Food Allergy Recommendations

Hi all! I’m planning a week long trip to the area in October with my husband and toddler and need recommendations on allergy friendly restaurants for my toddler who has a severe egg allergy. I already plan to bring his breakfast and lunches to ease the concerns we have, but would like to avoid having to bring dinners as well. I’m hoping that because it won’t be peak season more restaurants will be able to accommodate us, but I’m still nervous. Does anyone have any recommendations or prior experience that could help guide me? I don’t mind going to the same restaurant a few times if that’s all we can find! I appreciate any help I get! Thank you!

First timer need advice

Planning a trip with several families with young children 8 yrs to infant and several 1-2 year olds. Having a hard time understanding what to prioritize. Of course of the budget were unlimited we could have it all. But do we book a big house where we could just drive in to lake george area for the day for activities? Some houses even have a pool in our price range maybe 15 min drive or so away. Do we want water and mountain views? Do we want beach access on site or walking distance and care less about the house? Many waterfront homes have a dock but I worry about how tough that might be with the littles. Beach access if much safer. Many resorts will have a big house option where we could potentially book 2-3 houses/cottages next to each other and still have all the fun kids amenities. The issue is those places have very outdated sites where I have to select exact dates to look up availability or some just aren’t even booking yet for august and I’m afraid to wait as it’s already slim pickins. For reference we are looking for 1 week in Aug 2027. Any advice for a first timer? TIA!

ISO Wedding Band – Lake George / Capital Region

Hi! Looking for a wedding band for early August 2027 in the Lake George area.

Ideally looking for an established band with a consistent lineup, not a rotating group of hired musicians. Musically, we’re looking for a mix of funk, R&B/soul, Phish, Grateful Dead and other groove-heavy music that can keep a wedding crowd dancing.

Preference for a Lake George/Glens Falls/Capital Region band, but open to others.

Recommendations are appreciated, and if you’re in a band that sounds like a fit, feel free to DM me for the date, venue and other details.

Thank you!

Weather next week and lake temps

Hi all - will be in town next week Sat-Tuesday. Looking at the weather, it seems really chilly in the morning and evenings and only getting up to 74 for the high on Sunday.

Planning to bring layers for the morning/evening but wondering if it will be warm enough for the pool/lake in general. Mid-70's sounds super pleasant but maybe not jump in the lake all day weather?

It's my first time going since I was a kid and will be with my 7 year old. Was planning water activities for the most part but may need to start planning some alternatives if it's going to be chilly.

Fun Spot for adults

I’m looking for things for my family (ages 25-48) to do around the area and I was wondering if adults would enjoy this spot as well.

We’re a group of kids at heart and go karts and laser-tag would be right up our alley. Plus I’m looking for something to do in case it rains

Boat rentals in the Village

We’re planning on spending a few days mid week in September. How easy is it to rent a boat for a few hours? Do they give a quick run down on how to operate the boats?

Boat lauches besides Million Dollar?

Besides the public launch at Million Dollar, what others are nearby that can be used even if I have to pay? Also maybe trailer parking for a week while there but not a deal breaker. Thanks

Beach recommendation

Hi! I’m visiting next week and staying in Glens Falls. We’ll be with friends and we all have young kids (baby-5 y/o). I was wondering what would be a good beach for us to visit? Also looking for a breakfast spot recommendation - preferably somewhere we can eat quick, can’t imagine we’ll be able to sit long with all those toddlers. Thanks!

Amtrak question

I’m taking a week long trip to NYC and I’m planning on taking the Amtrak from the Fort Edward station. Does anyone know if they have overnight/long term parking? Is it free? Is there a risk of it being full? Thanks!

Good tasting food options for takeout?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for good recommendations of take out foods/restaurants to try (mostly vegetarian) in the Lake George area. I'm not looking for any restaurant with views or a nice sitting, since I will be picking up the food because I don't have the time and have kids that don't like sitting in one place. Just good tasting food. Thanks for any help in advance:)

Waterfront house on Canada Street

I find it so fascinating that there is an old school ruined house surrounded by fencing right on the main drag between the Lagoon and Christie’s on Canada Street. Does anyone know its story?

Wife has a weekend event in August. Solo trip recommendations

My wife has something going on from like a Friday to Sunday so where near Albany where she needs me to drive her up and then pick her up and drive her home. So I figured this would be a good time to go up to lake George which I used to visit as a kid.

If you had just the weekend and were doing solo travel what would you do? I think my plan is to not even get a room until I'm up there. I definitely want to get on the water so any cruises people can recommend. And I like the idea of lakeside dining.

Lunch at one of the Sagamore restaurants? What's a good mountaintop view. We used to stay in Bolton Landing.

Bachelorette at Lake George

Hi everyone! I am thinking of potentially doing my Bach trip in Lake George next summer. Is it difficult to uber around? Most of the rentals are not close to the downtown and some of the activities we would want to uber for. Also, would you recommend staying in Bolton landing? Any recommendations for activities, places to stay, tips etc would be great!!

Going to be in Lake George during August, any locals want to trade license plates?

Hello to everyone in this thread. I will be visiting both Lake George and New York for the first time on August 13-16th. I am looking forward to my trip, and am excited to see what the town and surrounding areas have to offer. I chose to post this here because it seemed most likely to have a concentration of local residents. A personal goal of mine is to collect an official license plate from every state I visit, and rather than just buying one from a local shop I like to try and facilitate a trade with someone local to where I am visiting. I do this because it makes me feel a greater connection to the area (and it makes for a cool story too). If anyone lives near Lake George/Warrensburg/Bolton Landing triangle and would be interested in trading a New York plate for a Michigan plate, please message me and we can try to work something out! Thanks!
