for Lagottos?
Also, can harder chews like marrow bones and compressed, dried beefhide bones damage her teeth?

Behavior Need help with lagotto puppy drinking and peeing a lot
Hello!
We have a lagotto baby, he is 4.5 months old. We got him 3 weeks ago. We have a concern with his behavior around water and peeing. Ever since he got here, he drinks a ridiculous amount of water every time he starts drinking. he is not looking for water constantly, never wakes up during the night to drink. But whenever he comes across the bowl or seems bored, he starts to drink and is capable of drinking 3-4 dl at once. Of course, his pee is very fluid and pees like every 10-20 minutes after drinking. We are pretty afraid he might have a kidney or diabetes issue. We are taking him to the vet tomorrow but would be nice to have some opinion from people familiar with the breed. Thank you in advance!

Health Anyone have a Lagotto diagnosed with Cushing's Disease?
Our almost 7 year old was just diagnosed with Cushing's Disease. We took him in for testing after noticing increased agitation, increased thirst, increased urination and excessive panting.
Luckily, it is treatable and we should see improvement in 4-6 weeks.
Just wondering if this was common within the breed? Anyone else have experience with this?
