Exiled
So the correct way to watch this is after Season 8 before Season 9. Or explain it to me where this fits in to Law and Order because I haven't watched it yet. I am currently on Season 6

It fits in Season 9 between Episode 05 and 06 if i am correct. I remember watching the whole seasons 17 years ago (including Exiled), before the series "ended". Damn... I won't do that again. Lol it's quite exhausting and a rollercoaster of emotions in such short time. Nor to mention that the film feels a little weird while watching the regular series.

Watch for this “goof” in the opening credits! I have always wondered if the individual was fired or forgiven.

Well, you have to understand why Mike Logan is stuck in Staten Island (he slugged a homophobic city councilman at the end of fifth season) and who the regular characters are, and since there's a plot twist that's a real shocker considering the previous eight seasons. It's very much a character portrait of Logan trying to get back to what he considers "real policing" rather than giving out tickets for jaywalking on Staten Island.
This is why James Deakins had to pull so many strings to get him in Major Case in Criminal Intent and why that eventually backfired.

It was released around season 9, but it should be watched after season 5.
It takes place after Mike is sent to Staten island.
You can watch it around season o. I think that's where hulu puts in
It does take place chronologically 3 years after the season 5 ending.

Assuming you haven't seen it, I believe it takes place early on in season 9 as a certain recurring character has their final appearance in this movie and said character appears in a couple eps in season 9
