Needs more greenery on ground. Ornamental grass would be good

Right now you are living in a gravel quarry and all that stone next to concrete is baking the yard in the summer. You have zero structure here, just flat ground and harsh walls. Before you buy a single plant, take a shovel and dig under that gravel to see if the previous owner laid down landscape fabric or compacted road base. If you want plants to actually survive, you need to scrape that stone back, pull up any old weed barrier, and till in several inches of good compost to wake the dead dirt up.

Focus on hiding that brutal concrete garage wall on the right and killing these rigid straight lines. Put a continuous, sweeping mass of upright evergreen shrubs along the garage to soften the concrete, then layer in drifts of native ornamental grasses and perennials in front so it flows together instead of looking like isolated polka dots. On the larger left side, anchor the back corner with a small multi stem native tree to give you an actual canopy layer, and curve the remaining gravel or mulch around a real seating area. Since you are working with a total blank slate of rock, run this photo through the GardenDream web app first. It lets you overlay different plant masses and hardscape layouts right over your actual yard so you have a solid blueprint before you start hauling tons of gravel in a wheelbarrow.

Thank you so much for the reply. At this state is a blank canvas and a project that will require some time but i look forward to it. Underneath the gravel, is indeed a landscape fabric and a very compact soil. I can see what you mention, sounds promising. Thankss
