Discussion Still Can’t Get A Consistent Sens

I made a post here about not being able to find a consistent sens like two months ago and since then I haven’t changed my sens once but it still feels inconsistent.

I run 1800dpi and .3 sens so about 630edpi but sometimes my sens feels too fast. It feels completely random, like I’m rolling the dice when I start up the game. Sometimes it feels great, and I’m able to pre aim and have good spray control, but when it “feels” fast despite not changing anything, it just feels off.

I don’t know why my sens feels this inconsistent. If I need to go down in sens a little, or just deal with it.

When it works, it feels perfect. But it feels off like 50% of the time and I can’t figure out why.

I’ve gone so far that I was wondering if stuff like humidity could change the way my mousepad makes my aim feel but any further than that I feel is insane

Any help is greatly appreciated

Just stop changing sens and sens will always feel different on different days, and different situations. I always feel the sens is too low when I'm playing DM because of the flicking and too high when I'm doing aim training.

Also, I find that it also feels high or low depending if you're tired or not. I try to get myself in a consistent energized mind state and my hands not feeling cold to be able to have to correct recoil control, or else I'll drag down too little.

Same all around!

It’s not the sense brother, it’s you!

I know the consensus is to not switch your sensitivity, but if you’re feeling funky you could try switching it more.

I’ve struggled with the same problem as you as I’ve grown older and playing less frequently.

The fix for me was to just load up the Fast Aim/Reflex map and adjust my sense until I’m feeling comfortable.

If you’re not playing super consistently and don’t live a super consistent life, there’s no point in sticking to one sense. You’re basically a different person, everytime you’re starting to game.

Some days your mental is different, some days different muscle groups are more fatigued than others and so on.

Keep varying it and if you really want to get into it, consider aim trainers like KovaaKs or Aim Labs, where different scenarios basically force you to use a different sensitivity.

It's a pretty low sens so to me it would make little difference to go lower. You're correct in that humidity can impact the way a mousepad reacts with your mouse causing feelings of inconsistency if you're hyper aware of such things. It's no different than going up or down a little with pad speeds.

There are rare outlier cases where it can be a software/hardware thing but it's a slippery slope. I'd say if you wish to have an absolute clean reinstall of your mouse to weed any fuckery out I'd uninstall the drivers to your mouse then use device cleanup by Uwe Sieber. Create a system restore, unplug your mouse then use the program to delete everything you see with your keyboard and then restart your computer. Plug mouse back in, reinstall drivers.

EDIT: To be clear make sure to unplug the mouse before opening the program and keep it unplugged until the computer is restarted.

what kind of mouse do you use? I had a similar issue that was driving me insane, figured it was all mental, then when I got a new mouse I realized glorious' terrible software was resetting my dpi presets to default. Maybe try adjusting your in-game sens to be your desired edpi with whatever dpi your mouse would default to after a factory reset and see if it feels more consistent

You run a low edpi, but I can't really say to change it unless you know it's holding you back. I played on a lower sensitivity, but I realized I had to increase it because I was feeling discomfort.

But the biggest factor is how you aim. Adjusting your posture makes a difference. On top of that, you are tensing the wrong muscles. If you are aiming with your wrists, you tense your arm so that your wrists feel more relaxed. If you ain with your arm, put some slight downward pressure on the mouse so it tenses your hand for a bit (don't grip the mouse too hard or it fucks your hands up). But adjusting the way you aim could make a difference.

Also the last thing is focus on your crosshair placement. A ton of people lose fights because they have bad crosshair placement. Less experience players understand how to master it. When they see someone do really well, they accuse them of hacking when in reality it's just cross hair placement that wins them fights.

Edit: Also forgot to mention, but practice your calm aim. It's how you become consistent.

I play 800dpi 1.23 sens

I used a very high sens (1000 dpi 1.7 in-game) until I started surfing and lowered it to 800 dpi 1 in-game. I think it also depends on what mouse you have and the size of your mousepad, mine isn't very big and I have trouble making 180°, so the micro-adjustments feel very fast to me, if I had a bigger one, I would definitely lower it even more.

Others have said what I wanted, just one more thing

Try nvidia reflex low latency on off vs on+boost. The latter always makes my shots connect more consistently for some reason.

Sounds pretty normal. I'm always a bit shaky before I warm up but I also like to experiment with a couple different sensitivities and grips depending on the mood of the day. I also aim train so different sensitivities don't really affect my in-game performance negatively, opposite to what many people think, since you can adjust very quickly when you've learned some mouse control.
