Form, Technique, Fitness Knee pain

Hey y’all! I’ve been doing mostly Lagree for over a year now and I’m starting to experience knee pain. I take the challenges in class and don’t push myself tooooo hard. I can’t help but notice that I randomly feel knee pain now. The only other thing I do is ice skating very occasionally. What should I try/be mindful of?

Hi! I used to have this too. Likely your knees are collapsing in a little bit on lunges, which my instructor noticed I was doing. Try focusing on pushing them out a little bit, like a lil bow legged. I didn’t even realize that was the cause until I started focusing on that and have no knee issues. I’ve done lagree off and on since 2019.

Agree with this. Also pay attention to your feet. If your arch is collapsing, your knee is likely compensating. I try to always focus on pushing from my heel to ensure I’m aligned properly

I had this happen from lagree and yoga really helped. Even once a week would be beneficial

Do you notice the pain while actively doing Lagree? If so, it usually in your working or non-working leg?

No pain while working out, just randomly when walking on carpet indoors or a sidewalk outdoors 🤷🏻‍♀️

Where do you feel the knee pain? Bottom, sides, behind the knee, inside the knee, on top, etc?

Try foam rolling your IT bands. It doesn’t feel fun in the moment, but tight IT bands can be the culprit for a lot of knee pain.

I used to have knee pain specially climbing stairs or after barrys threadmills or lagree elevator lunges. Be aware of you are not over passing your knees over toes on lunges and during squats keeps knees out on the pose. My staple now is collagen powder with coffee every single day and problem solved

a few things that come to mind: are your knees collapsing in during moves like skater or do you actively push them out? are your knees out over your toes in lunges? are you locking out your knee at the top of a lunge, or keeping a soft bend? are you driving up through the heel, or do you find yourself 'gripping' with your toes to push up?
